Rush Limbaugh said that for the first time he was ashamed of his country and his words made the top Drudge headline and generated a ton of comments from talking heads in Washington. ´Ashamed´ isn´t the word I´d use but I share Limbaugh´s frustration with the endless lies told by members of both parties so that nothing ever changes but I believe he´s being disingenuous. We´ve never been fooled by the lies the politicians throw at us. Rush is just too polite to say is that he´s confounded by the stupidity of the American people who do fall for them.
FTA: Rush is just too polite to say is that he´s confounded by the stupidity of the American people who do fall for them.
We don´t live in a free society. At the very least our speech has been inhibited. But Rush has risen to the challenge. Half the fun of listening to his show (I´ve been a dittohead since ´92) is determining what he doesn´t say. Kinda like reading between the lines.
Alicia takes the gloves off. Nobody does it better. And she is right. The American electorate has been dumbed down to a ruinous degree. Time to abolish the Education Department and get back to excellence in our public schools.
Wonderful article, as usual, by Ms. Colon expressing both dismay and wonderment at the thought processes (or lack of) of voters who keep voting for people who are blatantly against their (the voters´) supposed values and interests. Thank you, Ms. Colon - love every word that you write - always.
Ms. Colon never disappoints. She understand exactly what is going on and why. She lays it out clearly for anyone who has an open mind. I have a fantasy of individuals with her mindset and moxie in Obama´s next press conference asking some pointed questions. I can´t decide if he would run crying from the room or scream, "Off with their heads!" He does remind me of the Queen of Hearts, and yes, I said Queen, and you can make of that what you will.
Rush didn´t say it because people in high places listen to his every word hoping they can sue him (again.) Rush is being careful; if he loses his ability to broadcast, America suffers. The cobras in the wings are ready to strike him down at the slightest hint of hate speech, illegality, sedition or other imaginary offenses.
Alicia sounds righteously cheesed off. I´m sure she reflects millions of Americans with her sentiments. Count me among them.

Talk about telling it like it is. This is just about the best essay ever.
I´m old, none of this is really going to change what´s left of my life much. My children and grandchildren will have to live with it, but they will have grown-up in it and will adapt. As my wife and I watch the madness it is interesting to see the accuracy of ´Brave New World´, ´1984´, Animal Farm, ´Lord of the Flies´, and The Time Machine´ come true. Now you know why these books are no longer read in public schools.
Those books are no longer being read but "The Hunger Games" trilogy is very popular with young people. Those books are a perfect illustration of where we´re headed. I saw it firsthand in Romania in the early 80´s and I saw Romania in the trilogy.
if there were ever to be a permanent must-read author on ldot - Alicia would be the one. When I open this site every morning I scroll backwards thru the overnight stories just to be certain I´ve not missed anything important, illuminating or entertaining. Many times I notice that some overnight repeat stories are closed due to a ´´previously posted´´ status, and that´s a shame since these stories often move fast once the sun rises.
This column is a keeper. Alicia is as peaced off as the rest of us but she has a mighty pen/keyboard and enviable talent for exposition and argumentation. I love her. I admire her. I envy her...
Excellent work Alicia, so much information and passion in this article. The examples of our world turned upside down unfortunately are just the tip of the iceberg. Somedays just thinking about it can be too overwhelming. If Obama could read that last statement I am sure he would be highly pleased. You have indeed put into words what so many of us know to be truth.
OMG--Alicia has hit this one miles out of the ball park. If only we could force the lofos to read this one every day till it penetrates their concrete skulls. Way to go, Alicia, you have perfectly expressed the rage and fear for our country that all sane people who love this country are feeling. God bless you, and God help us.
This is one of the best articles I have read in a very long time. I´m keeping this one! She really blisters the Democrats who really deserve it. How I wish it got a much wider circulation because every point she made is just incredible. Most of us here are familiar with the disgusting Creamer but I´m sure very few outside of this circle even know who he is and the horrific impact he has made on our lives. The Democrats are spawns of the devil.
Thank you Ms. Lucianne for making this a Must Read! The headline with Rush´s name got people´s attention. Kudos to Alicia who has outdone any writer of recent years in explaining exactly what is taking place.
I do agree, Rush is just too polite to say... that he´s confounded by the stupidity of the American people...
Americans who rely on the MSM and public education to inform and to educate them are akin to someone who has fallen down a well. There is no ladder to get them out until someone either lowers a ladder or throws them a rope.
Luckily for them there are "resuers" such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, and Fox News to name a few in the media. Also there are schools such as Hillsdale College as well as organizations like The Heritage Foundation which can tell them how to get out of their "trapped" situation.
Years ago I thought I was pretty smart until I woke up to how uninformed and in a "well" of manipulated information I was in. May God forgive me for being so stupid.
