| If you´re reading this after midnight on Friday, March 1, the dreaded Beltway hour of doom known as the "sequester" has arrived and the news is that the world has not ended. You can pinch yourself to make sure. This does not mean there won´t be more political histrionics, but the beginning of applying reason to Washington is understanding that it is possible to cut at least some federal spending. (Snip)The White House political calculus seems to be that if Americans see that cutting 2.3% of federal spending is possible without catastrophe, they might learn something from the experience.

And learning that would be contrary to the goal of not taking responsibility for anything other than handing out goodies.

Do people realize that when ANYTHING is added to costs, it´s being added ad infinitum? That means when, because of extraordinary events, e.g. they have to add to the spending for e.g. the stimulus, it´s added in such a way that it´s will be added year after year. Base line budgeting in the Fed means that they are NEVER allowed to cut spending, it has to go up 4% / year and the sequester is merely making a cut in that 4% and only part of that. WITH the sequester, we´ll spend more in 2013 than 2012. The stumulus was added a bit in many departments and those departments continue to include that increase every year. Any corporation who tried this would be in jail. And they´re not allowed to EVER spend less one year than the former one. Of course this is hidden as much as possible by their not presenting a budget, with is against the law but apparently ´forgiven´ in these Obama-worship years.
Sequester is the only way to cut back and I think it should be repeated again, and again, and again. We´re currently spending twice as much as we did with that giant spender, George Bush!

It´s really funny to me that barry has been running around the country in AF1 for weeks for the sole reason of calling attention to the sequester. Now it´s exploded in his face and his fingerprints are all over it. Come Monday, there will be a few government employees out of jobs, hopefully only those who voted for him, but no visible damage to the nation.

What we can really take from the Obama time in the American presidency is that man´s nature never changes. Today, even in our time of advanced information sources, the masses are as vulnerable to a skillful demagogue and compliant media propaganda machine as the people in Germany were in the 1930´s and 1940´s. We are boldly and openly lied to on a daily basis and ,even without a state controlled media, the lies stand unexposed by a volunteer media army intent on protecting an administration with whom they have sympathy.
Liberalism travels one direction......down. And, like the drug addict, a bottom must be found before things can be rebuilt on a solid foundation. Sadly, that bottom will require much suffering for our willing embrace of an anticonstitutional Utopian dream.

Last month, the Supreme Court decided to allow the importation and resale of foreign editions of American works, which are often cheaper than domestic editions. Cyprus postponed for yet another day an emergency parliamentary session to discuss a bailout plan that will see the country´s bank depositors share part of the burden, the house speaker said Monday. The Cypriot parliament is now scheduled to meet Tuesday at 1600 GMT, house speaker Yannakis Omirou told reporters. The parliament had been due to meet Monday at 1400 GMT as the government sought to push the levy through parliament before banks reopened Tuesday after a three-day bank holiday. The vote delay means that the bank holiday will likely be extended for at least another day.
