Charles Krauthammer vs. Mark Levin: Is embracing Obamacare honorable or dishonorable?

| On Thursday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott decision to expand Medicaid and establish state exchanges as called for by Obamacare can be perceived as an “honorable” endeavor. Scott, a fierce critic of Obamacare, helped lead the charge agains the health care law in the courts. “[I] think as a Republican conservative, who opposed Obamacare, taking it as a governor — I think you can act honorably either way,” Krauthammer said. “You can oppose it and have opposed it all the way

Comments: Dr. Krauthammer makes a good case for Gov. Scott in taking his position on Obamacare, but he´s missing the point that Scott is doing it for political reasons, which is important.
Mark Levin on the other hand (aside from the screeching rhetoric) is probably right -- that from a principled standpoint, especially with the states´ autonomy perspective, Gov. Scott should have not conceded any ground.
But looks like politics have prevailed.

It really does not matter much. ObamaCare has achieved it´s goal of crashing the healthcare system.
By this time next year - huge sections of the population (including the middle class) will have lost their insurance. The Working Poor will be excluded because regulations are doubleing or tripling the cost of their insurance options.
The system has been crashed. But, like a car that has blown an engine on the highway - it is going to take things a while to finally grind to a halt.

When Gov. Scott runs for reelection, who´s going to contribute going forward? He´s one more Repub who´ll never see another dime of support from me.
Dems = tell you up front what they are goo to do, but lie about the impact Repubs- lie up front about what you are going to do, do the opposite, then make excuses why they did it.

I second the second post. Krauthammer embodies the beltway mindset. Whereas Mark Levin makes his argument using the constitution. Krauthammer gently and quietly goes into the political night while I guess that Mark´s ´ screeching rhetoric ´ awakens the reality that many find distasteful.

#1 I feel the same way.
It is not too difficult to imagine a situation where healthcare professionals simply do not know how the system works- the part that handles payments and reimbursements. Perhaps services will become a pay in advance policy at the point of service (´we haven´t been reimbursed fully for six months´ sort of thing).

Levin can say what he will. He isn´t responsible for the people of any state; he is merely responsible for his ratings. Scott, on the other hand, has to make the hard decisions: what is best for the people of my state?
I respect Scott for making a hard decision. Things look very different when your opinion actually means something.

It is not honorable or dishonorable; it is just plain fiscally irresponsible. This will come back to haunt the states later, when the government changes the rules in mid stream.

And Levin isn´t screaming Levin; he is a man in love with his country who is desperately trying to save it. His research is impeccable and I don´t miss a one of his shows. He is a one man professor of the United States Constitution from whom the King of all Trolls could learn a lot. Levin´s passion might overwhelm a listener who doesn´t listen to words and reacts negatively to passionate speaking.. If that is the case, what a shame and loss.

On his radio show this week, conservative talker Mark Levin said that Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, who on Tuesday claimed that opponents of same-sex marriage do nothing but “thump the Bible,” should stop degrading his audience. “Thump the Bible?” Levin asked. “Have I thumped the Bible once in an hour and a half on the air today? … Why are you putting down your audience? I thought you stood for the folks. And you sound like [President Barack] Obama, with the ‘clinging to their guns and religion’ line. You should show respect to your audience.”

On Dennis Prager’s radio show on Monday, conservative commentator Ann Coulter offered her takeaways from last weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference held outside Washington, D.C., where Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul won the event’s presidential straw poll. Coulter, author of “Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama,” explained how that happened, which led to her critique of the libertarian movement within college campuses and its antics. “’How did that happen?’ you’re wondering,” she said. “Ron Paul used to win every year because these libertarian

In covering the selection of Pope Francis I, many in the media speculated as to whether the new head of the Roman Catholic Church would take a more liberal theological position on homosexuality and abortion. But in his regular Thursday appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Mark Steyn, author of “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon,” viewed that media speculation along with other “trivial” aspects of the coverage to be ridiculous considering the church has held those same beliefs for thousands of years now. “Well, you know, I think the papal coverage in the so-called serious media

On Rush Limbaugh’s radio show on Monday, National Review’s Mark Steyn explained why an incident involving a seven-year-old boy’s punishment and the subsequent reaction for chewing a Pop Tart in the shape of a gun is a sign the country is “doomed.” Steyn, author of “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon,” compared this generation of children, who may have felt threatened by the so-called Pop Tart gun, to the American generation that stormed the beaches of Normandy. “You’re doomed, America,” Steyn said. “You’re done for. No society can survive this level of stupidity.

The USDA addresses those fears in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp, brochures it distributes to Mexican consulates as part of its “partnership” with the Mexican government “to help educate eligible Mexican nationals living in the United States about available nutrition assistance.” In one portion of the brochure, USDA’s text asks, “If I get on SNAP benefits, will I be a “public charge?’”

Washington Post columnist and Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer on Tuesday criticized President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address as unrealistic and egocentric, arguing that the president made clear he is more concerned about his own image than the realities of governance. Specifically, Krauthammer suggested Obama’s call for legislative transparency was mere lip service that might even backfire on the Democratic Party. “One of the things that these red-state Democrats who are going to go up for re-election in the next year are scared to death about is precisely having to vote,”

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

More than six months since Ambassador Christopher Stevens was assassinated by terrorists in Benghazi, the Obama administration is still trying to keep a lid on information about the attack. Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Members of Congress have asked hundreds of questions at hearings conducted by several investigative committees, but many of the most significant have been left unanswered. Information detailing what happened before, during and Headline corrected.
