Michelle Obama released her official White House portrait today, and it´s hard to miss the photo´s most prominent feature: her bangs. The 49-year-old fashion-forward first lady debuted the bangs in January, sending the Internet into a frenzy. She recently told TV host Rachael Ray that the bangs were her version of a "mid-life crisis." The new portrait, taken in the Green Room of the White House on Feb. 12, shows

But seriously, given what the photographer had to work with, it ain´t that bad...

OK. The bangs make her nose look wider and blobbier and her face doughier. She can no longer let a sweep of hair cover that her "Little (right) Eye". And she generally looks older and more common. If that is possible.

And she´s now stuck with all those bange wigs of different lengths. Just when the closet floor was so cluttered...

Those "sensible" sleeves the writer noticed cover those menopausal (former) guns. Not so toned any more, they often show the batwing-iness that comes with age.

She looks like helmet head. She can appear quite pretty with the right cut, this isn´t it. She should try off the shoulders out of the face and add some curls.

Aside from voters "feel good" status, she offers only negatives. And her room-mate is the new version of a Muslim terrorist.

Some outrageous folks opine that that new wig (and it is a wig, kids) covers cosmetic surgery scars.

And/or she has been spending too much time lately with Anna Wintour of Vogue - where she is said to be on the March cover. ??? Has anyone seen it in the supermarket and turned it over?

Maybe it´s just me, but doesn´t this whole dog and pony show bother anyone else? I don´t care how flattering her bangs or sleeves are, or how the photgrapher did a reasonably good job given the subject. The country is going through the toughest economic times since the Great Depression; we are being invaded by foreign nationals who are taking our jobs, medical care, educational opportunities and promise to skew our elections; our national defense is being gutted; we no longer have a reasonable expectation of representation at the federal level; we have certifiably liars, loons and buffoons at our highest cabinet levels; we have a president who is either complicit or indifferent to our suffering and in the midst of all of this insanity, Michelle unveils her self-portrait after flying back from her annual, taxpayer funded, ski trip to Aspen and her husband´s taxpayer funded $1M plus three day golf weekend. I wish I could say that this is a Marie Antoinette level of disengagement and disinterest, but even poor Marie cared more. This is more like Nero.

I do not like this woman, not one bit. But this picture of her is good, as far as pictures go. If she would just dress and look this way when she is on official White House business, she would be MUCH less of an embarrassment. A quiet dress with no wide and high belt, pearls (not a chunky African necklace), a nice hair style and an actual smile on her face. Even her nails are toned down and nicely done, with no loud jewelry. This picture doesn´t make me cringe.

I just love reading all the oozing up to Moo trash being written when the truth is that the woman is repulsive and a single look at her is enough to put any need to find a word beyond "ugly" to describe her. Whe really does her in is that she´s ugly from the inside out and it shows. I don´t care which sleaze designer she favors, they can hang anything on her and it won´tl change mean, nasty, cheap, and classless. In a woman like this pig, it´s inbred.

I´d rather read her answers to why she no longer has a law degree and about 50 more questions that were inspired after reading her Princeton thesis in which she makes it crystal clear that her hatred for "whitey" is real.

Here’s a situation where a black woman in the White House could make a difference. Earlier this week, the U.S. Army released its new appearance and grooming regulations, AR 670-1, and it was a real burn for African-American female soldiers. The updated rules ban twists, multiple braids bigger than a quarter of an inch in diameter, and dreadlocks of any size. Cornrows also can’t be bigger than a quarter of an inch. As of Wednesday afternoon, nearly 8,000 people had signed a petition calling on President Barack Obama to order the Army to reconsider the regulations because they are “racially biased.” The petition

In less than a week, he was forced out of this position for no reason other than that he had a made a $1000 contribution to the Prop 8 initiative in 2008. His

The State Department has no idea what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors. In a special “management alert” made public Thursday, the State Department’s Inspector General Steve Linick warned “significant financial risk and a lack of internal control at the department has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years. The alert was just the latest example of the federal government’s continued struggle with oversight over its outside contractors. The lack of oversight “exposes the department to significant financial risk,” the auditor said. “It creates conditions conducive to fraud, as corrupt individuals may attempt

