Gilded Class Warriors
Townhall, by Victor Davis Hanson

In his first term President Obama was criticized for trash-talking the one-percenters while enjoying the aristocracy of Martha´s Vineyard and the nation´s most exclusive golf courses. Obama never quite squared his accusations that "millionaires and billionaires" had not paid their fair share with his own obvious enjoyment of the perks of "corporate jet owners," "fat cat bankers" and Las Vegas junketeers. Now, that paradox has continued right off the bat in the second term. In the State of the Union, Obama once more went after "the few," and "the wealthiest and the most powerful,"

This is one of his best! Dr. Hanson so skillfully describes the utter hypocrisy of 0bama and the left.

0bama´s friends, both Facebook and GE pay NO taxes at all, in fact, Facebook after paying NO taxes will get a million dollar "refund." How does that work? Both 0bama and Michelle love the good life and sense of entitlement. Just one month after taking a 7 million dollar vacation to Hawaii, Michelle jets off to Aspen with her girls for another lavish and luxurious outing at the taxpayer´s expense. And, 0bama jets off in the other direction for a several million dollar golf outing. Just saying.

So why would the owners of the Houston Astros and of the Aspen Ski Resort host Obama and Michelle, respectively? Is it all about tax breaks to them?

If you notice, for all the demonization, most conservatives don´t worship money, live extravagantly, or waste money. Many liberals will babble on forever about the greed of the right-wing, but any chance they get, they are splurging and living high on the hog. We conservatives are said to obsess over money. Wrong, we respect the value and potential power of money, and seek to put it to its most effective uses. Libs won´t be happy till we are all stripped of our independence from Government.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The pilot of the missing Malaysia Airlines jet is believed to be solely responsible for the flight being taken hundreds of miles off course and there is no evidence of a mechanical failure or hijacking by a passenger, according to an investigator involved in the investigation. A high-ranking officer attached to a special investigative branch of the Malaysia police force in Kuala Lumpur told USA TODAY on Wednesday that investigators are pressing relatives of the pilot, Capt. Zaharie Ahmad Shah, for information on his behavior leading up to the March 8 flight. The official could not speak on

Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon was arrested Wednesday on federal public corruption laws after a four-year investigation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte announced. Cannon was charged with theft and bribery after an FBI sting operation, said Anne Tompkins, U.S. attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. FBI agents, working on a tip that Cannon, 47, was potentially involved in illegal activities, started an investigation in August 2010, Tompkins said in a statement. Cannon – elected mayor five months ago after a long political career in Charlotte – solicited and accepted cash bribes and other items of value from undercover FBI

Dem leaders: O-Care anger is media hype

Senate Democratic leaders on Wednesday said the media is exaggerating public concern about ObamaCare and insisted they aren’t worried the law will cost them their majority in November. Democratic leaders said voters care more about middle-class issues like raising the minimum wage, addressing college affordability, achieving paycheck parity between men and women and rebuilding infrastructure. They expressed their frustration with reporters after a lengthy presentation on their “Fair Shot for Everyone” agenda was followed up by a salvo of questions on the implementation of ObamaCare. “ObamaCare, if you do a poll of anyone, that’s dropped way down in significance,” Senate Majority Leader Harry

Former President Jimmy Carter is suggesting that President Obama may be reluctant to talk about issues affecting African-Americans because he himself is an African-American. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Carter likened the situation to women lawmakers who are loathe to discuss women´s issues. Carter told HuffPost Live: "Some women when they are elected become champions of human rights. I´ve seen other women who are elected who didn´t pay any attention to that particular thing because it was kind of an embarrassment to them to single out women since they were a woman -- like I think it might

On Wednesday, Obama administration officials announced a two week extension in the deadline to enroll in the Affordable Care Act or face a penalty defined as a tax. Asked about this “delay” in the implementation of the ACA on Wednesday, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) said that there has been no delay. He added that some of the users who experienced problems with the website early on need more time, partially because “people are not educated about how to use the internet.” “There’s no hiccup or delay,” Reid insisted. “We had hundreds of thousands of people who tried to sign up and

A three-page analysis from Jeff Sessions’s office. The good news is, at least ICE is prioritizing correctly. Illegals who’ve committed serious criminal offenses are the first out the door, followed by people caught at the border trying to sneak in and those caught inside the U.S. after having been deported before. The other 99.92 percent who are already here are, however, apparently here to stay, unless/until a Republican president sends down the order to restart deportations among that group. And given the GOP leadership’s icy panic about further alienating Latino voters, the odds of that are near zero. Remember this

The Web page scrubbing, which also included eliminating the Anti-Defamation League, was not announced and came in the last month after 15 family groups pressed Attorney General Eric Holder and FBI Director James Comey to stop endorsing a group -- SPLC -- that inspired a recent case of domestic terrorism at the Family Research Council.

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has said that ´a trained ape´ could do a better job managing American interests in Afghanistan than President Obama. Gawker points out that such an agreement would effectively commit the United States to having a certain number of troops in the country for a number of years beyond the already-agreed-upon plan which

A pair of potentially catastrophic cases will be argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday. These cases are brought by privately held, for-profit corporations that are arguing their religious convictions should preclude them from offering employees the health insurance required by law. Specifically, these private employers don’t want to allow their employees’ insurance to cover some forms of birth control because, contrary to medicaland scientific evidence, they believe some birth control causes abortions. Corporations are not people. Corporations cannot have religious views. If religious rights are extended to corporations, it puts us on a slippery slope where any private company
