Hollywood´s Pious Hypocrisy
American Thinker, by Ed Lasky

Original Article

Hypocrisy is endemic in Hollywood. That is one reason Barack Obama and other Democrats feel so welcome there. Hypocrisy is a wide spectrum disorder in Hollywood. Similar to a virus, it has many types and mutates as time goes by. There are the obvious displays. However, one form of hypocrisy mostly escapes notice, and it cuts to the heart of the Democrats´ phony posturing. President Obama slammed Mitt Romney for the same thing during the campaign but, of course, is silent when it comes to celebrities.

Beyonce wore a pair of $1.5 million earrings to Obama inarg but not one leftist said she has more money than she needs. If this isn´t excess,I don´´t know what is. Then she performs in front of ruthless dictator thugs in Africa, using poverty donations to pay her with.

Hollywood´s existence relies on their audience´s "willing suspension of disbelief", a theatrical term meaning that we enjoy performances by momentarily pretending they are real.

Democratic politicians just developed this concept to a level of permanence.

The Oscars Show is but one example of a showcase for beautiful people, beautiful dresses, and handsome and distinguished men, etc.

But...the breasts (real or fake) always seem to take center stage. Some of these that are falling or bulging out, hanging over, or just ´out there´ as much as the law allows, seem comical to me. I´m thinking - Okay, we got it - you´ve got breasts - we know already. Ya don´t need to work so darned hard to make us notice them. The classiest women are those who don´t need to constantly showcase theirs and shove them down our throats - have you noticed?

In the past few weeks, militant jihadism has won two major propaganda coups. First, Al Gore, the world´s most famous critic of dirty oil, sold his "progressive network" Current Media, LLC, to the oil sheikhs of Qatar for a reported $500 million. Second, Naomi Wolf, renowned author of Vagina: A New Biography and other top feminist works, sold her soul to the same Islamist patriarchy. The price of Naomi´s soul (possibly including other appendages) has not yet been named. As one wag put it, Naomi will now be the official "on-air Jihadess" of the biggest Islamist propaganda network on the planet.

Growing up as the youngest of the Baer family clan, I knew what to expect in becoming a Baer: a Roman nose, sharp wits, esoteric interests, and, if the genetic dice rolled badly, my grandfather’s terrifying bipolar disorder. I also knew what it was to become a Lair, my mother’s family: patience, craftiness, good hair and bad teeth. Growing up in the Baer Lair (as our mailbox announced) and inheriting an equal, random mix of genes from both sets of parental chromosomes, I had a pretty good idea of what to prepare for.

Creeping totalitarianism is silently supplanting normal human thoughts and beliefs with an omnipresent and soul-destroying moral pathology. Although many wish to find another name for totalitarianism -- something that suggests that it has a purpose beyond power -- that is a mistake. "Socialism" for example, is a dull, empty word. Orwell´s horrific 1984 described a state based upon "Ingsoc" -- English Socialism -- but the Inner Party did not believe in redistributing wealth or helping the poor.

Ann Coulter, in a recent Kudlow Report, enraged the punditry by suggesting that the mainstream media was a threat to democracy. "I mean, you really wonder if Democrats would win any elections if we had an honest media in this country," Coulter said. "As Pat Caddell says, the media is becoming a threat to democracy." In the runup to the last presidential election, Pat Caddell, a Democratic pollster and staunch liberal, said, "I think we´re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays

Proclaiming himself a conciliator and a moderate with a vision of Americans "stand[ing] with each other" and "paying their fair share," President Barack Obama is in fact one of the most partisan presidents ever to occupy the White House. Fine-sounding words notwithstanding, he is a leftist ideologue and no-holds-barred political fighter whose practice has consistently been to demonize the American equivalents of the hated kulaks (farmers) and petit-bourgeoisie (small business owners) persecuted in the Soviet Union.

The Republicans may as well stop their soul-searching and look at the reality of the Democrat electorate. In addition to those Republican voters who stayed home on Election Day, the hard-core (so-called) progressives, the inadequate Republican ground game, and those who pay little or no federal tax and are happy to elect those who promise to take larger sums from those who DO pay, there´s a more profound and possibly intractable problem.

