20 Of The Most Embarrassing
Moments In The History Of
The Democrat Party

Townhall, by John Hawkins

For example, one will virtually never hear that the Palmer Raids, Prohibition, or American eugenics were thoroughly progressive phenomena. These are sins America itself must atone for. Meanwhile, real or alleged “conservative” misdeeds — say McCarthyism — are always the exclusive fault of conservatives and a sign of the policies they would repeat if given power. The only culpable mistake that liberals make is failing to fight “hard enough” for their principles. Liberals are never responsible for historic misdeeds because they feel no compulsion to defend the inherent goodness of

The Japanese Interment camps are important to be aware of with this current group. Over 100,000 imprisoned with no trial, no due process, no evidence of wrongdoing. Most were citizens. It´s hardly ever mentioned. I´ll bet you won´t find it in most high school history books.

They forgot Jim Crow Laws, passed by Democrats (Woodrow Wilson), Democrat filibusters of Civil Rights legislation (Al Gore, Sr.), etc. The list could go own and own and own, but I guess bandwidth was limited...

Obamacare should be #1 on the list. It has imprisoned all of us to a life of misery and despair. We just don`t know it yet.

I think 25 or 30 of the 20 most embarrassing moments in the history of the Democrat have occurred since 2007, when Obama came to town with his clown car, and Joe Biteme, Nancy Piglosi, and Dirty Harry Reid in his entourage.

This should be a daily Must Read. With an increasing count clock - kind of like the national debt - to track the ever increasing treachery of democrats.

When faced with these facts, the Libs have a hard time responding with their usual fallacious responses, so they fall back on the greatest fallacy of all: The hypothetical. Ex: "Well, if Abe Lincoln were alive today, he would be a Democrat."

Reply 16 - Posted by: xdemo, 2/24/2013 12:42:43 AM     (No. 9193030)

The article is shallow and poorly researched. It certainly bad-mouths the white Southern victims of Reconstruction.

Hawkins´s ridiculous allegations of 300 blacks "murdered" in Opelousas, Louisiana at the hands of the citizens of the city is sheer fantasy. There WAS a race riot in 1868; it was started by the blacks, and the whites won.

The matter was thoroughly investigated. At the most, there were 25 - 50 deaths, not "300 murders" by the stretch of any imagination but that of a flaming liberal.

Hawkins makes conservatives in general and himself in particular look stupid when he posts such factually incorrect garbage.

Reply 17 - Posted by: marthaville, 2/24/2013 2:25:55 AM     (No. 9193054)

Poor article demonstrating poor research or lack of knowledge about history. The Civil War item was unbelievably stupid. How can any of the remaining items be any more factually correct?

I have never understood why Hawkins is carried by Townhall.

I think more should be said about their support for eugenics and Margaret Sanger´s view on it as well as her views on "undesirables" and how it all ties to Planned Parenthood. Also, more about the negative effects of LBJ´s "Great Society" & "War on Poverty", not to mention his quote about keeping (blacks) voting Democrat now for 50 years.

But most important, it should be mentioned that the Dems blocked the GOP 33 times over 100 years from passing civil rights legislation. They only relented when they saw the tide of public opinion turning.

#15 After seeing the movie Lincoln, I would have to agree with them on that one. As I watched that movie, I saw why Obama keeps comparing himself to Lincoln. The both used similar tactics - blatantly violating the constitution and taking dictatorial actions while claiming it is the oppositions job to stop them.

Oh really #16 and #17? Did George Wallace not say "Segregation now, segregation forever"? Was he a Democrat? Did Orville Faubus deny integration a recently passed federal law, at Little Rock High School? Was Faubus a Democrat? Was Robert Byrd a "grand kleagle" of the KKK. Byrd was a Democrat. Did the Democrats author the Jim Crow laws? Were the southern Democrats the party of slavery? Really now #16, and #17? I can go on, but won´t at this time.

Woodrow Wilson´s demonization of German-Americans prior to and during WW I might fit somewhere on the list, too. And which party was responsible for the banning of the German language in some areas during that time?

Aside from the impeachment itself, lets not forget that Bill Clinton used his position as commander-in-chief to delay that vote by bombing Iraq in what was nothing more than an infantile temper tantrum and veiled threat that he would use this power to keep from being removed.

