What if you are male and your "partner" is nominally a female, but claims to be a pre-op transsexual that you are engaged in a sexual relationship with? See, then you would be in a "homosexual" partnership eligible for benefits, right?

This is a pretty lame article. The Federal Government, with DOMA, declares that gay marriage is illegal. So, in order to give its gay employees equal marriage benefits, it cannot use a marriage license as the prerequisite. I cannot believe that the hets-only crowd is crowing now about unequal treatment and discrimination.

#17, there are a lot of heterosexual couples that can´t get married, too: for instance, a brother and sister, a mother and son, a 30-year-old and a 13-year-old, a man and woman who are already married to somebody else. Should they all get benefits, too? Why not? Love = love, right?
I want two brothers to sign up for these DOD programs, certify they are both male, and say "Where´s my benefits?"
And then I want 3 of them to do it. Because love=love=love.

Fans of Glenn Beck are complaining about what I wrote yesterday about his speech at the National Rifle Association convention, where he used a giant image of Michael Bloomberg photoshopped into what appeared to be an image of Hitler with his arm raised in a Nazi salute and wearing an armband. The Beck crowd now tells me that it wasn’t Hitler’s picture into which the New York mayor was transposed but that of Communist leader Vladimir Lenin. Northwestern University continued to stumble over diversity issues this week as Mexican students voiced disagreement with a campuswide letter that advised students not to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by engaging in racially-offensive activities, such as eating tacos and drinking tequila. The letter was sent to students via e-mail, and published in The Daily Northwestern last week. Leaders of Alianza, a Latino student group, and the Associated Student Government called on students to remember that Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over France in the Battle of Puebla.
