Consequence to cuts no one

WASHINGTON- It´s not the first time that government economic engineering has produced a time bomb with a short fuse. Back in 2011, few lawmakers, if any, thought deep and indiscriminate spending cuts, totaling about $85 billion and now starting to kick in, were a smart idea. The across-the-board cuts, set up as a last-resort trigger and based on a mechanism used in the 1980s, are a reality largely because President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, failed to find a way to stop them. Republicans, influenced by tea party and other conservative factions, insisted on just

Isn´t it interesting to find so many opinions that just aren´t true in anything that comes out of the AP? Just go through this piece and take note of the instances of liberal thought processes leaning the tone heavily to the left.

Wow, many false statements in there.

- Tax increases were out? No, we just had tax increases 2 months ago. Remember?

- In 2000 the economy was already heading down. The stock market crashed in March 2000.

- Deficits have grown ever since? No, deficits peaked at $412 billion in 2003-2004 before dropping to $160 billion 2006-2007.

- The Gramm Rudman sequesters were killed by the courts.

And another thing:

I always hear that the Bush tax cuts and wars are to blame for the trillion dollar deficits of the past 4 years. But the deficits were between $160 billion and $400 billion from 2001-2007 even with the Bush tax cuts and 2 wars.

When an adult has a hissy fit it is so unbecoming. Get two rolls of pennies and two glasses. Put two cents in one glass and all the rest in the other. That´s it. That is what this represents. Almost nothing. It is actually only cutting the growth. We will still be spending more than last year. I find it hard to believe that president skeeter could not find ONE program that could be dropped. Not ONE that was useless or redundant. If he would stop jetting around the country that would save a ton of money.

The problem is most people do NOT understand finance or economics. I am the first person to stop the creation of new stupid laws, but it should be criminal to print outright lies in a news article. People like this author belong in jail for intentionally misleading the public.

My neighbor is the Principal of the County VoTech. Asked him about funding cuts from Washington. He told me that Washington money is about 1% of what runs the school ($120K/year) specifically earmarked for looney lib stuff like free breakfasts and lunches. So a 2% cut of $120K is barely anything, couple of small truckloads of Mac ´n Cheese. Anyway, most of this stuff get thrown out. It´s a school, not an orphanage. Kids should bring their lunch.

No layoffs at all. No layoffs of any kind coming.

Cap government salaries to 90% of the civilian equivalent national average, roll them off their gold plated plans over to Social Security and Obamacare and end the real budget problem once and for all. Hmmmmmmmmmm, no one would want to work for the government anymore. Imagine, you wouldn´t have to furlough or lay off any government workers, they would leave on their own.

Ah yes. Meat for the uninformed and gullible. Sure. Roosevelt screwed the recovery up by not putting enough debt into the recovery. But no mention that a previous depression in early twenties jumped out in just two years with massive tax reductions.

And of course Reagan was ultimately responsible for the 2008 recession. Did you know that? But not a mention of the liberals giving the farm away forcing lenders to give loans to those who didn´t qualify.

We see in this piece why the media can no longer be trusted with anything. Liberals will use any station in life to propagandize and force their lies on the ignorant. These authors rightly belong in a tyrannical state as they are willing to sell their souls and reputation. But in the liberal world this is deserving of a medal. After all, their leader lies everytime he opens his mouth.

The super committee put together to find cuts was derailed from the start not by conservatives, but by those who would not under any circumstances consider ANY cut at all.

It was the Speaker´s deal that just about everyone knew would not work because you cannot deal with people who only seek to "tax and tax and spend and spend" as Ronaldus Magnus told us.

Those of us outside of DC KNEW any deal with the devil was a bad deal, but the Obamboozler charmed his way into Boehner´s heart.

We have had numerous tax increases, especially Obamacare promised to SAVE us money and "reduce the debt and deficit" shoved down our throats because the tea-party supported conservatives are either out numbered or have lost their backbone and refuse to vote against this massive government intrusion into our lives.

Obama and the media´s only solution? False fear mongering and using government to claim that we are not safe with meat inspections of travelling by airplane unless we fork over EVEN MORE TAXES.

No more "deals" Mr. Speaker! Down, boy!

While they said Obama “deserves some credit” for including entitlement reforms in his spending blueprint, they said the president shouldn’t hold the plan “hostage” in the debate over tax revenues. “While the president has backtracked on some of his entitlement reforms that were in conversations that we had a year and a half ago, he does deserve some credit for come incremental entitlement reforms that he has outlined in his budget,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told reporters Wednesday

The U.S. Postal Service on Wednesday said it will delay a cost-cutting plan to end Saturday mail delivery, following congressional action that blocked the effort. Congress passed a temporary federal spending bill last month including language that prevents the agency -- which lost $15.9 billion last year -- from going to a Monday-to-Friday mail delivery schedule. The agency, which wanted to begin the new schedule Aug. 5, said the decision was made Tuesday by its board of governors. “By including restrictive language in the Continuing Resolution, Congress has prohibited implementation of a new national delivery schedule,”

President Obama´s budget plan would increase taxes by $580 billion over the next decade, but it relies on many proposals that have been repeatedly rejected by Congress. Some were rejected as recently as January, when Congress voted to make permanent a series of tax cuts first enacted under President George W. Bush. Among them, a proposal to limit itemized deductions for high-income families. One new proposal is a 94 cents-a-pack increase in the cigarette tax. The tax would raise an estimated $78 billion over the next decade to pay for early childhood education.
