| Funny. Sexist. Sassy. Awkward. Seth MacFarlane was referred to with all these adjectives and more after his gig as host of the 85th Academy Awards on Sunday night. The "Family Guy" and "American Dad" creator received mixed reviews for his singing, dancing and jokes, with Time TV critic James Poniewozik dubbing MacFarlane "American Dud." (Snip) So was there much surprise that one of MacFarlane´s opening numbers was a little ditty titled "We Saw Your Boobs"? "I´ll limit my discussion of ´We Saw Your Boobs´ to noting how, um, nakedly it put into relief a recurring theme in last night´s ceremony:

We haven´t liked anyone since Billy Crystal, and we were at a party - not glued to the TV - so he seemed OK. Some lame jokes, but there are always lame jokes at these affairs.
Most of us had never heard of him before.

"Family Guy" was one of the reasons I decided to give away my TV in 2000, and considering how much further the medium has degenerated since then, I´m very glad that I did.
There have been offensive entertainers for years. But few seem to revel in being offensive quite so much.

I´m not usually impressed with the emcee, so was not really disappointed. The jokes were lame and too ´inside Hollywood´ for the average viewer. Maybe M´Chelle will be chosen for next year - with her ´70s protest ´doo.

Two defendants in military sexual assault cases cannot be punitively discharged, if found guilty, because of “unlawful command influence” derived from comments made by President Barack Obama, a judge ruled in a Hawaii military court this week. Navy Judge Cmdr. Marcus Fulton ruled during pretrial hearings in two sexual assault cases — U.S. vs. Johnson and U.S. vs. Fuentes — that comments made by Obama as commander in chief would unduly influence any potential sentencing, according to a court documents obtained by Stars and Stripes.

An alleged member of multiple Mexican drug cartels reportedly confessed to more than 30 killings across the United States. Jose Manuel Martinez allegedly admitted to the killings while being questioned by police about his connection to another murder in Alabama, police announced Thursday. Authorities say they have connected him to 10 murders in California and two in Florida, MyFoxAl.com reported. Police were able to track down 51-year-old Martinez after he was picked up in Arizona as he attempted to cross into the U.S., the station reported. He was extradited to Alabama where he made the alleged confessions.

There is no evidence that the FBI has contacted a single tea party group in its criminal investigation of the Internal Revenue Service, according to the groups the IRS abused. “We have not been contacted by any federal investigative agency and, to date, none of our clients have been contacted or interviewed by the FBI,” Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice told The Daily Caller on Thursday. In the midst of the eruption of near-daily scandals involving the Obama administration, let us not forget that until just a few months ago, Hillary Clinton was the most significant persona within that administration besides the president himself. Over the years, I’ve read plenty of claims that we’re witnessing a “crackup” of liberals or conservatives (or sometimes both at the same time). Normally, I react by rolling my eyes. For me, “crackup” claims are a almost always hack way of expressing unjustified triumphalism. But now I think I see a crackup. Given the scandal-a-week Obama administration, you might think that the crackup, if any, is looming on the left. But that would be to ignore the left’s tendency to march more or less in lockstep through any scandal or storm. No, the crackup I see coming is among conservatives.
