Obama Doesn´t Have

RUSH: Folks, what is paramount and obvious to me is here´s Obama, and he gets back from his vacation, and immediately -- with no provocation, by the way. There isn´t anybody outside of Jeff Sessions, maybe, hitting Obama. But Jeff Sessions isn´t really, either. There was nobody on the Republican side trying to pick a fight with Obama. Nobody´s insulting him. Nobody on the Republican side is doing anything other than mild -- mild, even by political standards -- criticism.

Putin´s Challenge to the West
Wall Street Journal, by Robert M. Gates    Original Article

Russian President Vladimir Putin has a long-festering grudge: He deeply resents the West for winning the Cold War. He blames the United States in particular for the collapse of his beloved Soviet Union, an event he has called the "worst geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century." His list of grievances is long and was on full display in his March 18 speech announcing the annexation of Crimea by Russia. He is bitter about what he sees as Russia´s humiliations in the 1990s—economic collapse; the expansion of NATO to include members of the U.S.S.R.´s own "alliance," the Warsaw Pact; Russia´s agreement to

Russia´s military staged training exercises on Tuesday in Transdniestria, a breakaway sliver of Moldova that is a focus of tension following Russia´s annexation of Ukraine´s Crimea region. NATO´s top military commander said on Sunday he was worried that Russia might have its eye on Transdniestria, a largely Russian-speaking region that borders western Ukraine, after seizing Crimea, which has a narrow ethnic Russian majority. The Interfax news agency quoted a spokesman for Russia´s Western Military District, Colonel Oleg Kochetkov, as saying that Russian forces stationed in Transdniestria had "conducted an anti-terrorism drill and practiced operations to rebuff an attack on their military base". ObamaCare v. Religious Liberty

The Affordable Care Act returned to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, as the Justices heard a major challenge to the law´s birth-control mandate. Five and maybe even six Justices across ideological lines seemed discomfited by the Administration´s cramped conception of religious liberty. In 2012 the Health and Human Services Department published a regulation interpreting an ObamaCare provision to require all for-profit employer health plans to cover 20 contraception methods, including four that some religious believers consider abortifacients and sterilization. The combined cases of Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores and Conestoga Wood Specialties v. Sebelius are challenging the mandate under a 1993

: Harry Reid blames Russia´s annexation of Crimea on Republicans who didn´t act fast enough on a sanctions package. But he ignores Obama´s appeasement as president and push when a senator to disarm Ukraine. The Senate Majority Leader´s latest claim is consistent with other utterances out of his parallel universe, including calling Stage IV cancer patients liars about Obamacare´s collateral damage and asking why we´d want to save one child with cancer. "Since a few Republicans blocked these important sanctions, Russian lawmakers voted to annex Crimea, and Russian forces have taken over Ukrainian military bases," Harry Reid said Monday as the Senate

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - With Moscow showing no signs of backing down from the standoff over Ukraine, President Obama today took a swing at Russian President Putin´s status on the global stage - describing Russia as simply a "regional power." "America´s got a whole lot of challenges. Russia is a regional power that is threatening some of its immediate neighbors - not out of strength, but out of weakness," Obama said at a joint press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Asked by ABC News if he now agrees with former political rival Mitt Romney´s assertion that Russia is America´s top

Nuclear Terror: President Obama deflects concerns about Russian aggression with a crack about "a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan." His diplomatic wishful thinking on Iran risks exactly that. When it comes to squaring the president´s purported goals on Iran with his policy, what his friend Stevie Wonder sang about Richard Nixon 40 years ago fits like a tailor-made glove. House Democrats to Try and Force

House Democrats are poised to offer their third discharge petition of 2014 Wednesday, this one to force a floor vote on an immigration overhaul bill. They’ll need to get 218 signatures on the petition in order to compel GOP leadership to bring up their legislation, which mirrors the Senate-passed immigration bill, except for some tweaks in the border security language. The likelihood of that outcome is approximately zero: Even the few House Republicans who have broken with their leaders to sign on as co-sponsors to the House bill are not expected to embrace a procedural tactic that would embarrass the majority party. Despite adding almost a trillion dollars to our national debt and failing to keep the unemployment rate at or below 8% as advertised, liberals consider President Obama´s signature stimulus package — the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act — a success, in part because of the number of jobs it "saved." Beyond the obvious failings of the president´s plan, now more than five years old, the approach is illustrative of how presidents sometimes try to stabilize an economy using fiscal policy. But there is a right way and a wrong way. Sen. Ted Cruz recently remarked on two very different fiscal policy outcomes: "Reaganomics means

Listening to President Obama speak, you´d think Russia´s seizure of Crimea, which was part of Ukraine, was no big deal. On Tuesday, he went out of his way to dismiss Gov. Mitt Romney´s comments during the 2012 presidential campaign, in which he described Russia as "America´s No. 1 geopolitical foe." "Russia´s actions are a problem," Obama said. So he became a hero to the Democrats. And during the 2012 campaign there was all kinds of confusion about the polling data. You had Dick Morris out there saying, "Well, you´re gonna have all kinds of Romney turnout

A pair of potentially catastrophic cases will be argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday. These cases are brought by privately held, for-profit corporations that are arguing their religious convictions should preclude them from offering employees the health insurance required by law. Specifically, these private employers don’t want to allow their employees’ insurance to cover some forms of birth control because, contrary to medicaland scientific evidence, they believe some birth control causes abortions. Corporations are not people. Corporations cannot have religious views. If religious rights are extended to corporations, it puts us on a slippery slope where any private company

When asked on NBC’s Meet the Press yesterday by Andrea Mitchell why it was that Barack Obama never called upon him for advice, he made it clear that the Jewish state was the reason he has been treated like a pariah: I—that’s a hard question– for me to answer—you know, with complete candor. A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

Most Supreme Court watchers are fixated these days on Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby—the important challenge to the Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate scheduled for argument Tuesday. And why wouldn’t they be? With its potent mix of religion, sex, Obamacare, and prayerful corporations, it’s the blockbuster case of the term. It is also a crucial test of Chief Justice John Roberts’s leadership on the Supreme Court. Just two years ago, Roberts cast the deciding vote to largely uphold the Affordable Care Act. While the country remains divided over whether he acted like a traitor or a statesman, all would have to agree
