Is The Federal Government
Stockpiling Bullets? Behind
Sarah Palin´s Ammunition Claim

International Business Times, by Connor Adams Sheets

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 2/27/2013 6:21:33 PM

Sarah Palin wrote in a Facebook post that went viral on Tuesday that the U.S. government is stockpiling bullets in anticipation of any "civil unrest" that may result from the ongoing economic troubles facing Americans. But the claim that the feds are buying large amounts of ammunition appears to be based on a misleading anonymous email that made its way to many people´s inboxes beginning last summer. On Tuesday, Palin wrote a lengthy post about the debate over the so-called "sequester" that is currently gripping Washington, D.C. (Snip) And in this case, Palin appears to be wrong.

So HS needs that many "bullets", eh? According to the numbers in the article, that´s OVER ONE HUNDRED YEARS usage! Nah, they´re not stockpiling.

Thanks OP, for all the repeat Sarah articles. I like to be reminded of her. She is the best hope I have seen for a country truly in a state of disarray.
As for the bullets, I believed the story until I read the article this morning. It fits their pattern and passes the smell test. Now I am only slightly unsure. The fact I live with is that there is very little ammo out there, and what exists has been price gouged. Someone is buying up whatever has been made. Could it be freemen trying to stock up? Or maybe the communists wanting to hold onto power? Does it even matter?

I´m sure unscrupulous emails are put out from time to time. If the government doesn´t respond with the truth and lets the rumor ride, don´t you expect that people will become suspicious? Frankly, I think this administration loves this turmoil, because they refuse to be transparent.

Article references WaPo and Snopes for it´s "debunking" evidence. Both sources with a definite liberal bent. ´Nuff said.

The comment did succeed in getting her back into the news, didn´t it? If she has a concrete plan for dealing with this situation, I´d be happy to hear it. Otherwise, I´ve been hearing the same prediction since last summer, so it´s a bit old hat at this point.

This stockpiling reporting goes back to 2012. See the article: "ammo? what ammo? DHS takes unprecedented step of redacting mass ammunition purchase" from lewrockwell.com/slavo/slavo115.html, which was reprinted in turn from SHTFplan.com. The "redaction" follows on the widespread reporting of the DHS purchases of various kinds and quantities of pistol and rifle ammunition and can be accessed by searching the internet. The specification sheets to the suppliers are available for inspection. There appears to be an attempt to deny the written records of last year, and to discredit Mrs. Palin in the process. The record of DHS paperwork will not go away however.

I neglected to list the date of the "lewrockwell.com" report on DHS ammunition acquisitions. It is August 17, 2012.

Read the article twice.

Apparently, the author believes that WAPO is more qualified to assess motives than Palin, and like WAPO, sees nothing unusual in buying the next century´s practice ammo....all at once....during a budget crisis....while trying to keep arms and ammo out of the hands of taxpayers.

Sorry...I figure Palin is right on this one, just as she was on "Death Panels".

I wish she would go back to watching Putin from her kitchen in Wassilla. Everytime she does s poorly considered "me too " blast on facebook she reduces her credibility and starts to look like a crackpot instead of a smart potential leader of our country.

Reply 17 - Posted by: StormCnter, 2/28/2013 6:04:41 AM     (No. 9200311)

I don´t think the questionable part of Mrs. Palin´s claim is the government´s purchase of lots of bullets so much as her implication that the purpose is to use them against citizens. Against "civil unrest". Does she have a source for that charge? If not, it´s pretty irresponsible of her to make it.

Denver-based CNN journalist Jim Spellman says the total lack of media coverage of the legal travails faced by Fox News reporter Jana Winter for protecting her sources clearly demonstrates an anti-Fox News bias in the press. Spellman claimed in a tweet that if Winter, who faces a subpoena and potential contempt of court charges for protecting her sources, worked for the New York Times instead of Fox News, the case would be garnering far greater exposure. “Observation: If @janawinter, who may go to jail to protect sources, worked for @nytimes instead of @FoxNews the case would be huge,” Spellman tweeted Sunday night.

In the U.K., private ownership of firearms is virtually banned. Professional criminals can still get guns, of course, but for your typical thug, knives are the weapon of choice. Thus there has been a steady outpouring of concern over burgeoning “knife crime” in recent years. The Sun undertook a bit of investigative journalism to find out how easy it is to obtain knives illegally, and was shocked at the result: LETHAL swords, machetes and knives are being sold illegally to children — with no questions asked. Obama will release his budget this week, and we already know that he´s going to try to stake out a treacherous "middleground" as he attempts to cast himself as a bold centrist, willing to stand apart from leftist Democrats. He´ll do so by, reportedly, introducing a Chained CPI, which is a way of cutting Social Security by using a different inflation measure that won´t rise as much. Liberals are already livid. Congressman Jerry Nadler — who is part of the Democratic party´s Progressive Caucus — slammed the reports in a comment made on Friday: I am quite concerned by reports

While politicians talk about expanding background checks for gun owners, I’m starting to think that what we really need are IQ tests for political officeholders. The only problem is, that might leave us with a lot of vacancies in Congress and America’s statehouses. The debacle over New York’s rushed-through gun bill is one example of what happens when enthusiasm meets stupid. But another is to be found in Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), who supports a ban on full-capacity magazines without understanding what a magazine actually is. Last week, DeGette justified her position this way: “I will tell you these are ammunition,

Secretary of State John Kerry is worth some $200 million, give or take a yacht. So his decision to slap a 5% pay cut on himself in solidarity with government employees squeezed by sequestration won’t likely hurt him much. But he’s saving taxpayers another way, too — if unintentionally. And it’s downright troubling. How else is Kerry saving money? He’s failing to hire folks to fill key spots at his agency. Terrific. Think about it: With the North Koreans threatening nuclear strikes against America — and Kerry himself preparing to visit South Korea this week — wouldn’t it be a tad helpful

In March, the number of Americans who dropped out of the labor force increased by 663,000 which adds up to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer looking for employment. Zero Hedge reported: This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012, when the BLS did its census recast of the labor numbers. And even worse, the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3% - the lowest since 1979!But at least it helped with the now painfully grotesque propaganda

Going with his parental gut, President Obama applauded in 2011 when Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius barred girls under 17 from obtaining the morning-after pill without a prescription. He pictured 10- and 11-year-olds buying pregnancy prevention medicine as easily as bubble gum and drew a line. “As the father of two daughters, it makes sense to apply some common sense,” the President said. It would take superspin powers to portray the March jobs report as anything other than a huge step in the wrong direction. The US economy added just 88,000 jobs last month, 95,000 in the private sector as public payrolls fell by 7,000. The official unemployment rate ticked down a tenth of a point to 7.6%. 1. That is a paltry number of jobs, more or less matching assumed labor force growth per month. So the economy must add at least that many jobs just to keep the labor market at current depressed levels.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