I´m too old, too #16. Made my choice after this last election this was my last vote. I´m leaving it to the younger generations. I have wondered so many times..."how could they..." how could Catholics; how could Black Americans; women vote for these guys? I´ve seen the "low information voter" gaining in the elections. The mind-numbed robots, who´d rather watch Dancing with the Stars or reality shows than take an interest in what´s going on politically around them. Finished with that in Nov. 2013. I thank Alica for her work/words. She spoke EVERYTHING for me
Alicia nails it as usual, an excellent companion piece to J. Paul Masko´s brilliant American Thinker article posted last week (Three Reasons Conservatives Are Losing.) Personally, I´ve given up debating with these morons. It´s impossible. Talk about mind-numbed robots.
Another superlative article by Alicia. Depressingly informative because we all see the great minds seeing and stating the obvious evidence of our national twilight.
I connected Alicia with Dr. Ben Carson in her highlighting Political Correctness as being one of the tools of our destruction:
FTA: "These media clowns are part and parcel of the leftwing cabal that grew out of the 1960s determined to destroy the independence and spirit of what made this country great by mainstreaming political correctness."
If they can mute us, they can neuter us. And they have.
#5: I think #1 was talking about Buchanan´s rant against Jennifer Rubin. [Is anybody really dumb enough to take on a brilliant Latina who writes for an Irish newspaper? I think not.]

#34 is correct. We dropped our support of the NRA because they supported Harry Reid and so many other America-hating Democrats. The NRA is run by fools, easily fooled.
When the white shoe, golf and celebrity set donning the great ship Republican blasted Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan and any Conservative who spoke out forcefully to set America back on its Constitutional rails.
They lost the battle for Hollywood They lost the battle for the schools They lost the battle for public education They lost the battle with the unions They lost ever damn battle that matters ... because no real American could believe it would come to this, so the battle was fough Ho-Hum and so-so.
Amen, #37. After this last election, I´ve become an "independent." the republican party keeps yapping about "reaching independents," so my mantra now is "what are you going to do to gain my vote???" I guess my message is getting through: the number of fund-raising calls from the GOP has dropped dramatically. Final thought: vouchers for schools, term limits for congress. It may be too late for either, but if we don´t do something drastic like these two measures, we might as well kiss it good bye.
Poster #8 is right. When you analyze what is going on and unwind all of the liberal tactics it comes down to our educational system. Granting school vouchers is the only solution. The left knows this and so do many thinking American parents. So, the liberal judges keep the kids in the liberal/progressive/anti-American indoctrination program called our educational system. Break that and the system will correct itself - after about 10 to 20 years. Yes, 10 to 20 years if we started TODAY. Therefore, we need to implement something in the interim while we work to dismantle our public/government school system. A good starting point would be eliminating ALL teacher and administrative tenure in all schools, especially colleges and universities.
This is a classic MUST READ as the devious agenda of the now apparently thoroughly radicalized statist dem party has come into crystal clear focus. The current micro-management goals, (-both regarding each individual American citizen as well as nationally!?!!), have been exposed by the dem pols´ own already implimented public policies emanating from THEIR beltway Boomtown! It has become glaringly obvious that the dem party´s radical statist agenda is in fact contrary to elected officials´ oaths of office. mmm mmm mmm
Tragically, the results of dem policies, aided & abetted by wobbly RINOS and the flunky lsm, produce neither, ´´domestic tranquillity,´´ nor national security, which are requirements of the elected´s OATHS OF OFFICE.
If Mr Limbaugh cannot state openly EVERYTHING that he feels, then he has been diminished. i see the comments that he is afraid of being taken off the air if he criticizes too strongly. that is pure nonsense. He is not reporting, he is expressing his opinion., All he has to do at the start of each show is to say he is expressing his opinion. That is FREE SPEECH. Furthermore, he can start his own station, like Mr Beck is doing. We know that the Obama Administration threatens anyone that does not agree with him and now they are starting to come out openly. Ms Colon is writing the truth. How about Mr Rush say exactly what he feels and not worry about about repercussions, if that is in fact what is occurring. The President threatens in PUBLIC. It is no secret. All my opinion- free speech.
"How on earth could a bill drafted by a man in prison (Robert Creamer) have passed without anyone reading its over 2,000 pager?" Seriously? That Creamer is the husband of Obama buddy, and D.C. insider, Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, might have something to do with it. Merely beltway business as usual carried out by corrupt, greedy, amoral weasels.
Alicia Colon: pro-amnesty reconquistadora and inspiration to high school journalists everywhere. I doubt she even knows who Pat Buchanon is.
You have a long and glaring history of coming on website and making no contribution on article but to snipe. In this case, your facts are wrong. Do it again, and you will be blocked. We are a news forum. LCom Staff.
