I listened to the magistrate´s monologue, and have to wonder - is it justifiable homicide in south africa to kiil a really dumb and boring magistrate?

Separate from that, though, is the astonishing remark by the magistrate that, essentially, because the accused is a celebrity, there should have been a senior police official at the scene. Think about that for a moment.
The magistrate also said the crime scene was contaminated because the police officer didn´t put those little booties over his shoes. But the purpose of those little booties is to keep the police officer´s shoes free of blood.

How do you fire shots through a locked door and think it is occupied by anyone other than the woman who was sleeping with you???????

If you´re arrested, you get out on bail. If you´re convicted, you get a four-hour sentence. If you break parole, you get another four-hour sentence.

South Africa must have been looking toward Hollywood for guidance.

Perhaps....rather than strap on his blades and get out of S.A. on the first thing smokin´, this modern social climber and fame wh@re is looking forward to becoming the next big thing. Fame and infamy have merged.

Well #3, from what I have heard, she surprised him by showing up at his at 2 or 3am. Pistorius has been the victim of numerous break ins, starting before his appearance in the Olympics. He has woken to people not only in his home, but in his bedroom. He comes from a rather wealthy family and it is common knowledge of his family´s wealth in South Africa. The last tweet his girlfriend wrote was about she was planning on surprising him. She must have known about the history of people breaking into his house, why would she think the surprising him at 3am is a good idea?

I dunno, #3. His claim of mistaken identity is simply not credible. His father made a totally weird remark about that: "I have zero doubt (that he thought it was an intruder) - it´s totally absurd to even suggest anything different ... When you wake up in the middle of the night - and crime is so endemic in South Africa - what do you do if somebody is in the house? Do you think it´s one of your family? Of course you don´t," he said.

That remark is so absurd itself -- I understand the man´s grief and shock, but I think most people would make certain it´s not a family member (or a girlfriend who was known to be in the house and who was sleeping in the same bed) before shooting through a closed bathroom door.

#7 -- that´s not true. She had been in the house all evening. The security cameras show her arriving around 6 pm. The media speculated that it might have been a Valentine´s Day surprise that went wrong, but the was not the case. He even says in his statement that he called out to her to call the police, so he knew she was there.

When a celebrity is involved, there are always some who will make excuses, no matter how absurd. For the average Joe, no such support (and no bail).