While Hawkins piece is certainly a very interesting piece, a real book worm could go much beyond the 20 items. Especially today. Let´s see - Fast and Furious, Benghazi, sequester, the launching of Obie´s cyber-warriors and secret police under his 501 c (3) organization (read the Canadian Free Press piece that was posted two weeks ago right here on L.Com), to name a few, all under Obie´s watch.

#21...Embarrassing, as well as a tragic moment...President Landslide Lyndon Baines Johnson announces the advent of the coming bankruptcy of The United States of America, "The Great Society," May 22, 1964, during University of Michigan commencement exercises.

Reply 34 - Posted by: spahrkl, 2/24/2013 9:36:59 AM     (No. 9193360)

woodrow wilson, Democrat, separated the troups, blacks from whites, he also told blacks not to bother with further education because he thought they couldn´t cut it and also, who would hire them.

Democrats are so closed minded. Logic and deductive thinking does not exist for them.

The most recent example is Biden telling his wife on TV to use a shotgun, fire two shots in the air and scare a would be intruder. Really! A shot gun? He advised her to break the law as it is illegal to shoot a gun in such a manner and if done so is considered a felony. But then again, if a Democrat does it, it is alright. Only Republicans/conservatives are held accountable to the law.

History and reason do not affect liberals since they are intellectually corrupt and bought off by a corrupt majority in Congress and the Executive Branch. Soon the Supreme Court will fall. Face it, conservatives have lost the war.

A couple of glaring omissions from the list: The Race Riot in Chicago in 1919 (scores of Blacks were killed) It was a Political (Democrats) Decision to Racially Segregate the City to ´keep the Peace´.
Then the Black Wall Street Riot in Tulsa, Ok. on June 1,1921. It was fomented by the KKK (a part of the Democrat Political Machine.) This was responsible for the killing of some 3,000 Blacks.

#27 - My post (#16) referred to Hawkins´s complete fabrication of the Opelousas race riot of 1868 and had nothing to do whatsoever with George Wallace or the Southern Democrats of the 50´s and 60´s, most of whom are now Republicans and none of whom are flaming left-wing modern-day Democraps.

I´m sick of ignorant d******bags like Hawkins (and the bleating sheep who parrot his half-baked, poorly researched, HuffPo-worthy pseudo-journalism) who spew tired old Yankee fables about the Deep South and Reconstruction.

Read a couple of books other than the history books they taught you in public schools. Reconstruction is one of the reasons that race relations in the United States are as bad as they are today. And Reconstruction was the crowning achievement of the despicable Radical Republicans of the day.

On Alger Hiss--note: it´s the Venona Project, not the Verona Project. See Allen Weinstein and Alexander Vassiliev´s The Haunted Wood: Soviet Espionage in America--the Stalin Era. And, yes, the Rosenbergs were guilty. And, yes, FDR´s government was riddled with foreign agents, mostly crusading sympathizers who did not work for pay. This book should be required reading for liberals.

Robert Novak: a truly reprehensible American.

I´m glad that Hawkins brings up Robert Novak and recounts another time that Novak knew the truth and kept it secret for the sake of some journalistic righteousness.

Novak could have ended that entire Valerie Plame investigation with one phone call! And, yet again, he chose not to do it.

This country would be a better place if Robert Novak had had more integrity than sanctimony.

Not bad, but it needs work.

I´d add Nancy Pelosi´s "You have to pass it to see what´s in it", that´s pretty much one for the ages.

Now, the thing is it also invites a 20 worst for the Republican party - which would include a lot of Nixon´s acting like a RINO.

They are not at all embarrassed or ashamed about what they have done these past 4 years. Highlighting the lised events, starting in 1800s, to a democrat will not bother them a bit. In fact, it will only cement in their minds that Republicans live in the past.

Reply 48 - Posted by: Zumkopf, 2/24/2013 11:53:38 AM     (No. 9193587)

Bush lied, people died. Full stop, end of story, la la la I can´t hear you.

Re the list, here is what Obama and his acolytes would make of it, assuming they bothered to address it (If a Democrat lies in the forest, and the MSM doesn´t report it, was an untruth told?)

1) Trail of Tears -- who cares, Jackson´s on the 20, when we´re talking Benjamins we´ll talk.

