Sorry Jon, if you realy think that it´s about homosexuals making a vow to live as a couple, you have been fooled.

It is about gaining benefits, and destruction of the institution - it does not end with 2 people of the same sex coupling. (See the new military rules for same sex parnters.)

Next it will be polygamy, or year old men marrying 12 year old children of either sex.

For years we were told that homosexuals were different, by homosexuals. They told us that straights were envious that they could have sex with as many partners as they wanted without the consequence of pregnancy.

If it ended with couples of the same sex walking down the aisle and staying committed than I´d be all for it. But it does not end with ´marriage equality´ it only begins.

Gay activists are trying to force their views on society. Anyone who holds on to traditional norms are called bigots. The hateful ones are the gay activists.

Is Mr. Huntsman for marriage equality for first cousins? The fact is that marriage is
scientifically about breeding. This is why

1) One would think that the almost 2 Billion Christians on the planet are a minority?
2) One would think that "marriage equality" refers to individuals who are addicted to homosexual behavior. Such individuals are already guaranteed equality under the constitution. Marriage, however, is for men and women and has been since the beginning.

The real question is why Jon Huntsman is writing for a conservative publication.

Gay marriage a conservative cause? Huntsman is a good little RINO.

In an amazing cosmic coincidence, all marriages already ARE equal whether you´re talking about the religious male-female version or the secular male-female version.

If you want to talk about the mutated version offered up by leftists NOT as a means towards equality but rather as a means of further eroding the foundations of civilized, productive society then we have a problem. Because it isn´t marriage.

The same sex marriage movement is largely a product of Western European and North American culture (dare I say decadence). The rest of world, Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, appears content with the current man-woman set up. In fact, one could argue that it is almost exclusively the left-wing half of the ´Judeo-Christians´ who are imposing their anti-hetero bigotry upon the rest of us. This assertion is supported by the fact that the hot beds of the movements are most likely located in the more liberal churches and synagogues.

You are free to have your personal definition of the word "conservative". It is a word that stands for a general concept.

However, your definition of what is conservative is as distorted as the word "liberalism" has become in the 21st century. Todays liberals bare no resemblence to the concept of liberalism that founded our country.

Granting government license to marry to a minority of abnormal persons ( ie. perverts) who think the male rectum is a sex organ is not " equality" by any stretch of the imagination there Jonny boy.
Until and unless people start calling these creeps on what they are actually advocating, civilized people will lose the battle. The left took over this argument some 30 years ago and brought us to where we are today.

It´s not "almost" 2 billion Christians, it´s 2.3 billion (1.3 billion Catholics, 750 million Protestants, 250 million Orthodox). There are about 1.4 billion Muslims, 900 million Hindus, and the rest go down from there. Regarding the point at hand, only a few churches on the far liberal side of the spectrum have abandoned Scripture on the issue of same-sex attraction. But they have a big media megaphone that lets people think they are a majority, while traditionalists are vilified and their views ignored. This article is propaganda, nothing more.
