I agree it seems like wasting money, BUT I think we do need to send a message that wrong is wrong, evil is evil and law breakers will be punished.
Too many bad guys are getting off because they had a rough childhood or ate a twinkie. And too often liberal judges don´t want to hurt anyone´s feelings (except the innocent victim)so they let the bad guys off or don´t even prosecute.

The question I want answered is what the he!! the USPS is doing sponsoring anybody or anything! For mail sent cheaply USPS has no competition so why spend millions advertising and sponsoring.

This article shows what is wrong with American culture.

Armstrong is a gifted athlete but an even more gifted fraud, cheat, liar and imposter. He agreed to follow the rules when he competed in the Tour de France, then proceeded to break those rules for his own self aggrandizement and monetary gain. The article attempts to excuse his willful misbehavior by making numerous infantile excuses, such as:

1. Others were also breaking those rules. Even though that is true, that does not make it RIGHT.

2. It was necessary to break the rules in order to win. Why does is winning have a higher priority than sportsmanship, honesty and respect for the rules? Bernie Madoff is in jail for breaki9ng the rules even though by doing so he managed to "win."

3. Armstrong defrauded the Tour de France by exploiting their organization for his own monetary gain. The Tour has a vast organization that planned the routes, publicized the event, sold media rights to cover the event, etc. Armstrong defrauded and took advantage of the Tour´s organization to get rich. That is inexcusable. If Armstrong wished to use PED´s, he could have started an alternative organization where PED´s were legal and open and taken the risk that fans would not pay any attention to Armstrong´s new event.

I could go on pointing out the absurdity of the article, but you must get the point by now.

Other lawsuits will pick at his bones.

There is no good in any of this. Armstrong cheated and then lied about it for a long time.

OTOH I can´t be happy about the DOJ or any other bureaucracy going after him for it. The races were not government business. .

And the witnesses against Armstrong are to be rewarded even though they did the same thing.

No magic formula can make this right. Scoundrels will win while other scoundrels lose.

And he´s proven at every step along the way that he has incredibly astute insights in virtually every area of life! So I suppose it´s fitting that what I think of Lance Armstrong is exactly the same as what I think of Mr. Stevens.

#6, not to argue your points, but note too that having LA in the TdF generated a huge amount of PR and viewers who never would have, so it benefited them quite a bit too.

Are you saying that the end justifies the means?

Are you saying that it is ok to lie, cheat and steal as long as someone benefits?

By your apparent "standard" it would be ok to rob or cheat someone if you gave 10% of the "proceeds" to a "good" cause.

As I said, the whole issue would have gone away if Lance had started his own event where PED´s were not prohibited. Then we would have been able to see how much the event drew fans when it was honestly presented. As it is, until recently fans of the Tour de France were NOT presented with the honest facts.

Sorry, but that is the truth.

The Postal Service sponsored these frauds to the tune of millions annually and now they´re contemplating ending Saturday delivery due to lack of funding. All I want is my money back.

Ask Lance to reimburse the US Postal service.

AND all of the companies that paid him to endorse their products.

AND everyone who paid his speaking fees.

I still don´t understand why he decided to goon Oprah & spill his guts.

#15 You should read the 202 page report issued by the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA). They were required to issue their report to present a "reasoned decision" explaining their action to strip Armstrong of his seven Tour de France Yellow Jerseys and ban him from sports for life.

The facts gathered by the USADA were apparently adequately convincing that Armstrong announced he was not going to contest their findings and proceeded to admit to use of PED´s.
