| The Senate Judiciary Committee was expected to take up several gun control measures today and mark up final legislation. The Committee, however, has put off action for at least week. The principal reason for the delay is to allow more talks on a possible compromise over the issue of background checks. For the past several weeks, Sens. Schumer, Manchin, Coburn and Kirk worked to finalize a bi-partisan compromise to expand background checks on private gun sales. Of course they delayed action on the bill. It´s Thursday noon and they only work Tuesday, Wednesday, and half day Thurs. Got to get home, you know. Probably next week is a vacation week. After all they only had a vacation last week and had to come back for 3 days.

I think #6 has it. The last attempt at gun control killed many Democrats´ careers. They know the public doesn´t want this; look at the record gun sales in the past two months. It´s why Obama went with executive orders. He knows the Congress won´t support him on this like they did Obamacare since that also killed many careers. It´s not in their best interests to push this, even if the far left loonies demand it.

I carry all of my guns and ammo in a child car seat. While shopping at the mall after dark, someone came and stole everything inculding the car seat. I was so happy there wasn´t a child in it that my tears of joy shorted out the cellphone . I´ll just have to mosey in and make a report - or just wait the Obama´s troops knock on door . That would be much more convenient, really.

Maybe the thought of millions of gun owners out here getting angry all at once started some stomach butterflies flying. Deep down, these slimy creatures realize that real Americans will not accept such a blatantly unconstitutional set of laws and will ignore their silly arguments. Why bother with a background check when there have been only 4 prosecutions for lying on the federal form? If felons and lunatics are going to lie to obtain their guns, all the background check does is inconvenience the law abiding citizens. And if you can´t ask someone if they have a criminal record when they are applying as school bus driver, why can you ask it when they are buying a gun?

White House officials have decided to go ahead with annual garden tours this year despite sequester cuts, an official familiar with the decision tells POLITICO. Tours of the White House itself remained canceled because the cuts have left Secret Service short on manpower to staff them. Arizona Gov. Janice Brewer has signed a law providing strong new restrictions on the use of so-called "seclusion rooms" in schools – closet-sized rooms where children with behavioral disabilities such as autism were being locked up as punishment. "It is chilling to imagine an Arizona school child being shut away in a padded room, no larger than a closet, for hours on end," Brewer said after signing the law Friday. "There has to be a better way." With the new law, Arizona will join more than 30 other states that impose rules on the restraint of students in public schools.

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Mary Jo White´s nomination as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, clearing the way for her to become the first former prosecutor to lead the agency that oversees Wall Street. White was swiftly approved Monday by a voice vote in the Senate. President Barack Obama nominated White for the job. She was the U.S. attorney in Manhattan from 1993 through 2002. North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
