GOP: Obama´s sequester goal is
really quite simple: Higher taxes

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Original Article

Hi, I’m Senator John Hoeven of North Dakota. I’d like to talk to you today about the pending sequester and the need to address our debt and deficit, while creating jobs and economic growth at this critical time in our history. For the better part of the week, President Obama has been traveling and giving interviews on the consequences of the sequester, which is an across-the-board cut in federal discretionary spending. He blames Congress for the sequester, but [Snip] it was President Obama who proposed—and promoted—the sequester.

It was always designed to be set-up as "well, the GOP will fight for the defense, and cave on new taxes to support it" scheme.

GOP should simply report, "the president is getting what he asked for. Why are we supposed to be bargaining for something he demanded?"

Oh, it was just a ploy, a tactic as Sen. Durbin said? You mean the president, and his Democrats weren´t being truthful in their previous negotiations?

"I guess we can´t trust any of them anymore then can we"?

The $4.19 a gal price that I paid for gas in Chicago yesterday is a form of tax on the people that is never mentioned.

We need that pipe line and we need more drilling in our own country and get out of the lap of the Arabs!!! We are making them rich while we are bleeding ourselves dry!!!

Let me be perfectly clear. Higher taxes for everyone except my rich friends and welfare subjects. Tax the middle class more since they are too dumb to realize it. Just, handle it and get out of my way, I have a golf game scheduled. Oh, and plan my vacations for March.

Even democrats (the ones who work and EARN money) will get tired of paying more taxes.

Democrat Robin Kelly wins special Illinois
House election, but what about prison?

Despite the endorsement of President Obama, Robin Kelly easily won election Tuesday night in a special House election to represent Illinois´ troubled Second Congressional District. The sprawling urban-suburban district, containing Chicago´s ugly South Side, was formerly represented by Jesse Jackson Jr., who like a number of Illinois politicians will be residing in a federal penitentiary for a while. In fact, the last three incumbents of the Second District´s seat have moved on to prison cells, as have some recent governors. But that’s probably coincidence.

President Obama was on again Monday about gun laws, not enforcing the existing ones. But getting some new ones, any new ones so he can claim some kind of political victory after all of the promises and vows he made in the emotional days last December. But Obama wasn´t working on the senators from his own party who will actually determine the fate of these measures. That would be political leadership. No, Obama was out of town again, up in Hartford for a photo op with Connecticut legislators and some Newtown families.

It´s a good thing this column is available online, so that residents of Memphis, New Orleans and Riverside, California can learn how unsafe their city is without having to venture outside. Those are the bottom three metropolitan areas where residents said they felt least safe walking alone at night in their neighborhood. From the safety of their little work cubicles somewhere, the number gnomes over at the Gallup organization have been accumulating data on perceived human well-being as part of their polling calls on many subjects. From that data comes the 50 most and least safe cities.

From up here, 240 miles above Broadway, New York City can look like a pretty nice place. No traffic. No garbage. No smells. No crime. And no nanny Napoleons issuing edicts over spices, soft drinks and cups. This post-midnight photo was taken the other day by the crew of the International Space Station zipping overhead and around the world every 90 minutes at 17,000 miles an hour.

Hi I’m Kansas Governor Sam Brownback. A week ago nearly a third of the world’s population celebrated Easter, the resurrection of Jesus. New life. Well, we need new life in our nation and economy. Washington is broke. Big spending programs are running out of money and change is coming. The ideas on how to fix the federal government are now percolating in the states, 30 of which are led by Republican governors. You see, you don’t change America by changing Washington. With video.

Hi, everybody. Our top priority as a nation, and my top priority as President, must be doing everything we can to reignite the engine of America’s growth: a rising, thriving middle class. That’s our North Star. That must drive every decision we make. Now, yesterday, we learned that our businesses created 95,000 new jobs last month. That’s about 500,000 new jobs this year, and nearly 6.5 million new jobs over the past three years. But we’ve got more work to do.

In a swift and strange reversal, Obama administration officials Thursday rushed to play down their own recent announcements of defensive U.S. military movements in response to threats and provocations from North Korea. The hereditary Communist dictatorship of the Kim family that took over the North after World War II has always been quirky, unpredictable and, well, mentally unbalanced by any modern governing standards. The country would be cinematically comical and worthy of a Peter Sellers role were the rogue regime not actively developing nuclear weapons and long-distance missiles to deliver or orbit them.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz has called for the complete legislative repeal of ObamaCare and its replacement by comprehensive healthcare reforms that actually increase patient choice, decrease the role of government bureaucrats and disconnect health insurance from employment. "If you lose your job," Cruz said, "you don´t lose your house, life or car insurance. They go with you wherever you go." It should be the same for health insurance. In a wide-ranging exclusive interview with IBD´s weekly M&M podcast, the Texas freshman said, "Our first priority is repealing ObamaCare and repealing it in its entirety.”

Remember how since-demoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said we´d have to pass the massive ObamaCare health law to find out what´s in it? Well, now three years later that´s happening and a lot of people are not liking what they see. Remember how ObamaCare was going to save you money? Not going to happen. Premiums are going up, some by as much as 100%. And a new study by the nonpartisan Society of Actuaries finds that on average insurers will have to pay 32% more for claims under ObamaCare.

Hello, I’m Congressman Lee Terry from the state of Nebraska’s Second District. Republicans in Congress are focused on creating jobs and improving the cost of living in America. We’ve held the line against tax increases and passed a balanced budget, and forced the Democratic-run Senate to approve its first budget in four years. The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

The state of California is reportedly considering legislation that would force group insurance policies to provide infertility treatment for gay and lesbian couples. Two men who have sex with each other for a year and do not produce a baby would be considered “infertile” under the proposed legislation. So would two women having sex. Since biology does not allow those without a uterus to conceive or those without a penis to impregnate, every year-long gay couple in California would potentially be covered by this new provision of California law.
