Fed Faces Explaining Billion-Dollar
Losses in QE Exit Stress

Bloomberg News, by Craig Torres, Josh Zumbrun*

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke’s efforts to rescue the economy could result in more than a half trillion dollars of paper losses on the central bank’s books if interest rates rise abruptly from recent levels. That sum is the difference between the value of securities in the Fed’s portfolio on Dec. 31 and what they may fetch in three years, according to data compiled by MSCI Inc. of New York for Bloomberg News. MSCI applied scenarios devised by the Fed itself for stress-testing the nation’s 19 largest banks. MSCI sees the market value of Fed holdings shrinking

“The political backlash could be particularly acute given that a good portion of the funds that would otherwise be remitted to the Treasury would be transferred to large financial institutions in the form of interest paid on reserves,”

What this means, boys and girls, is that the Fed will negotiate some HUGE buyout with the big banks that are holding the paper. This will mean as much as $100 billion directly to the banks bottom lines. So, hold on to your banking stock.

The consequences of artificially holding down interest rates and pouring massive amounts of money into the system will eventually be catastrophic. I´m visualizing wheelbarrows full of Deutsche Marks - I mean US dollars - to buy a loaf of bread.

Seven Minimum Wage Facts
That Have Democrats Worried
Breitbart Big Government, by Wynton Hall    Original Article

With the midterm elections just over 300 days away, nervous Democrats reeling from the Obamacare debacle are hoping a big push to raise the minimum wage will be the silver bullet that will spare them from the historic losses they suffered in 2010. Democrats and unions are busy working to get minimum wage initiatives on state ballots in the hopes of creating an electoral “minimum wage magnet” to attract low-income, minority, and union voters to the polls. Seven minimum wage facts, however, may diminish Democrats´ high hopes. 1. Just 2.8% of American workers earn at or below the minimum wage.

Have you ever been pigeon-holed at a party by a liberal? I recommend avoiding it at all costs, but if it happens, go with it. You’ll get an education in what our opponents actually think as he rails, whines and complains about the terrible, inhuman monster that lurks on the fringes of American society. This scourge is called a “conservative,” and I hope I never meet one in a dark alley. They apparently carry automatic weapons as they stalk the streets, hating science and hunting the poor for sport. You’ll quickly note how your liberal monologist – they literally never

Zero Tolerance, Reconsidered

Schools across the country are rethinking “zero tolerance” discipline policies under which children have been suspended, even arrested, for minor offenses like cursing, getting into shoving matches and other garden-variety misbehavior that in years past would have been resolved with detention or meetings with a child’s parents. These reappraisals are long overdue. Studies have shown that suspensions and expulsions do nothing to improve the school climate, while increasing the risk that children will experience long-term social and academic problems. Federal data also indicates that minority students are disproportionately singled out for harsh disciplinary measures. These policies date back to 1994,

Confirmation of Janet Yellen, fight for employment insurance, we´re going to have those NSA reforms. Sort of ticking off all these issues. They sort of left out healthcare completely and

For a network whose news anchors had insisted that the so-called “deal” to rid Syria of chemical weapons, hammered out in Moscow and eagerly embraced by a short-sighted White House, was a great success, this is a pretty glaring admission. The fighting in Iraq between the government, assorted tribes, and Al Qaeda-linked militants has exploded again in recent days, culminating in the fall of the city of Fallujah to Islamic fighters. This development prompted the capable NBC News reporter Richard Engel to admit that the collapse of the Iraqi government in Anbar province has as much to do with the

Cold weather caused more chaos across the country today as a plane skidded off the runway at New York´s JFK airport and NFL stars risk frostbite in one of the coldest games ever. The thermometer at today´s playoff game against San Francisco is expected to rival the legendary 1967 Ice Bowl and the mercury at Lambeau Field could drop to a bone chilling minus 7 - but with wind chills that could drop to at least -40 below - exposing the players to the elements. First Lady Michelle Obama failed to accompany President Obama and their daughters home from Hawaii today, a decision that will likely incur taxpayers at least a couple of hundred thousand dollars in costs. The White House described the move as a “birthday gift” from President Obama to his wife, allowing her to “spend times with friends ahead of her upcoming 50th birthday,” which occurs January 17. But for this gift, you are footing much of the bill. I estimated some costs a year ago when, on their previous vacation to Hawaii, it appeared that Michelle was going to stay in Hawaii

President Obama is pushing back against attempts to rein in the National Security Agency’s electronic intelligence collections, and well he should as commander-in-chief.
