Dear John: Skip daddy´s advice
Boston Herald, by Howie Carr

They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. But Boston City Councilor John Connolly better hope that old saw is wrong, because if he follows in the daffy footsteps of his hack father, he doesn’t have a prayer of unseating Mayor Mumbles Menino. Actually, he already doesn’t have a prayer, unless Boston’s mayor for life suddenly decides to pull a Pope Benedict XVI, which seems less likely with each passing day, and each passing campaign-finance report.

Comments:
Good morning all. This article about MA politics spells out very clearly why our country is in such desperate times. The multigenerational nature of slimy politicians is explained quite well by Howie. Tea Party is the only answer.

Methinks that anyone that serves more than two terms anywhere, should be guilty of a capital crime.

Carr: Senators full of reasons
why EBT reform won’t work
Boston Herald, by Howie Carr    Original Article

They always have an excuse, the State House hacks do, for why their beloved welfare recipients are behaving badly. It’s never the layabouts’ fault, of course. And if you suggest doing anything to reduce the waste, fraud and abuse, well, there’s always a reason the reform won’t work — much like the welfare recipients themselves. This week the state Senate punted yet again on doing anything about the out-of-control EBT-card program, you know, the one that kept the Tsarnaev brothers in gunpowder and pressure cookers.

Poor Joe Kennedy, mourning the loss of his grand amigo, “El Comandante,” the tinpot Latin American thug who put the “profit” back in “non-profit” for the Kennedy kleptocracy. How can Hugo be dead, Joe? He went to Cuba for medical treatment. They took him straight to the hospital from the airport in a DeSoto ambulance. Let’s go right to the Joe K press release: “President Chavez cared deeply about the poor … while some of the wealthiest people on our planet have more money than they can ever reasonably expect to spend.”

A perfect storm of slow news and cultural provocation elevated Melissa Harris-Perry‘s New Year’s weekend segment, which used Kieran Romney‘s appearance in a Romney family photo as a setup for jokes about diversity, into a full-blown media conflagration. That firestorm has now roiled into a second weekend. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) is expected to address the controversy tomorrow on Fox News Sunday, and Melissa Harris Perry addressed it on air for the first time on the Saturday morning edition of the Melissa Harris Perry show. (Snip) All involved issued a raft of online apologies of varying scope and

KAILUA, Hawaii — After a two-week vacation on the windward side of Oahu, ensconced with his family in a private beachfront rental, President Obama prepared on Saturday to return to the chillier clime — both politically and weather-wise — of the nation’s capital. (Snip) Last year, Mr. Obama returned to Washington in the middle of his vacation to deal with a fiscal showdown before flying back to Hawaii. By comparison, this trip was tranquil, if not drowsy. White House aides could be found pecking away at their email by the pool or floating in the ocean. Some members of the

The author of the widely disputed New York Times article on Benghazi repeatedly posed naked as a Princeton student. Far from the moderate journalist pose he strikes now, David D. Kirkpatrick was a prominent campus progressive and activist. Kirkpatrick was arrested for lewd conduct, advocated for classes on pornography, and even posed for Playgirl. “Kinky” Kirkpatrick had a “rather unusual habit of disrobing for photographers in public places,” reported The Daily Princetonian in January 22, 1990. “I’ve never been afraid to drop trou when it seemed like the right thing to do,” Kirkpatrick said of a Playgirl photo shoot he

A U.S. Coast Guard heavy icebreaker will leave Australia for Antarctica on Sunday to rescue more than 120 crew members aboard two icebreakers trapped in pack ice near the frozen continent´s eastern edge, officials said. The 122-meter (399-foot) cutter, the Polar Star, is responding to a Jan. 3 request from Australia, Russia and China to assist the Russian and Chinese ships because "there is sufficient concern that the vessels may not be able to free themselves from the ice," the Coast Guard said in a statement. The Russian research ship Akademik Shokalskiy has been trapped in ice-clogged Commonwealth Bay

MATT LEE, ASSOCIATED PRESS: Without relitigating the decisions that were made in the last term or over the past couple years, can you just address the suggestion in one of the earlier questions that the United States abandoned Iraq? MARIE HARF, STATE DEPARTMENT: Well, I would fundamentally disagree with it. Just because we don’t have troops on the ground doesn’t mean we don’t have a continuing close partnership with the Iraqi Government. You see that all the time from the assistance we give them. We talked a little bit about it over the Christmas holiday, I think, some of the additional

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un sentenced his uncle to be eaten alive by a pack of 120 wild dogs in a savage punishment for treachery, it has been claimed. Jang Song-Thaek, 67, along with five close aides, was stripped naked and thrown into a cage of hounds which had been starved for three days, according to new details emerging from China. The pack of animals spent more than an hour mauling the group in a punishment called ´quan jue´, or execution by dogs, a report in Chinese newspaper Wen Wei Po said. She lied on her first day on the job — and got caught. Just hours after being sworn in as the city’s public advocate, Letitia James went on TV to claim that she played a key role in helping expose “the face of poverty in the City of New York” on the ‘front page of The New York Times. James, a former City Council member, said she had appointed a task force to examine conditions at the Auburn homeless shelter in her old Brooklyn district. When those conditions didn’t improve, James said, she acted to publicize the plight of Dasani Coates, a 12-year-old

The Girl Scouts recently promoted Texas gubernatorial candidate and pro-abortion advocate Wendy Davis as an "incredible" woman who deserved to be on a 2013 "women of the year" list. After calling Davis, the mainstream media darling whose claim to fame was filibustering to block a bill banning abortions after 20 weeks, "incredible," the official Girl Scouts Twitter account linked to a Huffington Post list that had Davis and Gloria Steinem on it. Christy Volanski, a former member of the Girl Scouts who has explored some of the ties the organization may have to Planned Parenthood, told LifeNews that "it saddens me

Kudos to President Obama for giving his wife a birthday present we all can envy, indeed covet. CBS News reports: President Barack Obama is going to give his wife the birthday present that many parents can only dream of - time off, alone, without the children. The White House said on Saturday first lady Michelle Obama would stay in Hawaii, where the family has been on vacation for the last two weeks, rather than return home with her husband and their two girls. PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - President Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia have departed Hawaii after a 15-day family vacation for the holidays. The president and his daughters took off for Washington aboard Air Force One on Saturday night. Obama left Hawaii after a final low-key day spent mostly on the eastern side of the island. He played golf, hung out in his vacation home with his family and ate dinner at a popular steakhouse near a beachside park. After dinner, the family drove to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Obama and his daughters greeted people gathered behind a rope line to watch them depart.

On Sunday, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney joined Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday for a wide-ranging interview about a number of political issues that dominated the landscape following the close of the 2012 election cycle. Romney dug into the Affordable Care Act’s roll-out, the contraception mandate which he signed into law in Massachusetts, and the Winter Olympics in Russia. Asked what “bothers” him the most about the ACA roll-out, Romney said that the onerous coverage requirements frustrated him the most. “it’s not just that the president tells people that they have to buy health insurance,” Romney said, “it’s that

The mayoral candidate who often calls New York a “tale of two cities” has a personal tale of three names. Most New Yorkers have come to know Bill de Blasio as the Democratic candidate with the affable family, including a teenage son who has been featured in campaign ads. Left unsaid in the candidate’s official biography is that Bill de Blasio is his third legal name. The man who could become the city’s 109th mayor was born Warren Wilhelm Jr. on May 8, 1961, in Manhattan, his birth certificate shows. In 1983, fresh out of New York University, he petitioned a Manhattan judge
