The parents of Trayvon Martin are asking people to mark the one year anniversary of the teenager´s death in a controversial case by wearing hoodies during a candlelight vigil tonight. Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, the teenager´s parents, and their lawyers will be hosting a Million Hoodies Candlelight Vigil in New York´s Union Square. They are asking supporters to join them "for a moment of silence in honor of Trayvon Martin and all victims of senseless gun violence." Communities around the country are expected to host similar events tonight. Martin, 17, was shot and killed

Comments:
They´re still pushing the cherubic angel picture of Trayvon, now calling it an ´undated photo´.

Too bad they are paying this much attention to their son now, instead of before his choice to adopt the thug life. Maybe they could have helped him choose a path with a longer life span.

No problem with the moment of silence for victims of senseless gun violence. From what I read their son doesn´t appear to fit within that group. And I hope they realize that he most likely fits into the group that cause the senseless gun violence i.e., the criminal class.

Yet another reminder of the socially and politically damaging effects of an incredibly, unconscionably sluggish justice system. We STILL do not know what happened that led to the death of Trayvon Martin! For that matter, we STILL do not have all the facts about the Fort Hood Massacre, the Gabby Giffords shooting, or the Newton murders - to mention just a few high profile cases.

Public officials and law enforcement fiddle and dawdle while Rome burns. They dribble out information, refuse to make facts public, and do everything they can to slow down and obstruct the wheels of justice. Meanwhile, a yellow press and media sensationalizes the story 24/7, politicians, zealots, opportunists and cranks swarm to the cameras and microphones and begin to generate and propagate narratives to suit their interests. In the absence of reliable facts and official determinations, these fantastic narratives sprout and grow like mushrooms in the dark.

This simply will not do. Some means must be found to investigate and address these explosive public crimes in a timely manner. Delaying and delaying for months and years, while all kinds of theories, claims, stories, allegations etc. are spread throughout the media is destructive and dangerous to the social fabric. The digital age of instantaneous communication is here. Public officials, including the justice system, must not keep trying to run on sun-dial or water-clock time. They need help in speeding up responses so that the public can know what actually happened within a reasonable time frame.

Monks´ cowls? Candlelight procession?

Yup - - he´s now officially a Saint!

This day is call´d the feast of Trayvon.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam´d,
And rouse him at the name of Trayvon.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ´To-morrow is Saint Trayvon.´
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say ´These wounds I had on Trayvon´s day.´

Oh, just something that popped into my head.

FTA: The parents of Trayvon Martin are asking people to mark the one year anniversary of the teenager´s death... case by wearing hoodies....

How do they decide who will "mark the anniversary" of the stalking and attack on community watch volunteer George Zimmerman by having their heads beaten against concrete sidewalks?

How about getting "contributions" of jewelry to be fenced from innocent third parties?

#7: Shouldn´t St. Tray´s involvement in 2 out of 3 ["senseless" and "violence"] be enough?

I get the impression that Trayvon´s parent´s view of him was quite a bit different that who he really was. But since minorities always get the benefit of the doubt, they will be given victimhood status and Trayvon, sainthood.

When someone starts running around acting violently and hurting people, they occasionally will run into someone that has decided to go armed to protect themselves from such violent thugs.

CCW has made working conditions for violent thugs much more dangerous.

Absolutely zero sympathy for this violent thug. He got exactly what he deserved, it should happen more often, without the media lying about the "poor victim".

Zimmerman needs to be freed.

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