In his opening statement during highly anticipated testimony Wednesday on Benghazi, former CIA deputy director Michael Morell claimed to be an intelligence professional who was willing to lay out the facts -- no matter how damaging. "I take very seriously the allegations about how the CIA in general and about how I in particular handled the analysis and the talking points," Morell told the House Intelligence Committee, in his first public testimony on the Benghazi attacks. "The ethical code under which intelligence officers carry out their responsibilities calls for total objectivity." But Morell´s own testimony would appear to undercut that

Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich will step down following uproar over his apparent opposition to gay marriage. In a statement released Thursday, Mozilla -- which makes the Firefox Web browser -- apologized for not reacting more quickly to the controversy surrounding Eich, who made a 2008 donation supporting California´s plan on gay marriage, The Guardian reports. "We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right: it´s because we haven´t stayed true to ourselves," said Mozilla executive chairwoman Mitchell Baker in a statement. Last week, Eich attempted to dispel fears on whether he would support equality as the head

Muslim moms and dads in Dearborn, Mich. are upset after students received flyers promoting an Easter Egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church. The parents say the egg hunt violates the U.S. Constitution. The Muslims told the Detroit Free-Press that they were concerned about the religious implications of Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church’s “Eggstravaganza!” They were also troubled by images of a bunny rabbit. “It really bothered my two kids,” parent Majed Moughni, told the newspaper. “My son was like, ‘Dad, I really don’t feel comfortable getting these flyers, telling me to go to church. I thought churches are not supposed

Earlier this week on Boston’s WRKO-AM’s The Howie Carr Show, conservative commentator Ann Coulter shocked some conservatives when she said she is making 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney her favorite for the 2016 Republican contest. Last month in an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation, Romney himself ruled out the possibility of a 2016 run and said he was instead focused on who to get behind in that contest. Coulter, however, wishes otherwise. “Well, don´t tell him but I´m planning on giving Mitt Romney a little more time to rest -- flying out, kidnapping him and depriving him of sleep, food and

A 54-year-old white man has been left barely clinging to life after he was brutally beaten by a group of black men when he got out of his car to check on a young black boy he accidentally hit. Steve Utash, from suburban Roseville, was beaten into a coma Wednesday by an angry mob in a poverty-stricken Detroit neighborhood after David Harris, 10, ran in front of his truck on a busy street, but police insist the incident was not racially motivated. The gang also stole his wallet before leaving him for dead. Utash is in extremely critical

Attorney General Eric Holder disputed a Government Accountability Office report on his use of Justice Department airplanes for personal trips, saying it overstated the number of trips he took and failed to recognize that some trips were job-related. "My staff keeps telling me to take it easy, you know, well, this is one that gets me," Holder told Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing. "There was this notion that we´ve taken -- I think it was described as hundreds of personal trips. That was wrong. GAO counted flights, not round trips. And we looked at it

According to a report via BuzzFeed’s Evan McMorris-Santoro, President Barack Obama requested the opportunity to address the nation in prime time on the major broadcast networks on Tuesday night to announce that the Affordable Care Act had reached 7 million enrollees. Those networks did not, however, accommodate the White House’s request. “Three sources familiar with the request confirmed the White House asked for the prime time slot in their effort both to emphasize a bright moment following the challenging roll out and, more important, to try to reintroduce the country to a law that remains unpopular,”

President Barack Obama contended that the government did not “make a hard sell” for Obamacare, despite his administration spending nearly $700 million to promote the law. “We didn’t make a hard sell,” Obama said in the Rose Garden on Tuesday, praising the 7.1 million sign ups for the Affordable Care Act. “We didn’t have billions of dollars of commercials like some critics did.” However, last July the Associated Press reported that Obamacare’s marketing campaign would cost at least $684 million. Taxpayer funding went to all 50 states in efforts to encourage people to enroll, including nearly $28 million for the

Do you think members of Congress are overpaid or underpaid? Most likely you’d go with the former, but Democratic congressman Jim Moran argues it’s actually the latter. In an interview with CQ Roll Call, Moran says, “I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid.” The House recently took up a bill to freeze members’ paychecks, placing another halt on the annual cost-of-living pay increases they would normally get and keeping annual salary at $174,000. Moran believes that this is the wrong way to go, not necessarily talking about himself in particular, but saying there
