The sequester is inevitable.
So why is President
Obama still trying to avert it?

Washington Post, by Chris Cillizza

For the second time in recent weeks, President Obama used the bully pulpit to make the case for dodging the rapidly-approaching package of automatic cuts known as the sequester. “It won’t help the economy. It won’t create jobs. It will visit hardship on a whole lot of people,” Obama said in remarks earlier Tuesday, adding later: “The American people have worked too hard, for too long, rebuilding from one crisis to see their elected officials cause another.” But, it would be a mistake to assume that Obama’s emphasis on the need to avert the sequester means that he believes

Obama is not trying to avert the sequester. He is trying to make it so that people blame Republicans when he uses it as an excuse to axe programs that he does not like (but the American people do).

We already have hardship visiting a whole lot of people, an ongoing crisis called The Zero Administration. The blatant hypocrisy of Zero´s statements in this regard is even more mind-numbing than usual. If Zero wants to discuss elected officials causing a horrific crisis, maybe he should discuss his health care nightmare.

I offer once again to sit down in a small Washington office with a box of Sharpies and whatever passes for the most recent annual budget, and clean up a few matters, enough to balance our spending against our income and have some left over.

Mention this to Senator McConnell and Speaker Boehner.

Just remember if a dem says something it most probably as a lie . Let the sequester take effect and then make modifications to it. This is the only chance the repubs have in getting our fiscal house in order. I´m hoping the repubs do this, but won´t be surprised to see Rino´s screw it up.

I had an extraordinary telephone conservation with my 86-year-old black dad, a lifelong Democrat and huge Obama fan. He called to ask me, “Is Obama anti-Christian?” Dad has been a Christian pastor for over 50 years. I said, “Dad, I have been telling you about Obama´s anti-Christian policies for the past five years.” Dad replied, “And I have not been listening.” Dad confessed that he simply could not bring himself to go against a black man in the White House. Britain will be forced to abandon its nuclear weapons if Scotland becomes independent, a senior admiral has warned. In an article for The Daily Telegraph today, Vice-Adml John McAnally said Scottish independence is “the biggest strategic threat faced by our Armed Forces”. He warned that Britain would lose its seat on the UN Security Council and England and Scotland would be reduced to “two struggling nations on Europe’s periphery”. Vice-Adml McAnally, a former commandant of the Royal College of Defence Studies, said there is “every possibility” Britain could be forced into unilateral nuclear disarmament. On the surface, it appeared that a major New York hospital had gratefully accepted a $100 million gift from a philanthropic family with a long history of donating to the arts, higher learning and medicine. But the new wing at New York-Presbyterian Hospital inspired a bizarre protest last weekend by activist groups including the NAACP New York State Conference, the New York State Nurses’ Association and the hospital-employee union SEIU Local 1199. Surely there had to be a catch to the hospital wing. Why else would it be a source of such distress? Was there a provision that would cause all

For half a century, television ads have been the staple of political campaigns, the preferred, if costly, vehicle for communicating a candidate’s message to the voters. What happens when people stop watching live television? That day hasn’t arrived yet and probably never will. But the outlines of the new world of television watching habits — and their implications for political campaigns — were highlighted in a survey released Thursday at a conference hosted by Harvard’s Institute of Politics and the Internet Association. By now it’s settled on most people, including Democrats, that the loss of Alex Sink to David Jolly in Florida’s 13th Congressional District was, in the words of the New York Times, “devastating” to Democrats. It’s a district Ms. Sink carried in her unsuccessful race for governor against Rick Scott, a district that Barack Obama carried in his two elections, and a district that demographically now favors Democrats. In addition, Ms. Sink raised more money and ran a better campaign than Jolly. Even Bill Clinton lent his efforts to her campaign. And yet she lost. What should particularly alarm Democrats is
