Immigrants are to be banned from receiving legal aid to launch court battles against the government in order to claim benefits. David Cameron last night vowed to stop Britain being seen as a ´soft touch´ as he revealed the first details of a plan to curb the access foreigners have to public money. The Prime Minister said ministers were scouring the tax and benefits system to close loopholes which make it too easy for newcomers to Britain to claim handouts. ´Our message is very clear. We want immigration that will benefit Britain,´ he insisted. Limiting legal aid in cases involving

Notice Cameron isn´t beginning his savings in taxpayer dollars by freeing hundreds of illegal immigrants from jail.

Is Cameron going to cut off putting foreigner parasites into mansions which cost their taxpayers thousands of pounds per month?

´That is just one element of a huge range of measures to make sure that people who do come here are coming here because there is a particular job of work they want to do – rather than coming here because they want to use the health service or get a council house.´

Commuters were facing a miserable return to work today after the Christmas holiday, as the stormy weather wreaked havoc on the road and rail networks. Millions of workers and schoolchildren were due back at their desks this morning after the festive break but they were warned to expect closures, delays and cancellations as torrential rain and gales continue to batter the country. The south of England, Wales and coastal areas across the country are bracing for heavy rain and winds of up to 70mph for at least another two days, as emergency services attempt to cope with the trail of devastation caused

Roma gangs are using children to sneak through metal security bars on windows and plunder properties on one of Britain’s most exclusive streets. [Snip] In one case, a child’s footprint was found on an inside window ledge. It seems the youngster was passed through narrow bars to prise open an unlocked sash window. Hundreds of pounds and a television were stolen. Roma immigrants have also been seen rifling through bin bags for bank statements so they can sell credit and debit card information to identity thieves. Thousands of Romanians and Bulgarians are expected to head here in the coming months, after

Stroke patients are being left permanently disabled after having to wait more than a day for vital brain scans at NHS hospitals. Ideally, they should have a CT scan within an hour of arrival so that they can be given brain-saving drugs if doctors think they are suitable. [Snip] Yet at the worst eight hospitals, one in five patients waits more than 24 hours. According to figures from the Royal College of Physicians’ latest stroke audit, covering three months last spring, the average wait at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital--one of these eight--is above ten hours. The public housing authorities in Charleston and North Charleston will be getting a small piece of nearly $57 million in federal grants awarded this week to help some clients make the transition to self-sufficiency. The clients are people who have agreed to leave the Housing Choice Voucher program, commonly known as Section 8, within five years. In exchange, the clients get a financial incentive to succeed, and a coordinator to help them achieve their goals. In the voucher program, people with low incomes find privately-owned rental housing, and the federally-funded vouchers typically cover most of the rent and utilities. The

A fully armed Royal Navy warship was scrambled to challenge a missile-carrying Russian vessel in the waters off Britain just days before Christmas, defence sources revealed last night. In a calculated test of Britain’s reduced naval capacity in the North Sea, the Russian warship came within 30 miles of the coast. It was detected nearing Scotland, but the only ship the Royal Navy had available to respond after Ministry of Defence cuts was in Portsmouth, resulting in a delay of 24 hours until it was in position. In the seasonal tradition that I invented some years ago, my first column of the year is devoted to anti-predictions: that is, things that will not happen in the following 12 months. Needless to say, the rules require that these must not be the easy, wildly unlikely options--an asteroid destroying the planet, the scientific community admitting that it was wrong on global warming, or England winning the World Cup. A secretive U.S. spy court has ruled again that the National Security Agency can keep collecting every American´s telephone records every day, in the midst of conflicting decisions in two other federal courts about whether the surveillance program is constitutional. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court on Friday renewed the NSA phone collection program, said Shawn Turner, a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Such periodic requests are somewhat formulaic but required since the program started in 2006. The latest approval was the first since two conflicting court decisions about whether the program is lawful and since a presidential

President Obama is pushing back against attempts to rein in the National Security Agency’s electronic intelligence collections, and well he should as commander-in-chief.
