The Growing Tyranny of the Political Elite

| Recently, the White House released a photo of the president shooting skeet. But where´s the snap of him fishing for bass? Apparently the White House felt compelled to portray Obama as a marksman in light of the widespread pushback over the administration´s gun control agenda but felt no urgency to defend the prospect of the EPA´s potential regulation of lead in fishing weights. Yet the agency seriously entertained just such a ban last year. What´s next? The lead in barbells?

It´s time for a Constitutional Convention to be called to neuter the Federal government.

#1 I´m not in favor of that because the leftists would take over that convention and would make all the changes they would like and the Republicans would once again just roll over. How about we just enforce the Constitution as it currently exists? I would like to see a balanced budget amendment and an amendment that would require all legislation passed by Congress be applicable to members of Congress. No more special treatment for retirement or healthcare or anything else they get what they give us.

Although correct, Mr. Folks is too optimistic. Our Ship of Fools has sailed. Ah, all free (prosperous) people turn lazy and end up preferring "safety" to freedom.....and getting tyranny.

I do not know what a political elite is. There has been no evidence that an elite (the best of the best) exists in politics. There are nothing other than hacks governing in the government. At the very least a true elite in government would be trained in the principles of ruling from childhood. There is no such person in the U.S.A. At least not in government.

#4 I think thats a good question. I suspect that the real answer is kept in confusion because once its determined who or what actually directs the power that overrules an otherwise egalitarian society, they will become the targets for reprisal or retirement. Is Pelosi part of that elite? Are Hollywood starlets? Is it the mainstream media? Defining what makes the elite who or what they are will be very useful.

#5, why would you want someone "trained in the principles of ruling since childhood"? Ruling is what kings do, and they are in fact trained from childhood to rule. But this isn´t supposed to be a monarchy.

"elite" should not be confused with "privileged" or ´rulers´, etc.
To me an "Elite" would be someone, in or out of government, who has personal influence or access to politicians and authorities.
As such the "Elite" might not win every time but he/she has an excellent chance to avoid any serious setbacks.
The Kennedys would be my example. They seem to have escaped consequences for dozens of nasty acts.
The key is influence. You might not win but you have a much better chance. Much, much better.

Last night on "Triggers" there was an episode about combat shotguns. I must have watched more than 100 rounds fired. And, gee whiz, not one of them made a muzzle blast like the one in the photo of Obama "skeet shooting." Imagine that!

A massive screw-up by the state of California is being brushed off by Governor Jerry Brown with a barnyard expression: "Sh*t happens." The new eastern span of the Bay Bridge, a multi-billion dollar endeavor, turns out to have used faulty bolts to fasten the bridge to its pier. "A third out of 96 threaded steel rods -- 3 inches thick and 9 to 24 feet long -- snapped in early March after crews tightened them down with nuts."

No, it´s not the Onion, it´s the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune that bring this statement of support and plea for mercy for former Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. Katherine Skiba writes: Asking for mercy for former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus wrote to a federal judge last month calling Jackson intelligent, charming and entertaining - the "highlight of our karaoke nights." The correspondence from Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (D-Ohio) was among 14 letters made public Tuesday as Jackson and his wife, former Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson, await sentencing July 1.

Short answer - not yet. For all the words spread around recently about impeaching Obama over Benghazi, there is a curious ommission made in every single article and blog post I´ve read that advocates or predicts that Obama will be impeached. They all seem to be missing the words "high crimes and misdemeanors." Yes, I know - that silly Constitution seems to get in the way of our fun. But in order to impeach a president, you can´t just connect a few dots and proclaim conspiracy. There must be proof - hard proof

Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard has a must read column regarding the Benghazi cover-up by White House officials CIA career officials clearly and repeatedly identified Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda-linked Islamic terrorists as the culprits behind the murder of four Americans. Of course, this would cause embarrassment for the Obama team, especially in the few weeks before the election. They had been boasting for years that Al Qaeda had been decimated(snip)Ben Rhodes should be called to account for trying to divert blame away from Islamic terrorists and the Obama team members whose feckless negligence led to the Benghazi massacre.

There is something strange about the fast-rising European "crypto fascist" movements. They are peas in a pod -- with similar political programs, and similar nationalist and anti-capitalist rhetoric. They all hate the two Satans of Iranian propaganda, Israel and America. Yes, the Persian Gulf supplies 40% of Europe´s oil and therefore has vast political power in all the countries where the cryptos operate. Is Barack Obama really black? His love affair with the taxpayer-subsidized abortion provider Planned Parenthood suggests he has it in for his own people. Why doesn´t he care that PP´s founder was a radical racist eugenicist Last Friday, Obama became the first sitting president to address a Planned Parenthood national conference. In his introductory remarks, Obama paid homage to a "health clinic" (one of his many euphemisms) which opened in Brooklyn "nearly a hundred years ago." Since he was being careful with language, Obama didn´t bring up PP´s founder, Margaret Sanger

Before we get too far away from the Marathon bombing, it needs to be acknowledged that this was yet another incident in which the average American proved crucial. It wasn´t overweight and aging police Tac squads, lumbering around in their armor through a shut-down city, clumped together as perfect targets for an IED, crowded four to a doorway as they spoke to residents, with no sign of lookouts or adequate cover. The Boston PD was lucky they were not up against trained terrorists.

When it first became clear that the CIA’s Benghazi talking points had been altered, many of us viewed the White House as the prime suspect. After all, it served President Obama’s political purposes to claim, at the height of a political campaign in which he was taking credit for the fall of al Qaeda, that the death of a U.S. ambassador was down to spontaneous outrage over a video, rather than pre-planned terrorism. It turns out, however, that the State Department was the prime culprit. It was State that pushed back hard against the original talking points.

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

The buyback program was announced a month after last December´s elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn., by city leaders sick of hearing about gun violence. Former Gov. Mark Sanford completed the trail to political redemption Tuesday with a win over Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch to reclaim his old seat in Congress. Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. Turnout was heavier than expected, with about 32 percent of the district’s 455,702 registered voters casting ballots. Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. It’s a remarkable comeback for a man many pundits had written off after his highly publicized affair with an Argentine

There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. Mark Sanford has won the South Carolina special election in a competitive race for what in normal circumstances is a safe Republican seat. The former governor beat Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of comedian Stephen Colbert Busch, for the state’s 1st congressional district. The AP called the race for Sanford early in the evening, with the Republican leading Colbert Busch 54 percent 46 percent.
