Is the Post ‘pro-gay’?
Washington Post, by Patrick B. Pexton

Original Article

I get a steady stream of e-mails and phone calls from readers who assert that The Post has a “pro-gay agenda” and publishes too many “puffy” stories about gay marriage, and that it even allows too many same-sex couples to appear in the Date Lab feature in Sunday’s WP Magazine. “The conservative, pro-family side gets short shrift,” as one reader recently put it, and The Post “caters slavishly to Dupont Circle.” Indeed, that reader got into a vigorous three-way e-mail dialogue with a Post reporter and me over the issue, an exchange that goes to the heart

Comments:
Answer from "Ombudsman"? Yes - but it is the civil rights issue of our time. And since a reporter and paper´s first concern is "social justice" - it is OK.

Their pro gay-bias goes way back before it became a "civil rights" matter. I remember a fathers day issue where there was no story on traditional fathers but two on gays and in the book review section more pro gay reviews. That was when I stopped having that paper in my home.

In the early 2016 Republican presidential sweepstakes, could former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush be the beneficiary of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie´s recent stumbles? That´s the question a number of analysts are starting to ask as Christie, formerly a clear favorite of the GOP establishment, starts to lose his luster, tarnished by months of critical headlines about the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal in New Jersey. I sense a boomlet about Jeb Bush is all about Chris Christie," said Harvard University´s David Gergen Sunday on CBS´ "Face the Nation." Vladimir Putin seems to have lost touch with reality, Angela Merkel reportedly told Barack Obama after speaking with the Russian president. He is “in another world.” “I agree with what Angela Merkel said … that he is in another world,” said Madeleine Albright, “It doesn’t make any sense.” John Kerry made his contribution to the bonkers theory by implying that Putin was channeling Napoleon: “You don’t just, in the 21st century, behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on a completely trumped-up pretext.” Now that Putin has taken Crimea without firing a shot, and 95 percent of a Crimean electorate voted

Marco Rubio is smack in the middle of the current polls for the 2016 presidential primary. But he may be the early frontrunner when it comes to offering a realistic conservative agenda for reforms that address the economic challenges of modern America. And whether or not he pulls the trigger on a White House run, the U.S. senator from Florida is already helping to refashion the GOP once again into the Party of Ideas. In a series of smart domestic-policy speeches this year, Rubio has generally avoided the easy, reflexive response as to what’s gone terribly wrong with the American

What has been happening in Ukraine is not a wake-up call precisely but a tugging at the attention, a demand to focus. There´s a sense that in some new way we are watching the 21st century take its shape and express its central realities. Exactly 100 years ago, in August 1914, the facts that would shape the 20th century gathered and emerged in the Great War. History doesn´t repeat itself; you can´t, as they say, step into the same stream twice. But it does have an unseen circularity. Sept. 11 started the century and brought forward the face of terrorism. MADISON, Wis. – Investigators in Wisconsin say a home invasion in which a man was severely beaten and his pregnant wife was repeatedly sexually assaulted stemmed from a mistake. Madison police say the attack was spurred by a neighbor´s girlfriend, who hoped to have him robbed. But the suspects instead stumbled into the wrong home in an affluent Madison neighborhood. A criminal complaint filed Tuesday says the suspects beat the man who lived there with a handgun and assaulted his wife, who was six months pregnant. Both were hospitalized. Six people have been charged in the attack. Three men face

With Vladimir Putin’s dispatch of Russian troops into Crimea, our war hawks are breathing fire. Russophobia is rampant and the op-ed pages are ablaze here. Barack Obama should tune them out, and reflect on how Cold War presidents dealt with far graver clashes with Moscow. 7 questions for Darrell Issa to

California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has recalled embattled former IRS exempt organizations division head Lois Lerner to testify on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Lerner’s apology for improperly scrutinizing and harassing conservative groups applying for non-profit status kicked off the IRS targeting scandal ten months ago, and Lerner has been stonewalling ever since (famously trying to invoke the Fifth Amendment the last time she testified but failing because she made a statement attesting to her innocence first). Her lawyer said she intends to “continue to assert her Fifth Amendment rights.” Since she already waived them, Issa

In a move sure to reignite the IRS scandal that rocked the agency and the Obama administration last Spring, House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa is recalling disgraced IRS official Lois Lerner to a March 5 hearing, demanding that she resume her testimony before his panel. In late May, Lerner delivered an opening statement to Issa’s committee before invoking her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. The panel later voted that, in making that statement, in which Lerner declared she had done nothing wrong, the former head of the IRS’s Exempt Organizations division had waived her Fifth Amendment rights.

Hundreds of jubilant antigay activists took to the streets of the capital, Kampala, on Monday, shortly after the president signed the bill into law. If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Scientists believe bergamot, a fragrant Mediterranean citrus fruit which gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavour, can significantly lower cholesterol. They say it contains enzymes known as HMGF (hydroxy methyl glutaryl flavonones) which can attack proteins in the body known to cause heart disease. The study found bergamot could even be as effective as statins, used to control cholesterol but which can have side effects in