2) Civil War -- You mean Lincoln´s War? That was history, man. Get over it.

3) Formation of the KKK -- Wasn´t that Strom Thurmond´s outfit? And wasn´t he a Republican? [Yes, I know when he was a segregationist he was a Democrat, I´m just saying what they would say.]

4) Opelousas Massacre: Louisiana is Bobby Jindal´s state -- another Republican white boy.

5) APL/Palmer Raids -- Woodrow who? The only Palmer I know is Palmer Square, where all those Republicans who own Princeton hang out.

6) Filibuster anti-lynching law: That was in the ´20s, man. Coolidge and Hoover were behind that filibuster. You know that.

7) Tuskeegee Syphilis Experiment: You mean the Tuskeegee Airmen got syphilis given them from those Republican doctors? The ones who invented AIDS and gave that to Blacks later? Damn, you fight for your country, and they still poison you.

8) Japanese Internment Camps: FDR was right. We let them out of the camps, first thing they did was build Hondas and Toyotas and steal American jobs.

9) Alger Hiss? Railroaded, man. [Seriously, do you think Hiss´ guilt was proven to the extent a Democrat couldn´t deny it? They can deny ANYTHING, FOREVER.]

10) JFK rigged West Virginia Primary: By any means necessary, dude. JFK was a saint. [Don´t count on a Democrat to show shame. They have none.]

Reply 49 - Posted by: Zumkopf, 2/24/2013 11:54:43 AM     (No. 9193589)

11) Bay of Pigs: We should never have attacked Cuba. Anyway it was Eisenhower´s fault, JFK couldn´t stop it. And that´s why we have Rubio and Cruz today.

12) Bull Connor: A Republican pretending to be a Democrat. Next!

13) Wallace in the schoolhouse door: See #12. Everyone knows Eisenhower sent the National Guard to keep those black kids from going to white schools.

14) Escalation in Vietnam: Vietnam was Nixon´s war, man. And if you want to talk ancient history, Eisenhower started it.

15) Chappaquiddick: What a guy does in the privacy of his own bedroom - or the backseat of his own car - is his own business. And Teddy said he was sorry. And it´s not like it had anything to do with who he was or the great things he did for America. Give me a minute, I´ll think of some.

16. South Vietnam falls: Vietnam was Nixon´s war. Dems ended it, just like we´re ending Iraq and Afghanistan.

17. Iran Hostage Crisis: That was a plot between the Ayatollah and the Republicans to get Reagan into power. Ya think it was a coincidence that the minute Reagan takes the oath of office, the hostages were released? I bet you believe in the tooth fairy too. Oh, wait, Repubs don´t, because the tooth fairy gives money away.

18. Clinton turns down Bin Laden: Hey, the only thing you need to know about Bin Laden was that Bush let him take down the World Trade Center, and that Obama killed him with his bare hands. Don´t try to distract me with Clinton.

19. Impeachment: It was all about sex, period.

20. Credit downgrade: Would never have happened if the Republicans hadn´t started two wars and put them on the national credit card. Don´t blame Barry (TM).

Add this to the list of most brutal, vicious Democrat atrocities:

Subject: Bill Clinton´s Real Legacy
Bill and Hillary Clinton should be in prison for crimes against humanity for what they did to their fellow citizens at Waco, TX, on April 19, 1993. The Waco Massacre and church burning (it was not a “compound,” it was their church),was the most brutal, heinous violation of civil, human and Constitutional rights in this nation´s history. Innocent men, women and children were attacked with tanks, poison gas (CS gas turns to cyanide when heated) and burned alive. Those who ran from the church were machine-gunned as documented in the movie "Waco, The Rules of Engagement." If you doubt how bad this was consider that you never hear the left stream media talk about it. They want it erased from history but this memorial site will remain forever:
www . wizardsofaz . com/waco/waco2 . html
And if that weren´t bad enough, Clinton´s thugs then stuck a machine gun in the face of a 5 year old boy and sent him to the communist gulag known as Cuba: www . therealcuba . com/elian_gonzalez . htm
Let´s hope Clinton isn´t teaching President Prompter too many of his old tricks!
Here is a list of the children murdered at Waco:
Lisa Martin 13, Sheila Martin, Jr. 15, Rachel Sylvia 12, Hollywood Sylvia 1,
Joseph Martinez 8, Abigail Martinez 11, Crystal Martinez 3 Isaiah Martinez 4
Audrey Martinez 13, Melissa Morrison 6, Chanel Andrade 1, Cyrus Koresh 8
Star Koresh 6, Bobbie Lane Koresh 2, Dayland Gent 3, Page Gent 1,
Mayanah Schneider 2, Startle Summers 1, Serenity Jones 4, Chica Jones 2,

