Veteran journalist Bob Woodward said Wednesday he was threatened by a senior Obama administration official following his reporting on the White House´s handling of the forced federal spending cuts set to take effect on Friday. "They´re not happy at all," he said on CNN´s "The Situation Room," adding that an e-mail from a senior administration official - who he would not name - communicated a message which caused him great concern. "It was said very clearly, you will regret doing this," he said. Woodward penned a 2012 book reporting that the idea for the spending cuts,
I wonder if the Nixon admin ever threatened Woodward or Bernstein, or anyone else in the media. Obama has threatened many journalists, namely those at Fox. The first amendment is really pesky for Obama. Almost as pesky as the second amendment. In this age of Obama, if you like the first amendment, you better love the second.
It stands to reason that if Woodward is threatened at the beginning of Obama´s fifth year, there have to have been many others in the prior four years. Obama & Company obviously feel that now they can get away with anything. Good for you Mr. Woodward. Now I´d like to see other journalists come forward, and when they do they should be welcomed, not chastised.
Letting criminals loose Threatening journalists Arming terrorists Pumping money into our economy Dumping cash into global warming Extravagant vacations Spying on Americans with drones Benghazi Obamacare Kerry as Secretary of State Hagel as Secretary of Defense Snubbing Israel Apologizing for America Attacks on 2nd Amendment Fort Hood attacks not terrorism Fast and Furious Stimulus spending More debt than all other Presidents, combined
We do not have an Obama problem. He is the symptom. I am pretty much convinced that our nation is under judgement. In retrospect, 9/11 was an apocolyptic event. If ancient Israel is any example, our best days are not only behind us, our days may be over.
The arogance of the abomination administration is what will bring it down, and I suspect it will crumble.
It´s used separate phones, e-mail accounts, false names for those items, and I´m sure much more illicit means to hide from scrutiny and transparency.
Threatening a journalist of Woodward´s stature isn´t smart - he´s been there nearly 40 years and they´ll be gone in a couple. I´m sure other journalists are ready to break-out and report the pulitzer prize winning stories to come out of this regime.(and remember, Hillary is lurking in the shadows)
Mr Woodward has integrity, while the Obama Administration cannot even spell the word. Just wonder if other journalists are going to let Mr Woodward get all the glory. Maybe they will finally stop kissing Obama´s butt and start reporting the truth about the current Administration. There is enough information to keep them busy for years.
Since Woodward is a Democrat and Democrats can only advance their agenda by lying about it, one must wonder what is driving him to expose Obama like this. Has Woodward finally admitted to himself that after Watergate his old Democrat party was hijacked by the America-hating, enemy-loving socialist Left, with Obama now in the cockpit on a suicide mission? Has he suffered some personal slight from a White House demanding journalists do the exact opposite of what they did during Watergate, namely, cover-up for POTUS? Has he finally just succumbed to pangs of conscience, seeing every single one of his colleagues in the MSM behave like a mindless slave of Dear Leader?
Telling the truth is so foreign, so anathema, so verboten to any Democrat, journalist or otherwise, that one must search for underlying reasons in those rare occasions when it happens.
A baby boy found dead in a suspected shoplifter’s bag at Victoria’s Secret was born alive, weighing 81/2 pounds — and now cops are trying to figure out if he was murdered. Tiona Rodriguez, already the mother of a 2-year-old son, initially told police she was six months pregnant and suffered a miscarriage on Wednesday, sources said. But her lies were exposed after an autopsy on Friday determined the baby was nearly full-term at eight months. Officials said the autopsy was inconclusive about the cause of death. Results could take about two weeks. Sources said asphyxiation is one of the
Law enforcement officials are investigating a threat against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who was vaulted into national prominence with his push to defund ObamaCare. A person identifying himself as Troy Gilmore Jr., posted on Twitter Friday morning: “Take down Ted Cruz, at his home” and listed Cruz’s home address in Houston. “What goes around comes around CRUZ!!” the person wrote. The author of the threat uses the Twitter handle @ArmyVet54 and identifies himself as having served in the U.S. Army and Navy. Sean Rushton, Cruz’s spokesman, said, “We’re aware of it and have alerted the proper authorities.” “I can’t comment further on
Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.), the House Republicans’ longest-serving member, has died at 82, his family said in a statement Friday. Young passed away Friday evening at The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the company of his family, Young´s chief of staff, Harry Glenn said in an email. "The cause of death was complications related to a chronic injury. Information on services will be forthcoming," he added. Young served in Congress for 42 years, since 1971. He was chairman of the powerful Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, and previously chaired the full committee. He also served in the Florida State Senate
Dr. Ben Carson made waves last week when he said that ObamaCare is the worst thing to happen to America since slavery. On Friday, the good doctor explained to NewsOne radio’s Roland Martin why this is the case (video follows with transcript and commentary): DR. BEN CARSON: I didn’t say this is as bad as slavery. I said this is the worst thing since slavery. The reason I said that… ROLAND MARTIN: Which includes Jim Crow, which includes… CARSON: Yes, absolutely, including those, and I’ll tell you why I think that. This nation was founded on the principle that it
