Privatization Shellacs Obamacare Model
American Spectator, by David Catron

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 2/25/2013 7:30:27 AM

An excruciating irony of Obamacare is that its architects modeled many of its features after the UK’s National Health Service. The NHS is a classic system of socialized medicine, and a monumental failure by any objective standard. (Snip) The Brits were so desperate to fix their crumbling health care system, they experimented with the private market and it is outperforming government-run health care without breaking a sweat. (Snip) We are implementing Obamacare when the UK has shown that government-run health care does not work and is beginning to move away from it. What is wrong with this picture?

Obama & Dems could care less about quality, costs and innovation required for great health care. Rather, nationalizing health care accomplished three long sought socialist objectives:

A. Leveling living standards. We´re all in the same forlorn hospital room now. And, its not even a semi-private room.
B. Making voters more dependent on government.

C. Providing another massive corruption tool. See last Friday´s articles on the $340 million interest free loan given to a long-time leftist friend of Obama.

Obamacare is so bad that the Democrats that voted for it made sure it didn´t apply to them. Why the Democrats aren´t aren´t being tar and feathered and run out of town for this despicable legislation destroying the greatest healthcare system in the world shows how effective the msm propaganda has been.

While an expat in Scotland, I had one child voa tje NHS method. What a nightmare - the midwives were totally incompetent.

When I had the second child, I planned on going back to the states for delivery but then I found BUPA and a private OBGYN (He cost us $400 for his 9 months of care + the hospital care in a private bed - what a difference. (It was almost like my first delivery in the US - without the Chippendale furnished labor room with the TV!)

I suspect that this is the second tier of privatized health care that the author is talking about.

It´s surprising to me that many still express disbelief at the destructive effects of obama´s policies.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

When all is written and done, it is obvious that obama´s intention is to destroy the wealth, prosperity, and opportunities for the masses, while shielding himself and his fellow ruling elites from the effects of these destructive policies.

Have you heard the news? Condoleezza Rice lacks “moral authority.” She fails to meet the standards of “exemplary citizenship” and she does not have what it takes to “inspire” graduating college seniors. That crazy thinking comes from the New Brunswick Faculty Council of Rutgers University. They voted last week to ask university leadership to cancel Rice’s invitation to be this year’s Commencement Speaker and receive an honorary degree.Yes, apparently the first African-American woman to serve as National Security Adviser and the nation’s Secretary of State doesn’t have what it takes to be honored by Rutgers.

Is the CNN series "Chicagoland" a compelling look at this town? Yes. I was given an advance look at the first four episodes of the eight-part series that premiered Thursday night. It shows the real Chicago, not some fantasy Chicago, not the sanitized postcard downtown, that theme-park-of-a-city that the Daleys pushed out to national audiences through their media contacts for years. "Chicagoland" depicts the city we know, beautiful but with warts and broken places. And throughout, there is drama and conflict, from the painful closing of public schools to the senseless gang wars. There are heroes in it and there

House of Cards, the Netflix series about a lethally unscrupulous Washington politician, is a wonderful show, but it does sometimes stretch the limits of credulity. I have no trouble believing that a Democratic congressman would push a reporter in front of a train, but the idea that anyone in the press would try to expose him for it is flat-out ridiculous. After all, Barack Obama has been pushing reporters under the bus for six years and nobody’s said a word. Ah, well. If the show gives leftist politicos nightmares about being held accountable for their actions by American journalists, they

Last spring, a 48-year-old mother of two young girls in Colorado discovered that she had colon cancer. Her surgeon and oncologist disagreed about whether she needed chemotherapy. So a friend recommended she go to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for a second opinion. Just before she booked her plane ticket, a representative from MD Anderson called, informing her that its oncologists were outside her insurance company’s network and that she should bring $10,000 for the consultation. Many Americans can relate to this. Last year, a Kaiser survey reported that almost all individuals and families with employer-sponsored health insurance have

Democrats have adopted a dismissive, almost bemused posture when it comes to the conservative fixation with the 2012 attack on the diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya, confident in the knowledge that the facts bear little resemblance to what they see as the right´s conspiracy theories. On one hand, they´re right. Countless congressional committee reports, administration probes, and journalistic investigations have cleared then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of any wrongdoing, and found there was little else the Obama administration could have done once the attacks began. "Ghazi" has become shorthand for a partisan-driven scandal. But Democrats are in denial if they think Benghazi

Lerner, the former director of exempt organizations at the IRS, is perhaps the key figure in the IRS scandal. Not only did she hold a crucial position, she was the official picked to apologize to the nation on May 10, 2013, for the IRS’s improper handling of Tea Part tax exemption applications. I’ve been in Brooklyn so long, I remember when Spike Lee lived here. When I was in Fort Greene in the late ’90s, living in the predominantly Caribbean Long Island University dorms, our basketball team landed Richie Parker, a fantastic player who came to LIU after he pled guilty to a sexual assault charge and bigger programs dropped him. Parker was explosive, the Blackbirds made the NCAA tournament for the first time in 13 years — and Lee suddenly became a regular at the gym, where he’d stay just long enough to be seen. The world is a dangerous place, where history and greed trump good intentions. Words are cheap. An earthquake hit Colorado politics on Wednesday afternoon, and the tremors are being felt in Washington, D.C. Rep. Cory Gardner, a second-term Republican from the small town of Yuma on Colorado’s eastern plains, announced (or at least it was reported that he was about to announce) his intention to seek the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Democrat Mark Udall rather than seek an essentially certain re-election. Gardner’s move puts Udall, already struggling against barely-known Republicans, in a position where the next polls will likely show him losing his seat to the quarter-century-younger Gardner.

The many jaundiced assessments of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on the fifth anniversary of its enactment were understandable, given that the sluggish recovery, now drowsing through the second half of its fifth year, is historically anemic. Still, bleak judgments about the stimulus spending miss the main point of it, which was to funnel a substantial share of its money to unionized, dues-paying, Democratic-voting government employees. Hence the stimulus succeeded. So there. This illustrates why it is so sublime to be a liberal nowadays. Viewed through the proper prism, most liberal policies succeed because they can hardly fail.

Republicans are in a stronger position than Democrats for this year’s midterm elections, benefiting from the support of self-described independents, even though the party itself is deeply divided and most Americans agree more with Democratic policy positions, the latest New York Times/CBS News poll shows. The independents in the poll — a majority of whom were white or male or under age 45 — continued to sour on President Obama’s job performance. Republicans hold their edge despite the fissures in their party over whether it is too conservative or not conservative enough, and many are discouraged about the party’s future.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. So, the IRS, far from repenting

One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey

But since definitions of an "in name only" marriage vary, such as "a marriage of convenience" or "a sexless marriage," and Maraniss failed to explain his claim, it is unclear what he was implying. Therefore, Obama´s oft-told nativity story must be searched for the full implications of Obama´s parents´ "in name only" marriage. The most dangerous parts of a flight are takeoff and landing. Rarely do incidents happen when a plane is cruising seven miles above the earth. So the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jet well into its flight Saturday morning over the South China Sea has led aviation experts to assume that whatever happened was quick and left the pilots no time to place a distress call. The Boeing 777-200ER flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing had been missing for hours when Vietnam´s Tuoi Tre news quoted Admiral Ngo Van Phat as saying he had asked boats from an island off south Vietnam to rush to the crash site.