Here´s more embarrassing moments from Slo Joe Bite-Me:
Describing Obama as: “you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that´s a storybook, man."
or this gem:
"You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin´ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.... I´m not joking."
And who could forget his brilliant analysis of why schools in Iowa perform better than schools in Washington DC:
"There´s less than 1 percent of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is probably less than 4 or 5 percent that are minorities. What is in Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you´re dealing with"
Yeah, there´s a Black History Month classic for ya, but sadly this is news that the knee-pad media seems to lose!

No 1. Lincoln was the original usurper of the Constitution and if you remember he was not adverse to killing 700,000 Americans, both North and South, to end the right to seccession and states rights. During his usurping he also imprisoned Northern polititians and newspaper men for daring to have an opinion against his policies. That would be the original first amendment usurption. Sad somehow that Lincoln is revered as the Father of the modern Republican party. Lincoln day banquets will be springing up all over nationally. This is embarrassing as well don´t you think?

The Trail of Tears given to us by Andrew Jackson was particularly rough. It means there are no Injuns in Georgia, no reservations, and therefore no casinos and I have to go to North Carolina to throw my money down a rathole. Missing from this list is Woodrow Wilson being elected to a second term on the slogan "He Kept Us Out of the War" and then getting us into WWI where 115,000 Americans soldiers were killed and the government in Russia being overthrown and we got the Commies for around a century.

John Hawkins stupid, ignorant, blind abuse of the socialist/democrat cover-up word, “liberal”, that he mis-uses incorrectly THREE times in his first paragraph, requires this statement: In 1944, Norman Thomas, six time Socialist Party candidate for President said, "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism", they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation without knowing how it happened. I no longer need to run as a Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform." That was SEVENTY years ago! John also mis-uses another socialist cover-up word, “progressive”. The good news, he’s no more sloppy in his writings than socialists who cleverly use these lovely words, and all non commie good guys in Breitbart, PJ, Glenn, Rush, Mark, Stossell, Fox News, the good guys on our side who also use the word liberal when actually meaning destructive socialist. Hawkins’ loose list also misses Waco (thanks to brilliant #53), forgets Chappaquiddick thanks #15, omits Carter giving away the Panama Canal, Dems inventing KKK, etc, etc. Even our own darling heroine, Lucianne, uses "lib" the politically correct way in her headline. John Hawkins using these nice words the politically correct, deceptive way FOUR times in his one lead paragraph, should be fired off the job.

I accept the overall point made at the beginning about the double standard on liberal vs conservative misdeeds but the example of McCarthyism is a poor one. McCarthy has been proven correct by the venona intercepts in everything he said but more importantly on the charge of engaging in a "witch hunt" there really should be a different standard set for holding a sensitive position in the government. It would be legitimate to demand that the government shoulder the burden of proof when it is a matter of proving a crime or putting someone in jail but the accused individual should have the burden of proof of loyalty to the nation when their priviledge of holding a sensitive job or position of trust is at stake. It should be possible to remove them with a well founded suspicion which they cannot explain adequately. If McCarthy had won we would be in a lot less trouble today!

These are people I would never call American.

For example: How embarrassed was John Edwards when found cheating on his cancer stricken wife, having a love child, and paying his mistress hush money from campaign donors?

Poster #5 you are sooo right. I don´t know what I´m going to do? I can´t afford health insurance, so I guess I´ll pay the penalty. But then again it won´t matter, there won´t be any doctors. Basically, Zippy wants to kill me off before I can spend my retirement account so he can confiscate it through taxation. Killing off retired people helps the Democrats since we are more conservative and we vote.

No, Zippy will not take your retirement account via taxation. He plans, according to meetings going on at Treasury, etc., to take OVER your accounts - subsuming them into Treasury, Social Security, etc. Taxation alone would be a blessing.