A House committee is probing the widespread technical problems with the launch of the ObamaCare website, including the contractors that were paid hundreds of millions of dollars to create it. The House Energy and Commerce Committee announced Thursday they have scheduled a hearing on the issue for Oct. 24, and have asked Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to attend. Committee member Rep. Leonard Lance, R-N.J., told Fox News´ Greta Van Susteren Thursday night he wants Sebelius to testify at the hearing but she has not so far responded "favorably" to the proposition. The committee, amid the dispute over
On Thursday, Breitbart News Network LLC announced a shift in its masthead, with 27-year-old phenom and longtime Andrew Breitbart protégé Alexander Marlow moving to editor-in-chief of the explosively growing news network. The goal of the change is to allow a faster-moving system while simultaneously freeing up other assets to provide better and deeper content. Breitbart.com has grown explosively since its founding last year, ranking higher than The New York Post, Daily Beast, and The Atlantic according to web traffic analytics firm Alexa. Marlow was the first employee of Breitbart News and sat at Andrew Breitbart’s side since its founding in Andrew’s
If there´s one thing just about everyone can agree on, it´s that the Republicans lost this fight—and badly. They surrendered on every point, except for a minor antifraud measure that will not alter the course of the Obamacare juggernaut by an inch. They are in such political disarray that even though John Boehner will almost certainly survive as speaker, he´s so thoroughly lost control of his caucus that there is, effectively, no one running the House anyway. All in all, the Great Shutdown Showdown was "a dead end for the GOP," ran the headline of a gleefully funereal postmortem by
The hits just keep on coming with Obamacare enrollee tales of disaster, with the latest joke that more people have actually completed an online application to journey to Mars than successfully signed into the White House’s websites for health reform exchanges. The Daily Mail reported that Twitter exploded on Thursday after it was revealed that 202,586 individuals had successfully signed up for the Mars One colony project to populate the red planet as soon as the technology becomes available. By comparison, the analytics firm Compete.com found that only 36,000 have registered for Obamacare via the official government site, Healthcare.gov. The Department
SPOTTED: Michelle Obama sitting down for a meal at a downtown Washington Italian restaurant on Wednesday, just hours before Congress passed legislation to fund the government and avert a default. The first lady was seen dining with two companions at Bibiana, arriving at 7 p.m. and staying for nearly three hours. While there was no word on what Obama treated her palette to, some of the fine eatery’s dishes include a “grilled ecofriendly pork chop” and “black spaghetti with Maryland jumbo lump crab.” In a late-night vote, the House passed the Senate’s bill
President Obama’s victory over congressional Republicans is likely to have a short shelf life. Even the president’s staunchest allies are skeptical that his triumph in the debt-ceiling battle has produced much capital for the White House to spend on priorities like immigration reform. “I don’t know that this changes anything,” one former senior administration official said. “I don’t think the president has new mojo from this.” “What did they really do? They brought the country to the same place where we were a few weeks ago,” the former official said. “This isn’t like he passed healthcare. He ended a government
There were a few times in recent weeks when Sophia Casey found herself mindlessly walking toward her laptop, ready to scan for new work messages as she’s always done at nights and on weekends. Then she would see the computer — powered down, closed and unplugged. And she’d remember: furlough. The Pavlovian twitch to constantly check e-mail had begun to ease just when Congress voted Wednesday to send Casey and her colleagues in the federal government back to work. Back to the office — and whatever mountain of messages lie waiting in the inbox after 16 days away. Casey’s total:
NEW YORK- A collection of Dr. Martin Luther King´s artifacts sold for more than $130,000 at an auction in New York, Heritage Auctions said. Maude Ballou, King´s close friend and personal secretary, had possession of the documents before they were sold Thursday. The artifacts included King´s handwritten outline of his 1960 Dexter Avenue Church Farewell Address, which sold for $31,350. Two letters that King wrote to Ballou from India while he was studying Gandhi´s philosophy of non-violence sold for $18,750 and $17,500. Two autographed chapters from his first book, "Stride Toward Freedom," sold for $8,125. "This was simply an unprecedented
The Obama administration’s hostility toward media and efforts to crack down on whistleblowers and leakers has created “a tremendous chilling effect” on substantive reporting, the Committee to Protect Journalists and veteran reporters said Thursday. The CPJ issued last week a scathing report, written by former Washington Post executive editor Leonard Downie, Jr., on the effects of the Obama administration’s efforts to control press coverage, burnish its image, and thwart unauthorized leaks. Downie joined a panel at the New America Foundation that included Joel Simon, executive director of the CPJ, and Rajiv Chandrasekaran, senior correspondent and associate editor at the Washington Post, to
The debt deal simply hastens the day of reckoning The conventional wisdom is wrong. The mainstream media — and their parrots in the Republican establishment — are claiming that President Obama decisively won the government shutdown battle. In fact, the narrative being peddled is that the GOP brand has been badly damaged, paving the way for a possible Democratic Party takeover of the House of Representatives in the 2014 elections. This is puerile nonsense. Tea Party Republicans, led by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, may have lost the battle, but they are poised for a major victory in the larger Obamacare war. Liberal
Rep. Peter King thinks Republicans in the House could have bargained for much more than they´re getting in a pending Senate deal, if only the House had kept the government open in September and focused on negotiations over the federal debt limit. "Instead we look like the crazies," King, a Republican from Long Island, told me this afternoon from Washington. "Shutting down the government, throwing barricades against the White House, and having Ted Cruz reading Dr. Seuss, this is like the theater of the absurd. Except that it´s serious."
