An 80-year-old woman was knocked off her scooter when she tried to fight off a man robbing her of her purse in Gloucester City. Police allege that 22-year-old John E. Reed approached the woman from behind while she was riding her electric scooter on the 500 block of Cumberland Street at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday. Reed grabbed the woman´s purse and tried to flee, but the woman wouldn´t let go, according to Gloucester City police. He then pushed the woman, knocking her off the scooter, and ran away with the purse.

Comments:
The picture looks as though this was one from the Occupy crowd.

My mother is 79 and I finally convinced her to stop carrying a purse. She carries the bare minimum of what she needs in her pocket.

One of our friends ended up in the hospital with a dislocated shoulder, multiple cuts and bruises, and a screwed up knee. All because someone on a bicycle grabbed her shoulder bag and dragged her when it didn´t come off easily.

My favorite story is about the woman who was out walking her dog and got mugged. The guy took the purse and got a surprise. She kept her wallet in a paper bag and put the poop in the purse! Now that´s getting what you deserve!

Playing classical music such as Beethoven and Mozart to young children boosts their concentration and self-discipline, a new study suggests. Youngsters also improve their general listening and social skills by being exposed to repertoires from composers including Ravel, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn. In addition, they are likely to appreciate a wider range of music in later years, according to a study from the Institute of Education, (IoE), University of London.

ANTIOCH, CA. - Police say a man with every intention of robbing a Wells Fargo Bank, entered that establishment on Monday morning and approached a bank teller. Without saying a word, the man took out a note and handed it to the teller. The only problem was...the teller couldn´t read the note. According to police, the teller was unable to decipher the handwriting and then contacted her manager for assistance. As the teller consulted with her manager, police say the suspect made a break for it, exiting the bank through the back door.

LOS ANGELES – Two-time Oscar-winning actress, political activist and philanthropist Jane Fonda came under fire Thursday after it was revealed that her Jane Fonda Foundation hasn’t made a single charitable donation in the past five years, even though it’s worth almost $800,000. According to federal tax filings obtained by FOX411 and first published on The Smoking Gun, the Atlanta-based organization – of which Fonda is listed as president and chairman of the board, but receives no monetary compensation – was founded in 2004 and spent its first two years giving away large sums of money. Three years ago, New Jersey regulators suspended abortion provider Steven Brigham´s medical license for endangering and deceiving patients. During the suspension hearing, he testified that he was covered by medical malpractice insurance. Now, as Brigham, 57, tries to regain his license, New Jersey prosecutors have submitted evidence that his sworn statement was yet another lie. They allege that not only did he stop carrying required liability insurance around 2006, but last month produced a phony insurance policy when forced to back up the statement.

Yesterday, in an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, President Obama addressed the problems caused by his incessantly-repeated pledge to the American public that “if you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” As millions of Americans receive cancellation letters in the mail, however, that pledge looked increasingly strained. “I am sorry that they, you know, are finding themselves in this situation, based on assurances they got from me,” the President said last night. In the course of his interview, however, Mr. Obama made

They´re so fed up with students quoting the camel commercial that they´ve banned all references to the spot, which is, apparently, a thing that seemed reasonable to them. "Everybody´s walking around in the hallways and saying it´s hump day in that weird voice," said Brooke Lewis, who is a student at Vernon Center Middle School.

It´s no surprise that Barack Obama´s authoritarian streak is revealing itself at last. It was always there; clearly apparent in his rhetoric (e.g., his envy of Chinese president Xi Jin-ping´s powers), his abuse of executive orders, his threats against Congress, his sultan with fly-whisk attitudes toward his opposition, and even his vacations, which reek more of third-world trash gamboling on the Riviera than any American leader (George W. Bush settled his mind by clearing brush in Texas, Reagan at his ranch in Santa Barbara. Obama unfortunately finds the brush already cleared in Martha´s Vineyard and Hawaii.)

President Obama has repeatedly suspended parts of the Affordable Care Act without the consent of Congress. The latest unilateral action happened Monday night, when the administration announced another delay of the employer mandate, the law´s provision that businesses with more than 50 employees must provide their employees with insurance starting in 2014 or pay large fines. In July, the president decreed the mandate wouldn´t be enforced at all in 2014, and last night administration officials declared that businesses with 50 to 99 employees wouldn´t be penalized in 2015.