BTW: a Reagan quote. "It isn´t that our liberal friends are ignorant, it´s just that there is so much they know that isn´t true".

For one example, Vietnam was not Nixon´s war. JFK entered the US into Vietnam with advisors in 1965. Nixon ended the war not democrats. What exactly did Eisenhower do to make N. Vietnam invade S. Vietnam?

I have an old friend named Don who graduated from college twenty years ago. He has tried every get rich scheme in an effort to retire early and enjoy the good life. Now that he´s in his forties and has nothing to show for it, he´s decided to take the biggest shortcut in life: he´s joined the Democratic Party. Don started smoking pot every day in college. Unlike most pot smokers he never grew out of it. So he suffered the side effects of pot including laziness and inattention to personal hygiene.

The other day I was on a radio show being interviewed about my new Sandy Hook Massacre book when the conversation turned to gay marriage. I’m sitting there thinking, “Huh?” … “I didn’t sign up to talk about gay marriage” … “Good Lord, man, I’d rather watch Yoko Ono do an interpretive dance to “Riders on the Storm” then yap about two big lesbians wanting to get hitched.” Anyway, I caved in and decided to follow the host’s lead and give him my redneck two cents on gay marriage; and here’s what I told him: Number One. Before I directly address the gay marriage issue, allow me to state that

Last week on Hannity a “Democratic Strategist” named Zerlina Maxwell told Sean and his audience that guns are not the proper deterrent to dissuade rapists, but rather “teaching men not to rape is the key”. When I heard that chunk of stupidity I blew apple juice out of my nostrils -- and I haven’t had any apple juice in the last eight years. That’s what you call “strategy”, Zerlina? Man, I hope she advises the Dems in the upcoming midterms and in 2016, because she’s denser than a chunk of Turkish walnut.

This past week an episode of Sesame Street set off a firestorm of debate over whether a boy muppet named Telly should be ashamed that his muppet friends caught him playing with dolls. In one corner "traditionalists" who called out the episode as gender and sex confused. In the other "modern feminists" who were offended by almost everything the traditionalists said and believe. In light of these op-eds and arguments I decided to do a bit of personal surveying for myself. I popped the question to my bride and her best friend as the two couples were headed to Gramercy (in Manhattan) for dinner

After focusing on 20 Of The Most Embarrassing Moments In The History Of The Democrat Party last week, it seems appropriate to point out some of the greatest moments of the Republican Party. 1) Emancipation Proclamation (1863): The first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln, issued an order freeing all slaves in the confederacy. 2) End of the Civil War (1865): Abe Lincoln guides the north to victory in the Civil War and reunites the nation. 3) Women's right to vote (1872): Republicans Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton write the text of the 19th Amendment, which is introduced by Republican Senator Aaron A. Sargent of California. The Amendment was finally ratified in 1920. 4) Victory in the Spanish American War (1898): Republican William McKinley achieves victory in the Spanish American War and forces Spain to give up its claim on Cuba.

The Left routinely ascribes absolute moral authority to grieving victims in furtherance of their political agenda. Their agitprop is often manipulative and exploitive, but it works. Appeals to facts and reason aren´t enough anymore; persuading the public increasingly requires emotional appeals. Even if they find it inherently unpalatable, conservatives must promote people whose personal stories offer counter-narratives to liberals´ tragic parade of victimhood. Katie highlighted one such case earlier this week, and now The Blaze has another.

Last Thursday Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and other U.S. military leaders lifted the ban on women serving in combat positions. I, for one, think this is a great idea and have a few modest proposals, if the brass inside the beltway is open to suggestions, on how they should deploy the dames (and whom they should deploy). First off, if you truly want to eviscerate the enemy—namely Muslims—then I propose sending the most nerve grating and foul women Hollywood has to offer straight into hot zones as our forward armies.

I’m getting sick and tired of the Obama administration using children selectively in order to help the president advocate his public policy positions. As I sat and watched his recent press conference, I finally understood his opposition to the Iraq War. It seems he and the late President Hussein are kindred spirits who share more than just a name. They share a sick penchant for using children as human shields in the middle of war. And make no mistake about it; America is currently at war with itself on many different fronts.

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
