Shutting Down Government For
Sequester May Backfire On Obama

Investor´s Business Daily, by Ford O´connell

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 2/22/2013 6:57:47 PM

Obama´s Hyperbolic Sequester Pla First responders arrayed behind him at a press conference. Teachers furloughed from the classroom. Air-traffic controllers furloughed from the control towers. Everything but pay for the troops at risk in the armed forces. President Obama wants us to taste austerity. He wants us to see what it would be like if our representatives in Congress — and this is all Congress´ fault, in his version of events — fail to get back to Washington and avoid the sequester scheduled to take place on March 1. Can we live with fewer firemen and teachers and more

Headline is delusional. What, in 50 months as president has backfired on the Prince of Darkness? Everything he has done as president has failed, and there is nothing in his current radical agenda that will be of benefit to our country. Yet the writer thinks that somehow, someway, Obams will be harmed by a 2 cents on a dollar reduction in spending.

Obama is lying about sequester impact because he already knows nothing will happen. Which means he will be hailed as the protector of seniors, the young, illegals, the handicapped, miners, union members and the LGBT coalition.

They had to close down a couple of firehouses in our area because the voters did not approve a tax increase. We were told it would be a disaster and the town would burn down and people would die. Since then, every time there´s a fire, there´s been a big article about it in the newspaper and a story on the local station, and every single time they bring up the "reduced" services because the voters refused to approve a tax increase. It´s gotten to the point that my husband and I wait for it and then applaud when we hear or see it. Yes, we did vote against it, and not one house has burned down or one person been hurt since then. The fire department was forced to become more efficient. I suspect that if the sequester cuts are made what may become obvious is the fact that we can get by with less. Of course, every night the MSM will go out of their way to find any inconvenience or sob story related to the sequester, and blatantly lie to blame it on Republicans.

Actually, a govern, ent shutdown would be great. We´d save a ton of money, and the public would see how little value much of the bureaucracy of government gives us. Some people will lose jobs. I guess then the DC crowd would taste what we have to eat.

Hope it causes a LOT of major problems, and since they were caused by Obama, I hope that folks will FINALLY take some action. Looking forward.

The problem is that this country is FULL of un-Americans; people who are either not American citizens, or people who don´t believe in America the way it was founded. People who see America as a goose that lays golden eggs, and they want their eggs NOW.

RUSH: The media is not happy that Obama is underwater on the polling data on all these issues: Immigration, gun control, whatever else. He´s under 50%, and the media is worried about this. They´re not accustomed to Obama being underwater. They´re accustomed to Obama, no matter what´s happening in the country, being at 55%. They´re accustomed to whatever´s happening in the country not attaching itself to Obama. Now it looks like some of it might be attaching itself to Obama, and they´re a little bit concerned about it, and it may even be that Obama´s concerned about it.

The guys at CBS News have a sense of humor. The Web headline on their story about President Obama´s antigun speech yesterday in Hartford, Conn., reads: "Obama on Gun Debate: ´This Isn´t About Me.´ " That reminded someone on Twitter of the same network´s headline from July 20, 2009: "Obama on Health Care: ´This Isn´t About Me.´ " Try to imagine how soul-ravishingly tedious an Obama speech would be if it were about him. We dare you. Obama´s speech, at once demagogic and pathetic, reminded us of Mayor Michael Nutter´s efforts to censor a different kind of magazine,

WASHINGTON — Several Senate Republicans on Tuesday came out publicly against filibustering the first major gun control legislation since 1993 before it is even brought up for debate on the Senate floor, as advocates inched toward breaking a conservative blockade of the measure. With backers of new gun safety laws increasingly optimistic that they can corral the 60 votes necessary to begin consideration of the measure, Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, said he would schedule a showdown vote for Thursday. His comments came as lobbying on gun control stepped up on Capitol Hill,

During a gun control speech today at the White House, Vice President Joe Biden mocked the “black helicopter crowd” for opposing the idea of universal background checks for Americans purchasing guns. “Kinda scary man, the black helicopter crowd is really upset,” Biden said, criticizing the National Rifle Association for promoting a “misinformation campaign” on background checks. Biden insisted that there would be no central registry for background checks allowing government to keep records on gun owners.

By whom and how that was accomplished presumably will be the subject of a criminal investigation.”

President Post-partisan is submitting a bait-and-switch budget to Congress this week: more taxes, more spending, and it´s only two months after the legal deadline. So that´s another year for the locusts. Scott Johnson at Powerline was already talking about the year the locusts ate at the end of 2009. For a bit of context, Winston Churchill gave his "Locust Years" speech in November 1936, and he was talking about the mere two years that the locusts had eaten since Hitler had come to power and started rearmament.

So maybe life in the old days wasn´t all Ozzy and Harriet, or Wally and Beaver. In their day, however, we do know that one in ten school-age children were not being diagnosed with ADHD. That also means two-thirds of those children were not being treated with stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall. Neither were 5% of 12-19 year olds taking anti-depressants. This raises the question: besides the egregious influence of pill-pushing pharmaceutical companies, what was different in American life previous to the prescription drug culture in which our children now live?

North Korea intensified threats of an imminent conflict against the United States and the South on Tuesday, warning foreigners to evacuate South Korea to avoid being dragged into a "merciless, sacred, retaliatory war". The North´s latest antagonistic message belied an atmosphere free of anxiety in the South Korean capital, where the city center was bustling with traffic and offices operated normally. Pyongyang has shown no sign of preparing its 1.2 million-strong army for war, indicating the threat could be partly intended to bolster Kim Jong-un, 30, the third in his family to lead the reclusive country.

Mrs. Thatcher’s predecessor as prime minister, the amiable but forgotten Sunny Jim Callaghan, once confided to a friend of mine that he thought Britain’s decline was irreversible and that the government’s job was to manage it as gracefully as possible. By 1979, even this modest aim seemed beyond the capabilities of the British establishment, and the nation turned to a woman who was one of the few even in a supposedly “conservative” party not to subscribe to the Callaghan thesis. She reversed the decline, at home and overseas.
