Dot Commie: China´s Military
Behind U.S. Cyberattacks

Investor´s Business Daily, by Staff

Cyberwar: A cybersecurity firm reports a secretive Chinese military unit is behind many recent "hack attacks" into U.S. computers, stealing trade and military secrets and developing a potentially crippling new weapon. In a 2009 editorial we noted that units of China´s armed forces, whom we dubbed its "Cybertooth Tigers" were developing capabilities to penetrate and potentially disrupt U.S. computer systems as part of the People´s Liberation Army´s focus on what is known as "asymmetrical" warfare, specifically cyber-warfare. At least as far back as the 2008 edition of the Pentagon´s annual report to Congress entitled

House Republican pushing mileage tax to bolster
Transportation funds; Update: Or did he?
Hot Air, by Ed Morrissey    Original Article

Over the last few years, we’ve seen Democrats raise the idea of adding a new revenue source to supplement the gas tax, as revenues have declined from this stream due to increased fuel efficiency thanks to mandates to that effect imposed by Congress. One bad idea that never seems to die is a mileage tax, which would force Americans to track their travel — or have government do it for them. That idea got shelved along with the Democratic House majority in 2011, but now it’s crept across the aisle (via Instapundit): House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster said

President Obama has kept up with the tradition of hosting a National Prayer Breakfast by inviting guests from 130 nations and a collection of Congressmen and Senators. One of the most distinctive guests was not in politics at all, however, as professional surfer Bethany Hamilton addressed the crowd at the Washington Hilton Thursday morning. The 23-year-old, who survived a shark attack in 2003 where she lost her left arm, read two passages from the New Testament and talked about the inspiration she received to thrive in spite of her injury. The non-denominational gathering focused on the issue religious freedom and the President discussed

ObamaCare Disaster May Deliver

Although unexpected, the unraveling of the Affordable Care Act may deliver a mortal blow to liberalism. At the very least, it presents a momentous opportunity for a majority of the American people to recognize that dependence on unaccountable government bureaucracies is a loser´s wager. Since failure is often the best teacher, the ObamaCare fiasco may well catalyze a broad renaissance of appreciation for the power and virtue of self-reliance and choice that only the free market provides. The fact that ObamaCare is prompting early retirement among doctors and reduced medical school applications, while also creating 16,500 new IRS enforcement agents, reveals just how

Separation Of Powers: A new caucus believes its chief purpose is to provide the president with executive orders to sign. That´s not lawmakers´ job, but in today´s Washington, constitutional limits seem to mean little. Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of the Congressional Full Employment Caucus says "we´ll give President Obama a number of executive orders that he can sign with pride and strength. "I think that should be our number one agenda," she said. "Let´s write up these executive orders — draft them, of course — and ask the president to stand with us on full employment." Even after CNN’s Wolf Blitzer showed him some promising polls with him leading the GOP field, the former Massachusetts governor said he is going to pass on 2016. “I’m absolutely convinced that there are other people who would have a better chance of becoming the nominee, and becoming the next president of the United States better than I would have,” Romney said on CNN on Wednesday. “I’ve had my turn — I gave it two good shots, didn’t win,

The reason that I believe it would have been a giant, great pay-off if there were a massive education information campaign to instruct people on ideology -- who liberals are, what they do, how to identify them, and how you don´t want it -- is rooted in the belief that I think a vast majority would reject it. I think most people who vote for liberals do not really know what they´re doing. Now, there are some true believers. Don´t misunderstand. I know this. This is why I still have

Being arrested in Chicago for, say, drug possession or assault gets you sent to the Cook County Jail to be fingerprinted, photographed and X-rayed. You’ll also get help applying for health insurance. At least six states and counties from Maryland to Oregon’s Multnomah are getting inmates coverage under Obamacare and its expansion of Medicaid, the federal and state health-care program for the poor. The fledgling movement would shift to the federal government some of the more than $6.5 billion in annual state costs for treating prisoners. Proponents say it also will make recidivism rarer, because inmates released with coverage are more

House committees are still digging into the IRS political targeting scandal, and based on a hearing Wednesday there´s more to learn. The day produced more evidence blowing apart President Obama´s claims that there was "not even a smidgen of corruption" or political motivation in the IRS handling of groups applying for tax-exempt status. Mr. Obama wants Americans to believe that the targeting resulted from the confusing tax law governing nonprofits, which he says was "difficult" to interpret and resulted in mere "bureaucratic" mistakes. AUSTIN, Texas — The Wild West tradition of openly carrying your six-shooter on the street has long been banned in Texas under state law. But the next governor could change that. Rising Democratic star and gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis has joined her top Republican rival in supporting a proposed "open carry" law. It would allow people with concealed handgun licenses to wear a pistol on their hip, in full view, while in public. Davis has said she supports expanding gun rights in Texas. The White House and congressional Democrats tried to limit the fallout Wednesday from the politically damaging conclusion in a Congressional Budget Office report that the Obamacare entitlement creates a major incentive for some people not to work. While some critics focused on a finding by the CBO that Obamacare will result in 2.5 million fewer workers over a decade, conservatives said the bigger fundamental issue highlighted in the report is one familiar to the welfare state — that taxpayer-funded government subsidies provide disincentives for full-time work. “People used to be stuck in jobs because they needed the health insurance,” said
