| Denver - A popular hunting shotgun could be banned under one of the bills moving through the state Capitol. A pump or semi-automatic shotgun is the gun most hunters in Colorado use. It’s a gun state Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, says could be banned under a bill that’s already passed the House and Gov. John Hickenlooper says he’ll sign. “They’re coming after the standard shotgun,” Brophy told CBS4 Political Specialist Shaun Boyd. Brophy says if Democrats succeed in passing a bill limiting large capacity magazines in Colorado, they’ll outlaw the most popular selling firearm for hunting.
|
Comments: Let´s be selective about Colorado tourism. We don´t want hunters, just the folks wanting to smoke some joints.

No Problem. Hunters with pump or semi-autos can turn them in and buy over and unders or side by side double barrels shotguns. They only hold two rounds and cannot be converted to hold more. Also they cost three to five times as much as a pump or semi auto. Uncle Joe Biden´s shotgun is a double barrel. If double barrel shotguns were good enough for Wells Fargo to guard its stags, and for Wyatt Earp, back in the day, they are good enough for pheasant hunters. s/o

Heck, if they ban the semi-auto shotgun, we might as well convert it for portability and maximum effect toward that day that we take back the country.

Really entertaining...a company call Aquila builds "short" shotgun shells. They run about 1.75 inches long. They build either slug or buck shot. The buck shot energy is about a double tap with a 40S&W. Though the shotgun needs work to have reliable function, you can nearly double the capacity without significantly reducing the effectiveness. The idiots just do not seem to understand, do they?

Please do it. Ban every civilian owned firearm. In fact you better ban edged weapons, archery weapons and pellet guns. Special permits all around first, then after another shooting. GO for it, progressives. Achieve your dream state and let´s admit the US is the new Cuba. Wake up all the ´sensible, reasonable´ citizens who really don´t understand how anyone could own or want a rifle like an AK/AR. Let´s see the kind of government that has total control over your safety, diet, medical care and finances. DO IT!
I would prefer a hurried jump to totalitarian state over the years long slide we are in now.

I got a box of those 2" 12-gauge rounds, made by an Italian company (Centurion, I think). I´m told they work fine in a slide-action, haven´t tried them yet. They have about 6 "00" pellets in each round. I´ve loaded my (yep, no foolin´) double-barrel with them. BTW, I find myself often in the same mood as #7 these days, trying to figure out if I could really live out in the deep woods with little or no contact with "civilization"...

It is not public safety they want it is political safety for themselves. Why do we hate these politicians? They do the same thing with Federal and state budgets. We are well past time for major changes--regular or forced. Guess which it will be.

There was a longer version of this story I read earlier. It said the democrat controlled legislature has talked about an amendment to remove the shotgun ban. If they don´t, this outrage will likely wind up in a court battle. This may not end well.
As noted by reply 2, liberals have flocked to Colorado. Many came to the Front Range to escape high taxes in the states they ruined. Once here, the imbeciles continued to vote the same way they always did. The leftward shift in Colorado is compounded by an enormous influx of illegals. Colorado has fallen.

Right. "Extend the barrel. Holds more shells." Great job, Shaun. Great job, editors and proofers. Sheesh.
Why doesn´t Colorado just expel everyone they suspect of thinking evil thoughts?

France will lose its best footballers due to President François Hollande’s “crazy” 75 per cent tax on millionaire earners, the country’s football league warned on Tuesday, after a failed attempt by leading players to avoid the levy. The supertax, a key electoral promise, has already sent several Gallic public figures, including Gérard Depardieu, the actor, running for fiscal cover. The levy, which looked like it was going to be shelved, was revived last week by the Socialist president, who stipulated that companies, not individuals, will now foot the bill.

NPR reports on a new federal cost-cutting move: Every month, the government sends out about 5 million checks to Americans who receive federal benefits. On March 1, the Treasury Department is making those paper checks a thing of the past. Since May 2011, all new Social Security recipients are required to get direct deposit of their benefits. Some 93 percent of all recipients now do. But there are still holdouts, so the Treasury Department started a campaign and a website, Go Direct, in an effort to convince the remaining 7 percent.

Chapel Hill, NC - Hopes for overhauling the federal tax system are fading in Washington, but in some state capitals, tax reform experiments - some far-reaching - are fast taking shape. Across the South and Midwest, Republicans have consolidated control of state legislatures and governorships, giving them the power to test long-debated tax ideas. Louisiana Republican Governor Bobby Jindal, for instance, called on Thursday for ending the state´s income tax and corporate taxes, with sales taxes compensating for lost revenue. A similar plan is being pushed by Republicans in North Carolina. Kansas... Source and dateline corrected to site style by Staff.

Republican Governor Bobby Jindal said on Thursday he wants to eliminate all Louisiana personal and corporate income taxes to simplify the state´s tax code and make it more friendly to business. The governor did not release details of his proposal, but his office released a statement confirming that the taxes are targets of a broader tax reform plan. "Our goal is to eliminate all personal income tax and all corporate income tax in a revenue neutral manner," Jindal said in the statement. Robert Griffin III is not only taking the National Football League by storm, but the Washington Redskins rookie quarterback is already building himself a brand in the mold of Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Peyton Manning. To say Griffin’s play has been superb to date is selling him short. {Skip} “One advantage I believe he does have is the great education he received … and his military background and really strict upbringing,” he told CBSDC. “All of those things will really benefit him in the long run – [he is marketable] on and off the field.”

They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
