In his often-bizarre but oh-so-brilliant analysis of the disastrous Star Wars prequels, Mike Stoklasa of Red Letter Media (video embedded below) commented on the opening sequence of A New Hope: Compare this fecal matter [the Phantom Menace plot] to the opening of the original Star Wars. You see, a guy named William Shakesman once said, “Brevity is the soul of wit.” (Snip)Having Michelle Obama, first lady of the United States, present an Academy Award was such a brilliant strategy for advancing the post-structuralist deconstruction of America, even the Obamas themselves probably didn’t realize how genius it was.
Comments: Spoiler: The writer speaks of Mooch´s constant search for celebrity and refers to her husband as the "Golfing Marxist". This ain´t no puff piece. But it is well reasoned and worth a read.
Woohoo! Pryor is on a roll. Who in the White House will be telling her she´ll regret this?
Lady “Never-Been-Proud-of My-Country” communicated ultimately that America herself is nothing but a deception, another tripping, stumbling pretender. Viewers also conclude that those who lead the nation perform the same function as those who mass produce make-believe for consumption. By mixing the symbol of our government with those of Hollywood, the greatest nation in history becomes internally associated with what is most flimsy and ephemeral in our culture; America too should bask but a moment in glory before making way for the next big thing.

The only flaw in this very well reasoned article is a back-handed slap at Nancy Reagan. If anyone has a right to be in the audience at the Oscars, it would her: several decent female lead roles, nearly 10 years representing the interests of her fellow actors on the Screen Actors Guild board. And she is the widow of a seven-time SAG president, who spearheaded the negotiations for TV and film residuals that benefit the average working actor/actress the most.
But Nancy would never be up there presenting, because she understands the difference in being First Lady (representing the US, and as the writer stated, ´transparency and truth´), a President´s widow, and her short stay in Fantasyland (celebrity and make-believe) and would not cross that barrier.

Can this be a Weekend Must-Read? There is a major thought breakthrough on why this Moochelle appearance was so disconcerting, and how effective this deliberate breaching of truth and fantasy by the Obamalinis has become.
Mrs. Pryor says we must see that this is a war on our souls and our ´national´ identity - our citizens are being manipulated by ´frequent violation of the boundaries between our individual lives and the state.´ There are no lines, no rules, limitations or boundaries that the state cannot violate. It is all for our own good according to the Marxists & Utopian meddlers. The individual is owned & controlled by the the state because he is too stupid & uneducated to take decisions of his own. The movies are fantasy yet have powerful influence in shaping public opinion about history & ideas. Michelle Obama has no truth in her - she is a construct. The media protect her from her faux pas - like the comment about guns on GMA the other day.
Friends of Nancy Davis Reagan knew she was not unhappy to move on from Hollywood. She ended up a West Coast socialite and wife of the governor and then the president. Her Hollywood career was never a big deal. Nor was his. Their support did not come from Hollywood, but from a much larger corporate and political arena.
Philip D. Chism allegedly became upset at Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer when she started talking about Tennessee, the state the teenager had recently moved away from after his parents’ “stressful’’ divorce there, according to a police affidavit unsealed today. Chism, 14, also allegedly left behind a note after raping and murdering Ritzer, a popular math teacher at the North Shore school, last month. “I hate you all,’’ said the handwritten, folded note, which was found near Ritzer’s body in the woods near the school, according to the affidavit.
SALEM, Mass. (AP) — A 14-year-old Massachusetts boy used an object to sexually assault his popular high school algebra teacher before killing and robbing her, according to an indictment issued Thursday. Philip Chism has been held without bail since shortly after the Oct. 22 slaying of 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer, whose body was found behind Danvers High School after she never returned home from school. "The indictments returned today detail horrific and unspeakable acts," Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said.
A group of state insurance commissioners emerged from a meeting with President Obama and other federal officials on Wednesday saying that state regulators would continue to decide on their own whether to go along with his recent proposal to let consumers keep older insurance plans for an extra year, even if the plans did not comply with regulations under the new health care law. In a conference call with reporters and in a statement issued after the meeting, they said they told the president they would not reach any consensus on what states should do. They said they warned the
HOT SPRINGS, Va. – As police studied evidence into what led to the attack on state Sen. Creigh Deeds, a Virginia health official said his office opened an investigation into why the legislator´s son was reportedly released from emergency custody the day before he stabbed his father and killed himself. The son, Gus Deeds, was a talented musician known for his stories and his smarts and as someone who could carry on conversations on wide range of topics. But his mental health apparently came into question the day before the Tuesday´s attack at the family´s farm in western Virginia.