Just prior to the 2008 elections, Barack Obama boldly stated, "We are 5 days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America" (October 30, 2008) Many among my conservative friends took that to be so much fluff; pretty much liberal boilerplate consistent with his whole "Hope and Change" campaign message. Given, however, Obama´s background, cutting his teeth with the radical leftists/communists of his day (i.e., Frank Marshall Davis, Bernadine Dorn, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright) I chose to take him at his word.

Friendly fire killed Border

Investigators are preparing to announce that the death of Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Ivie in Arizona earlier this week was the result of friendly fire -- accidental gunfire from another agent who responded to the same scene, state and federal officials told NBC News on Friday. The conclusion is based on an analysis of the ballistics, the lack of evidence of other criminals in the area at the time, and other factors, the sources said. The FBI released a statement later on Friday confirming that preliminary evidence showed friendly fire was to blame in the shootings.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was looking to strengthen ties with Russia as he tries to put an end to the dictatorial regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, but instead he was met with the coldest of receptions. Russian President Vladimir Putin kept Kerry waiting three hours before their meeting at the Kremlin on Tuesday and continuously fiddled with his pen as the top American diplomat spoke about the ongoing crisis in Syria. Kerry’s visit to Moscow comes as he seeks Russian help in ending Syria´s civil, telling President Putin that common interest in a stable Middle East

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

The White House on Wednesday stood by its story that the Obama administration remained unsure exactly who was responsible for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi nearly five days after it occurred even though new revelations show Ansar al-Sharia’s direct involvement. Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya and a self-described whistleblower, testified before a Congressional committee Wednesday that the body of Ambassador J. Christpher Stevens was missing for hours during the attack after being dragged out of the diplomatic post in Benghazi.

Former Gov. Mark Sanford completed the trail to political redemption Tuesday with a win over Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch to reclaim his old seat in Congress. Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. Turnout was heavier than expected, with about 32 percent of the district’s 455,702 registered voters casting ballots. Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. It’s a remarkable comeback for a man many pundits had written off after his highly publicized affair with an Argentine

CUMMINGS: And, as I listen to your testimony I could not help but think of something that I said very recently -- two years ago now -- in a eulogy for a relative. I said that death is a part of life, so often we have to find a way to make life a part of death. And, I guess the reason why I´m saying that, going back to something Mr. Nordstrom said, he wanted,

There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. Bush years -- led by that least-credible of champions, the almost-always-wrong Darrell Issa --

British physicist Stephen Hawking has dropped plans to attend a major international conference in Israel in June, citing his belief that he should respect a Palestinian call to boycott contacts with Israeli academics. The University of Cambridge released a statement Wednesday indicating that Hawking had told the Israelis last week that he would not be attending "based on advice from Palestinian academics that he should respect the boycott." University officials said they had "previously understood" that Hawking´s decision was based solely on health concerns — he is 71 and has severe disabilities — but had now been told otherwise by Hawking´s office.

“We´ve had a tough go of it this last year,” Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey said Tuesday morning. “The facts are indisputable regarding the impact certain things have had on ad dollars." Dickey told analysts on the earnings call that his radio empire’s revenue was down $5.6 million in the first quarter of 2013 on top of a boatload of debt. Why? Parse the weasel words (“the impact of certain things”) and you’ll see that Dickey is blaming one man for the precipitous decline of right-wing talk radio’s profitability: Rush Limbaugh. Ahead of the Benghazi hearings in which three witnesses are set to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade invited Fox News analyst Lt. Fans of Glenn Beck are complaining about what I wrote yesterday about his speech at the National Rifle Association convention, where he used a giant image of Michael Bloomberg photoshopped into what appeared to be an image of Hitler with his arm raised in a Nazi salute and wearing an armband. The Beck crowd now tells me that it wasn’t Hitler’s picture into which the New York mayor was transposed but that of Communist leader Vladimir Lenin. They say that means I owe Beck an apology along with the Anti-Defamation League and others who were also outraged by it.

John McCain is going to release a bill that would dismantle cable as it´s currently constructed, Brenden Sasso at The Hill reports. The legislation would force cable companies and satellite TV providers to give consumers an option to pick and choose which channels they get. This is called "à la carte programming," and it´s long been a dream of consumers who only want a handful of channels. McCain tried to introduce similar legislation in 2006 and it went nowhere.