Sad to read the comments of some QUITTERS on this thread. If we could have learned anything from Ho Chi Minh, it´s that the only ´battle´ you have to win is the last one. Many of the Left´s ´victories´ have been tactical but not strategic. Progressives have managed to awaken tens of millions of sleeping giants and filled them with a terrible resolve to restore a free Constitutional republic.
FTA: "The media has become treasonous because it no longer cares about truth and what´s good for the country if it harms the image of their lord and savior, President Obama."
This is one of our greatest EVILS of this time, the completely sold-out LSM to all things dRATS [as a whole]. This is like freedom of religion in Egypt currently, as long as you follow the Sharia Law controlled constitution and Muslim Brotherhood government.
We gave newspapers so long ago, "rights" akin to a doctor [keep sources a "secret," especially the unnamed high government official], except in their case, writers today don´t care if they "do no harm," but rather, do people see it´s MY byline.
"Freedom of the Press" comes with a sacred trust and promise to those who report and those of US who form our necessary opinions on living within our communities and beyond. We need their unBIASed take on issues that we vote on. In all this, even the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin lynching they manufactured at 0bama´s request, they fail US each time a tree falls in the forest, whether we hear it or not.
When more serious journos write more artciles like this and they begin to appear in wider circulation, this nation will begin the painful process of healing. Until then, we are still on the down slide.
How long will it be until principled democrats (oxymoron) stand up against Obama and his thuggish regime? In any group of men there are usually some within the ranks with the courage to put self-interest and safety aside to speak out. It was a handful of these type of men who signed their names to the Declaration of Independence. Even within the British House of Commons there were brave men who passionately opposed King George III in prosecution of the war against the rebellious American colonists. Where are such men today among the democrats? Where are they? Patrick, Saint George, Utah
Regarding post #46, I was responding to poster #1. Yes, I have misspelled Pat Buchanan´s name. Deeply sorry for that. As far as not making a contribution, that is a matter of opinion I suppose. I certainly don´t parrot the Talk Show Host Party line on every issue. People have taken to bullying me and calling me a troll, so I adopted the name. This site benefits from unorthodox opinions. It is a real shame that the Pol Pot mentality regarding thought purity is so alive and well here and among the "conservative" movement.
This article was just as good as all of you said. Every word was well chosen.
We have to push back against the education establishment. Georgia has authorized public charter schools. Woo! Woo! I watched and saved John Stossel´s show on public education. He says that New Orleans is making huge strides in education because the old sytem was washed away and charter schools have sprung up. I´m excited.
Kids have to learn to read. Block BET, MTV, VH, and Nickelodeon. Limit the video games. Grandparents arise!
#52, I would be very sad to see you removed from this forum, so I urge you to take a few deep breaths. Yes, provocative posts are what keep things interesting, but each of us needs to be careful. Certainly I do. Maybe I can explain why the staff considers your post incorrect. Alicia Colon is of Puerto Rican descent. Reconquista is a Mexican cause and I believe she would be as insulted to be lumped in with it as she would be to be considered no better than high-school journalists. I´m a fan of Colon´s,but I join you in not feeling affection for the "Talk Show Host Party line". However, she´s not really writing about Limbaugh in this piece. I have corresponded with Alicia Colon and she´s most certainly a person worth knowing and reading. Don´t get yourself booted, my friend.
Thanks for all the recommendations to read the article. It was well worth it and mirrors what most of us here think about what Obama and his regime are doing to this country and the lofo voters who support him no matter what he does. He should be run out of DC on rails. After a good tar and feathering that is.
Food for thought - Our duly elected legislators should - 1. Do what they think best for our Country? 2. Do what their constituents feel is best? Therein lies the dilemma! Do we constituents understand this paradox? Do our legislators completely and fully explain their votes and actions in their pursuit of "doing the best they can for our country?" Requires some thought, and some positive action! RINOS have a point -- just that their ´point´ has more or less, led America to Hell! Sorry, folks!
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Democrat Anthony Weiner said that the new sexting firestorm that set his City Hall campaign reeling last week will in the end make him a stronger mayor and better able to deliver for Staten Island and the rest of the city. "I´m going to be a successful mayor because of it, because it´s going to give me a level of independence," he told the Advance in an exclusive interview. "I´m not constructing a campaign around the approval of my peers. I´m constructing a campaign around the aspirations of my neighbors."
Rush Limbaugh began his radio show Monday morning by addressing the news that Cumulus Media, the second-biggest radio broadcaster in the country, plans to drop his show from its stations by the end of the year. Limbaugh assured his readers that “nothing is going to change” in terms of their ability to hear him every morning. “There was another POLITICO story that ran last night on this program,” Limbaugh began, referring to Dylan Byers‘ report. “Someday, I am looking forward to detailing all of this for you,” Limbaugh continued, but for now he said he “must use proper business restraint.”
Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew, who oversees the IRS, made the rounds of four Sunday morning TV talk shows (all but CBS’s Face the Nation) to promote President Obama’s latest “pivot” to the economy, but ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and CNN’s Candy Crowley failed to take advantage of the opportunity to press him on the IRS scandal. NBC’s David Gregory squeezed a question in at the very end of their session, but then didn’t follow up on Lew’s insistence “there’s no evidence of any political involvement.” Gregory: “Mr. Secretary, I’ll leave it there.
Not a bit like the vigilante posses in the movies, the Rev. Al Sharpton’s posse will be out in 100 cities this weekend. But although the mainstream media’s not admitting it, Al’s is a posse that is already flagging before it starts. Missing from the the Rev. Sharpton’s planned “Justice for Trayvon” day, is the real spontaneity and consensus of the posses of yore. Rev. Sharpton’s planned weekend protests in 100 cities, relies on the mainstream media and politicians of the day fueling the fire of racial unrest.
The cover of Friday´s edition of Rolling Stone magazine featuring Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The cover of Rolling Stone magazine has most often been the domain of musicians, actors, comedians, and the occasional politician. But this week, the periodical has raised eyebrows by letting Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev grace the famous front. The issue, which hits newsstands Friday, features an picture of an unsmiling Tsarnaev above the bolded legend "The Bomber." The subhead promises to reveal "[h]ow a popular, promising student was failed by his family, fell into radical Islam, and became a monster."
The 60 million yuan (£6.4 million) Jibaozhai Museum, located in Jizhou, a city in the northern province of Hebei, opened in 2010 with its 12 exhibition halls packed with apparently unique cultural gems. But the museum’s collection, while extensive, appears ultimately to have been flawed. On Monday, the museum’s ticket offices were shut amid claims that many of the exhibits were in fact knock-offs which had been bought for between 100 yuan (£10.70) and 2,000 yuan (£215). The museum’s public humiliation began earlier this month when Ma Boyong, a Chinese writer,
MSNBC came in a distant fourth place in the cable news ratings during the George Zimmerman verdict Saturday night despite three weeks of extensive trial coverage, Politico reports. In the 10-11 p.m. hour Saturday night, when Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, MSNBC had just 1,298,000 total viewers according to the preliminary ratings. First-place Fox News (3,682,000) had nearly three times as many, and MSNBC was also far behind HLN (2,203,000 viewers) and runner-up CNN (3,407,000).
On May 14, the FBI claimed they launched an investigation into the IRS fiasco. FBI Director Robert Mueller was famously told Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio on June 13 that he didn’t know the name of the lead investigator at the Bureau spearheading the effort. That’s almost a month into the alleged investigation. This is a national story. It’s a major scandal – and you don’t know who the point guy, or gal, that’s tasked with getting to the bottom of this debacle?
On a humid morning in Tanzania on Tuesday, two American presidents stood side by side in a ceremony where neither spoke. One was the son of a Kenyan whose election broke barriers for African-Americans. But it was the other one who might command as much, if not more, respect among many Africans today. While George W. Bush is remembered at home for war, terrorism and national security, in Africa he is seen as a lifesaver
Three weeks ago, Edward Snowden told the Guardian newspaper that “the sense of outrage” over the secret surveillance programs he had disclosed “has given me hope that, no matter what happens to me, the outcome will be positive for America.” But now that hope is being undermined by one man: Edward Snowden. The 30-year-old computer whiz seems all too concerned about what happens to him and entirely unconcerned about what harm he does his country in securing his safety. At the start, Snowden’s revelations to the Guardian and The Post promised to put him in the distinguished company of Daniel
The Obama administration has decided to delay until 2015 its enforcement of the employer mandate, a provision in its health-care law that requires businesses to provide insurance to employees. Assistant Treasury Secretary Mark J. Mazur announced the change in a statement on Tuesday, noting the administration’s concern that businesses won’t be ready to comply. My colleague Chris Flavelle writes that the decision boosts the odds that other groups will be able to win further changes to the law, such as eliminating the excise tax on medical devices. It may also create some stress on the implementation
LA PAZ, Bolivia — The plane carrying Bolivian President Evo Morales home from Russia was rerouted to Austria on Tuesday after France and Portugal refused to let it cross their airspace because of suspicions that NSA leaker Edward Snowden was on board, the country´s foreign minister said. Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca denied that Snowden was on the plane, which landed in Vienna, and said France and Portugal would have to explain why they canceled authorization for the plane. "We don´t know who invented this lie. We want to denounce to the
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.

Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
