Obama Plays Cat and Mouse With
GOP on Gay Rights, Guns,
Immigration, and Climate

National Journal, by Ron Fournier

Original Article

Posted By:Oblio, 3/1/2013 4:38:32 PM

Like a cat toying with a mouse, President Obama is torturing Republicans one issue at a time--exposing how the GOP is dangerously bucking social, demographic, and scientific realities. This president-and-prey drama played out Thursday when the Obama administration told the Supreme Court that California’s same-sex marriage ban violates the Constitution’s equal-protection clause. Whether or not you agree with the White House´s position, there is no denying that gay rights are achieving mainstream acceptance. Even deeply rooted beliefs on marriage are changing.

Oh, Ron-Ron, must hurry to get back in Teh Won´s good graces after blowing the whistle on his press bullying. Got a good look at what´s happening to Woodward, eh?

Let´s look at the states where the people voted for gay marriage and the states that voted against it. I would wager if amnesty were put up for a vote by the people, it would lose too.

Fournier purposely conflates gay marriage, a completely fabricated ´right´, with issues spelled out in the Constitution and other laws of the land: firearm ownership and citizenship.

When I was young and stupid (now I´m older and, well, experienced) I would do something with other kids that my mother disapproved of and, when I said they were doing it too, she would say, "Well, if they jumped off a cliff, would you do it too?"

That is what this piece makes me think of. "C´mon, our culture and our nation are jumping off a cliff. You do it too!"

No, thanks. My mother was right.

The term "gay rights" insinuates that people who refer to themselves as being "gay" are entitled to special rights in addition to the rights that everybody in the USA legally enjoys. The problem is that there is nothing in the US Constitution authorizing anything like that.

Guns and immigration are enshrined in the Constitution. Bearing arms is a constitutional right, and immigration and naturalization facets are constitutionally given to the US Congress to decide.

Wow. The evidence and information is clearly leaning against the global warming idiots, but don´t tell Mr Fournier.

FTA... "On climate change, the overwhelming scientific consensus points to a globe in peril because of man-made pollution. Obama supports the science. Most Republicans don’t."

There is no such thing as man made global warming Mr Fournier. You sir, might want to practice a little critical thinking instead of parroting the MSM BS! Really difficult to suffer these fools.

He´s going to be little more than a Blame Duck, and soon.

Someone recently posted that every state with the voter photo-ID requirement went
for Romney. I don´t know if that´s true.

After the DimWitz did motor-voter, we should turn that around and insist upon
photo-voter. Don´t all motor-voters have the ID to drive?

Ram through every state possible the photo-ID for voters requirement. That´ll work for
all of us. Works for me.

Immigration - 2 out of 3 say keep immigration at present level or decrease it
Climate - 34% of climate scientists think we´re headed for a catastrophe

A New York hedge fund manager allegedly swindles $12 million from a prominent Baltimore family. A financial manager in Texas promises 23-percent returns but absconds with $33.5 million of his investors’ money in a classic Ponzi scheme. All three cases have one thing in common: money that ended up in offshore accounts and trusts set up in tax havens around the world.

After lengthy investigations, the Pentagon has determined that three Army generals committed misconduct in separate incidents, adding to an unusually long list of senior military commanders who have been censured over the past year.On Friday, defense officials confirmed that Army Maj. Gen. Ralph O. Baker, the commander of a strategic counterterrorism force on the Horn of Africa, was fired March 28 on charges of sexual misconduct. Two officials familiar with the case said Baker was investigated for allegedly groping a female civilian employee after he had been drinking.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Political scientist Charles Murray has never backed away from controversy, but usually his opponents have been liberals. Friday, however, he managed to upset conservatives at the annual conference known as CPAC, where thousands of bewildered Republicans gathered to figure out the way forward after their party’s 2012 electoral defeat. Murray ditched his prepared remarks on “America Coming Apart” in favor of an impromptu admonition to fellow conservatives to accept the legalization of both gay marriage and abortion.

VATICAN CITY—It took Jorge Mario Bergoglio four minutes to convince fellow cardinals he was their leader. Speaking in the Paul VI grand hall of the Vatican, the Argentine cardinal warned the Catholic Church against focusing too much on matters close to home—advice that came against the backdrop of a papacy that had been consumed by infighting among Vatican officials, a dwindling flock in Europe and secular trends in the West. The 76-year-old Father Jorge, as he is known back home, said Roman Catholicism needed to shift its focus outward, to the world beyond Rome—rather than being "self-referential," he said.

When President Obama gets to Jerusalem next week, one of the signals to listen for is an indication of what country he thinks he’s in. Normally this is clear when the President — any president — goes to the capital of a foreign country. He’s in whatever country the capital is capital of. But Mr. Obama has been refusing to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Not only that, but he has been refusing to admit that Jerusalem is even in Israel.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
