If the Mafia don who woke up with a dead horse in his bed had had the good sense to understand that he´d been threatened, he would have spoken out beforehand to his cronies who would have protected him, and the act would never have happened.
Bob Woodward did have the good sense to understand that he´d been threatened, and he spoke out about it beforehand to the world. Now the White House can´t easily retaliate by suddenly causing Mr. Woodward to drop dead of a heart attack.
At least not in the immediate future. Maybe Mr. Woodward is now backpedaling on his accusation because the White House has again threatened him with some amorphous, less-suspicious-looking retaliation in the future unless he does what the White House wants, which his speaking out about at this point wouldn´t be able to prevent.

Two-thirds of Democrats now believe Obama´s health care reforms will either hurt them personally or have no effect on their daily lives, a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows. In comparison, just 27 percent of Democratic respondents said the reforms would help them.