In a statement delivered from the White House this morning, President Barack Obama said that now that Congress has enacted a continuing resolution to fund the government--that includes funding to implement Obamacare--he would like to negotiate with the House with the aim of enacting the immigration bill passed by the Senate earlier this year. The key provision in that Senate bill would allow illegal aliens currently in the United States to become legal residents here and get on a "path to citizenship." Critics of the "path to citizenship" call it an "amnesty" because it lets foreign nationals breaking U.S. law--including U.S. immigration
Hollywood action star and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been quietly lobbying key politicos for a legal loophole or a constitutional change that would clear the path for him to run for president in 2016. If allowed, Mr. Schwarzenegger would face off against Hillary Rodham Clinton, The New York Post reported. “Schwarzenegger has been talking openly about working on getting the constitutional rules changed so he can run for president in 2016,” a source said, The Post reported. “He is ready to file legal paperwork to challenge the rules.” The actor was born in Austria, making him ineligible to
Grover Norquist isn’t happy with the Defunders. The Americans for Tax Reform president told reporters today that they have a lot of apologies to make and bridges to re-build. “It’d be a good idea if they stopped referring to other Republicans as Hitler appeasers because they opposed the strategy they put forward which failed,” Norquist says. “I think if you make a mistake as big as what they did, you owe your fellow senators and congressmen a big apology — and your constituents, as well, because nothing they did advanced the cause of repealing or dismantling Obamacare.” Norquist refrained from naming the
As they wrap up their 13-month probe into the terrorist attacks in Benghazi that killed four Americans, congressional investigators have zeroed in on a press release issued the day before the murders by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. They also are seeking fresh testimony from former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. Staffers with the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations told Fox News they have reached the preliminary conclusion – as the Obama administration has long maintained – that no military rescue or remedy was feasible on the night of September 11, 2012, when U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens
"Forward the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns!" he said. Into the Valley of Death, Rode the 600. –Alfred, Lord Tennyson. On an October morning in the Crimea, 1854, British Lord Cardigan led his 600-strong cavalry force into a frontal assault of a fully dug-in and alerted Russian artillery battery. The charge was courageous. And it was suicidal. The Light Brigade was ripped apart in the Valley of Death. Commenting on the bravery and utter futility of the attack, French Marshal Pierre Bosquet declared: "C´est magnifique, mais ce n´est pas la guerre. C´est de la folie." ("It is magnificent, but it is
The bipartisan deal to reopen the government and temporarily lift the debt ceiling includes one small Obamacare element -- a provision that says people´s incomes must be verified before they can get Obamacare subsidies to help pay their insurance premiums. But this was not a concession to Republicans, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told CNN´s Jake Tapper on Wednesday. "It´s, you know, it is, frankly, a bit of a fig leaf, which we were happy to give, but that was not a negotiation. That was not what Ted Cruz and the others started to demand that we give them." [Video] Schumer noted
A Portland, Oregon man urinated in a Mt. Tabor reservoir Wednesday causing the city to take its critical water supply off line and dump millions in gallons of water. [Snip] officials saw five people throwing objects into the reservoir, while one person began to urinate into it [Snip] David Shaff, said that because of this incident, roughly 7.8 million gallons of drinking water will be discarded. He said the bureau often finds dead animals in the same drinking supply but the water isn’t dumped. “This is different,” Shaff told the newspaper. “Do you want to drink pee?"
It was the law. And liberals were determined to sabotage that law. To hold America hostage — in the middle of a war no less — until the law was repealed. Until the war was stopped. To do it, they used the Three C’s. Civil Disobedience. The Culture. The Congress. Let’s start with the law the Left was determined to overturn. That would be the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, passed by Congress on August 10,1964 at the request of a popular president, Lyndon B. Johnson. The resolution authorized the president “to take all necessary steps, including the use of armed force, to assist any member or protocol state
South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy doesn’t think the GOP’s “defund Obamacare” strategy turned out to be such a smart plan. “What did Republicans get for 16 days of a government shutdown with people being hurt? We have absolutely nothing to show for it, other than a damaged brand,” the tea party favorite told The Greenville News, noting that Republicans were ultimately forced to capitulate to the president. Gowdy said that the GOP ended up worse off after the 16-day shutdown than the party had been beforehand. “We had a government shutdown, we were at the precipice of hitting the debt ceiling and
