'Downton Abbey´ will reportedly
add a black character in Season 4

Los Angeles Times, by Meredith Blake

“Downton Abbey” fans can expects some big changes when the series returns for a fourth season. And no, we’re not just talking about Lady Mary’s new life as a single mother or wild child Rose’s impending move to the Crawley family abode. If a report from the British tabloid the Sun is to be believed, “Downton Abbey” will be adding its first black character next season. According to the paper, producers of the hugely popular period drama have put out casting calls for men ages 25 to 30 to play “Jack Ross,” described as “a musician (singer) at an exclusive club in the '20s.”

Comments:
As Fafoon is safely rescued [or was that ransomed] from Dogton Abbey, we must turn our attention to our neighbors across the Pond and their Downton Abbey drama. We know the new cast member won´t be a "black" Prime Minister, as the timeline if set for the "roaring twenties."

If they´re doing this to pander to a black audience, the ones who are intelligent enough to enjoy the show are probably watching it anyway, I´d guess; and as far as I´m concerned the show is a respite from this mud puddle called cultural diversity and the celebration thereof.

At Downton, you´ve got Englishmen, Scotsmen, Irishmen and, My GOD, there´s even Americans! That´s all the diversity I require, thank you very much!

This is the show where the Lord of the Manor was more accepting and understanding of a homosexual servant who molested another servant than he was of his granddaughter being baptized Catholic.

Let´s not pass judgement before we have seen it - lest it lose some of it´s delicious flavor in the anticipation.

It´s pretty funny that whites will soon be a minority in London but they´re having a diversity breakthrough here.

What´s even funnier is the gay movement in this country has been steamrolling normal people but a football player´s draft value may fall because nobody knows if he´ gay or not.

I guess they could become completely politically correct and staff the show totally with black actors.

Have to change the name to something like "Detroiton Abbey," though.

DA jumped the shark when they brought in that idiot Shirley MacLaine at the beginning of Season 3. Then they made Lord Grantham an intolerant jerk, and killed off Matthew.

The only thing they did this season that I liked was kill off Sybil the twit. Too bad they didn´t kill off Branson as well.

Since I can´t stand most of the characters left, I´m done with DA.

All of the 14 reported infections from the H7N9 bird flu strain have been in eastern China and at least four of the six dead are in the financial hub of Shanghai, a city of 20 million people. The strain does not appear to be transmitted from human to human but authorities in Hong Kong raised a preliminary alert and said they were taking precautions at the airport.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter.
