Administration revives wage and
overtime fight for home-care workers

The Hill (DC), by Ben Goad

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 2/20/2013 5:58:42 AM

The Obama administration is moving forward with a contentious and long-dormant proposal to institute minimum wage and overtime standards for the in-home healthcare industry. Enactment of the regulations, which are under final review at the White House, would represent a major victory for unions that have fought for decades to win higher pay for direct-care aides. But industry groups warn that the rule would cause home-care expenses to skyrocket, hurling an otherwise healthy sector of the economy into upheaval.

Even worse than this, is when the illegals get amnesty, all those cheap labor jobs they´ve been doing will all of a sudden become minimum wage jobs.

Let´s push on for amnesty though.

Obama simply couldn´t stand one of the few sectors in the economy that´s actually growing and expanding so he throws in the monkey wrench over overpaid unions workers to destroy the industry.I´m sure there´s plenty of elderly people who can barley afford for current services and it´s possible the higher wages would get passed onto Medicare, breaking that system sooner than expected.

Of course this is just another example of payoffs to donors.

Home-care is profitable for well managed companies serving elderly and disabled with means to pay for the service. The Obama administration is attacking those profits from 3 angles. First, they are expanding the services to the poor who rely on government support. Next they have published thousands of new rules to burden the providers. And now, they are increasing the labor costs involved. The inevitable consequence will be poorer service at greater cost to the taxpayers.

Obama doesn´t care about the client needing in home care. What elderly person wants several strangers coming into their home to possibly steal from them? It is called personal care because the client chooses their caregiver.
This could also raise costs of long term care facilities who might lose licensed aides to the home health industry because if higher wages there. Long term care facilities would necessarily have to raise their wages and pass that along to their residents. Of course Obama doesn´t care about the economic pain he causes among the masses.

ObamaCare’s Potemkin Enrollment Figures
Commentary Magazine, by Jonathan S. Tobin    Original Article

Yesterday, mainstream media outlets were trumpeting some good news about President Obama’s embattled signature health-care legislation. More than 1.1 million people enrolled in ObamaCare in January. That was a marked increase over previous months when a dysfunctional website and widespread skepticism about the law kept enrollment numbers down. While the million new ObamaCare customers were not enough by themselves to offset the dramatic shortfall in the enrollment figures that calls into question the ability of the scheme to pay for itself, the White House and Democrats were encouraged by the fact that a large number of this total were made

The news that L. Brent Bozell, the ginger-bearded conservative ideologue who runs the Media Research Center, doesn’t write his own columns landed in Washington with a thud Thursday. Jim Romenesko reported that Bozell uses Tim Graham, the MRC’s Director of Media Analysis as his ghostwriter. One former Media Research Center employee reacted to the news with a deep sense of befuddlement, “I thought everyone knew it.” Bozell was once relatively important in the conservative movement, playing off his connections to his uncle William F. Buckley, but in recent years he’s become a marginalized, antiquated figure. As The Daily Beast reported

Jerome Hauer, a top aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, appears to have regularly carried a firearm to work in violation of state law. Hauer runs New York’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Cuomo, an advocate of ultra-strict gun control laws, appointed him to the job in 2011. Hauer’s 9-millimeter Glock first came to the attention of local newspapers when he used the gun’s laser sighting attachment as a pointer during a meeting with a Swedish delegation. That event occurred last October at a State Police bunker, and was first reported by the Albany Times Union in January. Officials at

Not a single North Korean athlete qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. That was no obstacle, however, to North Korea’s titular head of state and president of its “parliament,” Kim Yong Nam, leading a delegation of North Korean officials to the Olympics. According to North Korea’s state mouthpiece, the Korean Central News Agency, they were seen off at the Pyongyang airport on Feb. 5 by ”a suite” of fellow North Korean officials, as well as the Russian ambassador to North Korea. Once in Russia, Kim Yong Nam and his suite appear to have fashioned their own athletics-free Olympic program

A subdued Nagin, who remains free on bond, maintained his innocence in brief comments to reporters, while his attorney Robert Jenkins said that they planned to appeal.