Barack Obama continued to lionize John F. Kennedy on Wednesday evening at a dinner where the President gave a speech introduced by JFK´s grandson. Jack Schlossberg, whose mother is Caroline Kennedy, introduced President Obama at the Smithsonian´s National Museum of American History where a dinner was held to honor recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, first minted by JFK. ´He reminded us that everyone has the capacity to explore, to imagine and to give back to our great nation no matter the path we choose,´ Mr Schlossberg said of his grandfather.(Snip)There has been increasing interest in Mr Shlossberg, who
With 78 days until the start of the Sochi Olympics, Lindsey Vonn´s next race is against the clock. After suffering a partial tear to the ACL in her surgically repaired right knee will she be healthy enough to compete in her fourth Olympics? The injury came during training on Tuesday, nine months after tearing the ACL and MCL in her right knee and fracturing her tibia in a brutal crash in Austria.(Snip)Of course, no one knows if Vonn can come back just yet, but if her own history is any guide, the best rehab is about five months off the
Sheriff´s deputies had been called to the home of Virginia state Sen. Creigh Deeds a day before the fight that left his son dead and the veteran politician with multiple stab wounds, investigators reported Wednesday. Deputies responded to a "nonemergency call for assistance" at Deeds´ home in Millboro, in the rural western part of the state, on Monday, Virginia State Police said. The deputies made no arrests, and no charges were filed, the agency said. A police source confirmed that Deeds´ son, Austin "Gus" Deeds, was taken to a local hospital under an emergency custody order for an evaluation by
LOS ANGELES -- Everyone knew Jonathan Martin as “Moose” at Harvard-Westlake, an elite prep school for the children of Los Angeles’ corporate and entertainment executives that is perched among the pines of Coldwater Canyon. Martin, a 6-foot-5 football star, reflexively bent over to hug classmates upon greeting them. When he wasn’t flattening opponents with pancake blocks, he played the viola, which looked like a toy in his large hands. “Jonathan was by far the biggest man on campus, but he was also a big puppy,” said Dave Levy, offensive coordinator for the football team. “Not a jokester, and a bar fight
Republicans are the only ones who can fix President Obama´s broken promise now. The problem is simply stated. Millions will be losing their individual insurance policies that they were promised they could keep. They will be expected to buy more expensive ObamaCare-approved policies than they want or need, and to do so from ObamaCare exchanges that aren´t working. Mr. Obama´s fix, which he proposed on Thursday and which was quickly debunked by the insurance industry and its state regulators, can´t work because Mr. Obama can´t let it work. He has to fight to preserve the central purpose of ObamaCare—to use the individual
Lindsey Vonn´s comeback attempt may be in jeopardy after she crashed in training at Copper Mountain, Colo., on Tuesday. The U.S. Ski Team confirmed that Vonn, who is trying to come back from major knee surgery, crashed Tuesday and is being evaluated. It is not clear whether she re-injured her right knee. She tore the ACL and MCL in that knee and fractured her tibia in a brutal crash on Feb. 5. "We have no reason to believe it´s anything significant right now," U.S. Ski Team spokesman Tom Kelly told the Associated Press.
Sen. Creigh Deeds, D-Bath, was stabbed multiple times early today at his Bath County home and his son, Gus, is dead from a gunshot wound, authorities said. Gus Deeds had been released Monday following a mental health evaluation performed under an emergency custody order.(Snip) A source told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the emergency custody order, or ECO, allowed Gus Deeds to be held as long as four hours to determine whether he should be held longer, up to 72 hours, under a temporary detention order. The son was evaluated Monday by the Rockbridge Area Community Services Board in Lexington. An emergency custody
With every passing day, ObamaCare´s flaws are being exposed in painful ways for the American people. What started as a broken website—and nonexistent Spanish one—is now snowballing into a full-scale disaster that makes it increasingly clear this law can´t be fixed. Under ObamaCare, people are being recklessly exposed to identity theft and fraud through the dysfunctional website and navigator network. Under ObamaCare, President Obama´s broken promise—that people could keep the health plans and doctors they were happy with—has made casualties of those plans and providers. Now people have to scramble to find new plans and doctors that often cost more than before.
