| Which United States president will go down in history as the greatest humanitarian to have served in the office? The Republican Herbert Hoover is often known as the "Great Humanitarian" for his work administering famine relief in post-World War I Europe (and Bolshevik Russia) in the 1920s — but he did all that before he actually became president. Others might make the case for Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Democrat who succeeded Hoover in the White House, whose New Deal initiatives relieved poverty and sickness on a grand scale within the United States.

I´m embarrassed for this writer. There is no way to actually compliment GWB while casually mentioning Obama is cutting the program back. The conservatives messed it up and Bush ruined the publicity with his foreign policy. Excuse me but as this was done on the African continent, this too was part of his foreign policy.

There was an 1854 Lefaucheux pinfire pistol carbine on display, as well as an 1876 .22-caliber derringer in a glass box. But neither was for sale. It wouldn´t have mattered if they were. The gun enthusiasts who showed up in Rosemont on Friday for what was billed as the first-ever Chicagoland Gun Show didn´t seem interested in gawking at antique pistols. Some wanted to buy high-powered rifles, semi-automatic handguns and high-capacity magazines. Four shootings -- two of them double homicides -- and a stabbing left 7 people dead Saturday, authorities said. In what appeared to be the last homicide of the day, a 32-year-old man was fatally stabbed about 11:50 p.m. in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side, police said. The stabbing happened during a domestic argument in the 2500 block of East 73rd Street, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

Caterpillar Inc.’s stock was downgraded to “Neutral” from “Overweight” by JPMorgan Chase & Co. analyst Ann Duignan Monday. Duignan, who had rated Peoria-based Caterpillar “overweight” since April 2009, cited pressures on the sector to reduce costs and the potential negative impact on the U.S. coal and energy sectors following the re-election of President Barack Obama in downgrading the stock. Mining remains “pressured as companies continue to assess their investment plans for the longer term, and cuts are becoming more broad-based,” Duignan said in a research note.

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass.
