Is Hugo Chávez Really Back in Venezuela?
Daily Beast, by Mac Margolis

Original Article

Posted By:hobbitcid, 2/21/2013 4:04:29 AM

The ailing leader reportedly returned to Caracas from Cuba on Monday, but his plane landed before dawn, with no TV coverage, and the public has not seen or heard from him—prompting some opponents to challenge him to step up, and others to spin conspiracy theories.

Comments:
Interesting turn of events, even his closest allies cannot see him personally but have been assured that he survived and is improving every day. A Weekend at Bernie´s perhaps?

I think the whole idea of going to Cuba for operations/ treatments was to demonstrate how wonderful socialized medicine is.If Chavez doesn´t survive,it would be a poor reflection on their healthcare system.

There could also be a large contingent of people in Venezuela who don´t want Maduro to be their next president,,so keeping people guessing may just be buying time for the political class to figure out Chavez´s heir to the throne.

Obviously,they´ve adopted Obama´s transparency model.

Famed former CNN host Larry King said he has never heard of Juanita Broaddrick Thursday in an interview with Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV. Broadrrick, a former Arkansas nursing home worker, accused President Clinton of raping her during the late 1970s in a 1998 Dateline interview. Malzberg was describing a double standard of media coverage during the 2012 conventions, noting left wing pundits dubbed the GOP convention a “convention of rapists” while remaining silent on President Clinton’s keynote address despite sexual assault allegations directed against the former president. King interjected “Hold up, hold up. Stop! Bill Clinton was accused of rape?” Malzberg reacted

"Men on earth are not all the same. Black people are called Negroes. Most of them live in Africa." This is a part of a reading exercise for second grade children in Iceland, seven years old. The father of a second grade girl posted a photo of the assignment on Facebook a couple of days ago and the story has gone viral since. Racism in Iceland The assignment in question can be seen in the photo above (in Icelandic) but roughly translates to: "Men on earth are not all the same. Black people are called Negroes. Establishment Republicans and a right-wing group of former spies and special forces operatives that says it is nonpartisan but has historical Republican ties are raising a ruckus over Hillary Rodham Clinton´s handling of the 2012 assault on U.S. installations in Benghazi, Libya. The criticism of Clinton over the deadly attacks appears to be a preview of what the former secretary of state can expect should she pursue a presidential bid in 2016.(Snip)At the same time, more personal accusations have been laid against Clinton by OPSEC (military slang for "operational security"), a group of former special forces and intelligence operatives that

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in direct contact with President Barack Obama at least 18 times between October 2012 and October 2013, including seven occasions where her draft calendar showed Obamacare as the topic of conversation. The news appears to contradict her insistence that Obama was in the dark about problems plaguing the ill-fated healthcare.gov website in the months leading up to its October 1, 2013 launch. The Hill newspaper reported Thursday that documents released through a Freedom of Information Act request show meetings, events and phone calls where the two were together. They also show at

In a segment on last night’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, political commentator and prodigal GOP son Ron Reagan called out Sen. Ted Cruz’s latest filibustering of a Senate bill to increase the debt ceiling as self-destructive maneuver that achieved nothing — except, perhaps, hastened the destruction of the GOP. “What exactly was on Ted Cruz’s mind?” a boggled Reagan asked. “What was he thinking of in terms of his Senate colleagues? They could have all voted against the debt limit increase, they could have all gone home to their constituents in Tennessee or Kentucky or wherever, and they could have said,

At least every week now, there is a new story supporting the narrative of an inevitable 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential bid. Indeed, the conventional wisdom is that it is an absolute certainty that she will run. If anyone is currently saying, flat out, that Hillary isn´t running, I haven´t come across them. Is the inevitability of her run really as certain as the conventional wisdom suggests, and further, is it unfolding in an optimal manner for the potential candidate? In all likelihood, Clinton will not make a final, "go-or-no-go" decision until early next year, after the dust has settled from

Less than 24 hours after President Obama illegally rewrote the law he had previously jammed down Boehner´s -- and the country´s -- throat, Boehner handed the budding dictator a clean debt-ceiling hike. Last October, Obama vindictively shut down the federal government upon his having refused to delay ObamaCare, which of course is exactly what he himself lawlessly did on February 10, 2014! Of course, Boehner is hardly in a position to argue now, having foolishly (immensely so) accepted responsibility for the shutdown. Never mind Boehner´s cowardice (we´ll get to that in a moment); what kind of moron cedes that kind of maneuverability to

I imagine the only thing worse than being forced to watch CNN inside an airport terminal is being forced to watch it in a doctor’s office. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered a Michigan health care facility, funded by federal tax dollars, blocked Fox News Channel from its waiting room television sets. The president of Family Health Care directed staff to block Fox News after a board member complained about our network’s coverage of the Affordable Care Act, an employee told me. “The board member complained that patients were turning the channel to Fox News,” said the employee who asked

The school of literary criticism known as reception theory holds that a text should be studied in light of its effect on its contemporaries, that a reader should be aware of the “horizon of expectations” in which a text is produced. I was reminded of this the other day as I observed, in amusement, fascination, and occasional pity, the reaction of the so-called mainstream media to Alana Goodman’s lengthy and rock-solid report on “The Hillary Papers.” This trove of previously unexamined transcriptions of conversations between Hillary Clinton and her best friend Diane Blair had been collecting dust at the University

The jailed former football star, who is serving out a kidnapping, assault and robbery sentence in a Nevada prison, is reportedly so depressed that he wants to ´just sit down in a corner and die´.

Is demonic possession real or the manifestation of mental illness? In assisting priests in nearly 100 exorcisms, Adam Blai has become a true believer in good and evil, God and the devil. "If you’ve seen the things in the Gospels played out in front of you, it ceases to become faith. It’s knowledge,” says Blai. Former Allegheny County commissioner Bob Cranmer says he shares that same knowledge. He says his home was possessed. “I’ve seen it; I’ve seen crucifixes bent in half repeatedly. I’ve seen Rosary beads torn apart. That doesn’t happen,” said Cranmer. “That’s an evil. That’s not Casper

We cheered a week ago, when President Obama used the National Prayer Breakfast to call for release of two Americans. The first is Kenneth Bae, a prisoner of North Korea. The other is Saeed Abedini, a prisoner of Iran. Each has been sentenced to long prison terms for “crimes” that only a criminal regime would deem criminal: Bae for ministering to Christians and Abedini for work on behalf of house churches. Alas, the week since Obama’s call confirms a depressing fact about America’s diminished standing in the world these days. Pyongyang packed Bae off to one of its labor camps in the vast