It´s no secret that Sarah Palin is mighty steamed at MSNBC and Martin Bashir over his despicable remarks about the abusive treatment he imagines for her. And now she´s doing something about it. The former Alaska governor and Fox News contributor was scheduled to sit down with Matt Lauer for a Christmas season interview. That´s now toast. Palin has now canceled Lauer´s scheduled trip to Wasilla, a source close to her tells me. It´s not because Palin is upset with Lauer or the "Today" show, but as a protest against NBC for not taking action against Bashir. In fact, Palin once sat
´´Knockout´´ attacks have been reported in several states around the country and now investigators believe three people have been attacked in our area. Police in Lower Merion are investigating two attacks in the area, and Philadelphia detectives are investigating an attack in Northeast Philadelphia. It’s a violent crime that in other parts of the country has proven fatal. Videos from cities around the country show people being punched and beaten at random.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on a conference call organized by Karl Rove’s Crossroads organization for large donors and their advisers on Oct. 30 that the Tea Party movement, in his view, is a “nothing but a bunch of bullies” that he plans to “punch … in the nose.” On the call, according to a donor who was on it, McConnell personally named Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) as Tea Party conservatives he views as problematic for him. “The bulk of it was an attack on the Tea Party in general, Cruz in particular,” the source, a
A teen playing the "Knockout Game" in Lansing, Michigan unwittingly targeted a concealed carry permit holder and was shot twice. He survived and is now in jail. As Breitbart News previously reported, the "Knockout Game" thrives in areas where victims are unarmed. In the "game," teens approach a stranger on the sidewalk or in an alley and punch the stranger in an attempt to knock him or her out. A punch that results in a knockout scores one point. WILX in Lansing reported that teenager Marvell Weaver, who is black, tried to knock out a father who was standing at
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid´s finger is hovering over the big red button that will launch the Democrats´ nuclear attack against the United States Senate. By which we mean that, having secured 51 votes, Reid reportedly plans to advance a change to the body´s voting rules that would facilitate the approval of presidential nominees. KABOOM. That rules change, the much-discussed "nuclear option," is not an insignificant move for Reid. It´s not as bad as what happened in, say, Hiroshima in 1945, but it upends a long-standing tradition in the chamber. The problem in the Democrats´ view, as we´ve noted before,
WASHINGTON -- Democrats quickly enjoyed the first fruits of a milestone Senate vote making it harder for the Republican minority to block President Barack Obama´s nominations: They swiftly ended a GOP filibuster against one of his top judicial selections and prepared to do the same for two others. Over the longer term, they might regret what they did and how they did it, Republicans and others are warning. When Democrats muscled the changes through Thursday over the opposition of every GOP senator, it helped heighten Congress´ already high level of partisan animosity. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., used a process that
Today, President Obama and the Democrats are faced with the opportunity to take a timeout – a timeout from ObamaCare. I believe that they should delay ObamaCare for six months to a year. America’s health care system isn’t something that can be pieced together on an ad-hoc basis amidst failing websites, party infighting, bickering insurers and a confused American public. Since the website launched last month, it has become increasingly clear that the policy – and indeed the mechanics – weren’t ready yet. And while I, along with the rest of the American people, would’ve preferred that it had worked
Joining the hosts of MSNBC’s The Cycle on Friday, legendary NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw previewed a special on the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination that will air on MSNBC that night. Recounting his experiences from that day, he said that the reaction to JFK’s assassination, “mostly in conservative states,” was encapsulated by his interaction with one man who expressed satisfaction over the president’s killing. “This was unusual but it was not unheard of,” Brokaw told the MSNBC hosts, prefacing a conservative’s reaction to JFK’s killing. “As I came running out of the announce booth, the chief engineer,
To the average American, ObamaCare is part web site disaster, part shattered campaign promise writ very, very large. Millions of Americans have already been forced out of their existing health care policies, a number that may skyrocket in the new year. Russell Simmons sees it differently. The hip-hop mogul says ObamaCare is already so successful it´s saved thousands, if not millions of lives. Yes, we initially wanted single payer, and we had to compromise back in 2009 for the Affordable Care Act. But, it is a damn good piece of legislation that has already saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions of lives. So,
Appearing shell-shocked by the Harry Reid’s abrupt move to pass the “nuclear option” through the Senate, Republicans there issued ominous warnings to reporters outside the chamber. “When you start, it’s like wars — there’s no end to this. I don’t know where it goes,” says Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. “In my view this is the most important and most dangerous restructuring of Senate rules since Thomas Jefferson wrote them at the beginning of our country,” Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee says. Democrats have been open about wanting the change so President Obama’s regulations, executive actions and other unilateral decisions enjoy a
“Congress is broken,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday before holding a party-line vote that disposed of rules that have guided and protected the chamber since 1789. If Congress wasn’t broken before, it certainly is now. What Reid (Nev.) and his fellow Democrats effectively did was take the chamber of Congress that still functioned at a modest level and turn it into a clone of the other chamber, which functions not at all. They turned the Senate into the House. Democrats were fully justified in stripping Republicans of their right to filibuster President Obama’s nominees — yet they will
For the White House, November has been the cruelest month, with increasing worry among Democrats that a year from now could mean another midterm electoral disaster, similar to the results in 2010 when Republicans picked up over 60 House seats to gain control and netted six Senate seats as well. Each day produces a new poll with terrible numbers for the president and his policies. The Obama approval level has dipped below 40% in several surveys in recent days, and yesterday hit an all-time low of 37% in a CBS poll — a survey that in the past has often
