The beautiful baby dumped in a
Walmart bag: Adorable pictures
of tiny Chloe as cops search
for mother who abandoned her

A baby who was found dumped in the street in a Walmart plastic bag last week has now been released from hospital, as authorities continue to search for her family. The newborn, named Chloe by hospital staff in Houston, Texas, is now a week old and even has her first tooth - which she showed off to photographers as she smiled for cameras on Monday. She was found outside an apartment complex on Tuesday last week after a woman´s dog picked up on a scent and led her to a bag, where she made the startling discovery.

Comments:
Angels were surely watching over this tiny girl! She is absolutely precious.

Mom 0, Dog 1. Good doggie. Not quite sure here, as much as I like the dog story and human survival story, something doesn´t quite smell right. A tooth already? I guess my 2 month old grandson needs to step up his game.

What a precious baby. Thanks to those who found and brought her to safety, she will now - hopefully - get the loving parents she so richly deserves. God bless that little angel!

I´ll bet there have been hundreds of calls from people who want to adopt her.

I don´t understand anyone dumping a baby anywhere but a church or a hospital. Or even a police station. Just tell them you can´t care for the child and they set the gears in motion with no charges against you. Everyone would rather that than to have a baby dumped out in the elements and at risk.

I thought Texas had that program that a parent could drop off a child at a firestation/police station without questions?

Democrats across the country are disapointed that she wasn´t aborted a week earlier.

Reply 12 - Posted by: Razorgirl, 2/27/2013 10:56:29 AM     (No. 9198876)

Don´t judge the mother too harshly. I am thinking maybe some frightened young kid of 13 or 14 who didn´t have a clue what to do. She was probably unaware at that age of her options and probably had no way of getting to a drop off place anyway. Maybe she was afraid of what her parents would do to her if they knew she was pregnant. I personally know a girl who stayed home from school one day because she thought she had a stomach bug only to give birth to a full term baby boy. Neither she nor her mother knew she was pregnant. They laugh about it now (6 years later) because the first responders didn´t know who to put in the ambulance, the new mother or the new grandmother.

Why are people automatically assuming the MOTHER dumped her there? Is there no reason to think a boyfriend or even a parent, may not have left the baby?

I don´t know about the rest of you, but I wasn´t in any shape to go outside and dump a baby after giving birth to any of my kids.

Reply 14 - Posted by: zephyrgirl, 2/27/2013 11:05:47 AM     (No. 9198916)

What a lovely child. Find a responsible two-parent family to bring this child up.

What scares me is if the authorities do find the mother, the social workers will go to work and convince her to keep the baby. It happened here in Denver a few years back with a baby who was dumped at the back door of a chinese restaurant.

Reply 15 - Posted by: Lou E Brown, 2/27/2013 11:08:09 AM     (No. 9198922)

About the tooth: the article did mention that it was a genetic trait that might help to locate the parent or parents, or at least make some connections in past such births with teeth. Also, the Texas program for taking in the abandoned if the person can´t support it is only known to people who have been semi-educated and can read a simple news story....or even search on line for best ways to abandon the unwanted baby. One of the people involved should have known such a program exists, but only a week or so ago I read of a 12 year old who delivered the baby herself, used scissors etc and did not want her parents to know. Go figure the mind of a desperate person.

As far as I am concerned. Mark Sanford’s win over Curtis Bostic in South Carolina’s First Congressional District GOP runoff represents an unanswered prayer. Sanford continues to combine his mastery of therapeutic psychobabble with an ill-fitting Christian overlay that should be a dead giveaway, as Sanford himself all but acknowledged last night. Sanford is, of course, on a journey of discovery — make that a very long journey, involving the false modesty of the royal we: “It’s been a very long journey. Dr. Carson became a media sensation in January when he questioned Obamacare and progressive taxation in a speech to the National Prayer Breakfast as President Obama sat just a few feet away from him. With his new prominence, Carson has apparently also riled some liberals, including these Johns Hopkins students.

Of all the arguments public-school advocates have used to hoodwink generations of parents into condemning their own children to years of state-controlled subservience training, one of the most successful is that without public schools, children cannot be properly "socialized," and will therefore be ill-prepared for life in the "real world." [Snip] The basic premise of the argument for public schools as necessary tools of socialization is that learning to get along, or fit in, with children one´s own age is a vital life skill. Is it?

The mysterious disappearance of about 30 dogs in southern Idaho has baffled animal control officials and raised concerns among dog lovers after a German shepherd was found with its head crushed in a suspected ritual killing. The missing canines range widely in size, breed and age. "The dogs seem to vanish into thin air," said Debbie Blackwood, director of the animal shelter in Twin Falls, Idaho. Officials say some 30 dogs have gone missing in recent months in Twin Falls and nearby communities in an agricultural region in south-central Idaho known as the Magic Valley.

Not since 1984 and the landslide victory of Ronald Reagan have the Republicans had a more winnable election than the 2012 presidential election. Yet the Republican Establishment managed to lose to the worst and most vulnerable President in modern history, with historically poor approval ratings, unemployment averaging over 8.7% during his entire first term, a stagnant economy and someone who ran the smallest and most absurd of all possible re-election campaigns.

But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
