| Earlier this month oil output hit its highest level in the U.S. since the summer of 1992. That´s good, but it could be better. The Obama administration won´t get out of the way. During the week of Feb. 15, the U.S. produced 7.118 million barrels of crude per day, according to Energy Department data. Domestic production hasn´t been that high since the third week of August 1992, when the country was pumping 7.12 million barrels a day. A year ago, domestic producers were putting out only 5.817 million barrels a day and we were importing 9.091 million barrels per day.

The EIA never releases a report that doesn´t contain a caveat warning that the tight oil released from shale may not have much of a future. They now warn that hydraulic fracturing might be regulated because of the threat it poses to drinking water and because of the rapid decay of production from a well after the first year.

He also vowed Washington would protect its Asian allies against any provocative acts by the North, but said it wants a peaceful solution to rising tensions in the region. "We are prepared to reach out but we need (the) appropriate moment, appropriate circumstance," Kerry told a small group of reporters, adding that North Korea had to take steps toward giving up its nuclear programs. "They have to take some actions.

A demon has been revealed in twenty-first-century Philadelphia, and the three broadcast networks have been enforcing a policy of silence about the discovery. So have most major newspapers. Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.
