Americans for Prosperity Set to Clash
Against Rove´s Super PAC

Big Government (Breitbart), by Tony Lee

Original Article

Posted By:mikkins2, 2/18/2013 11:33:27 AM

Americans for Prosperity, the conservative group that has fiercely supported free market principles and embraced the Tea Party movement, is considering getting involved in Republican primaries next year, which could pit the group against Karl Rove´s recently-created super PAC. Tim Phillips, president of Americans for Prosperity, said the group will consider threatening GOP lawmakers in primaries who increase spending or taxes. After Rove created his "Conservative Victory Project," many conservatives felt the group was meant to wage war against Tea Party candidates.

Comments:
Time to take the party back.

Got Tea?

I am Sarah Ted Palin Cruz!

Well, I am not "Sarah Ted Palin Cruz", whatever that might have meant. However, I say welcome to any group whose intent is to field good candidates for us. What´s not to like?

Saying they are "considering" getting involved in republican primaries, isn´t very encouraging. What are they "considering"? Are they "considering" that, since Rove´s chosen candidates won´t be conservatives, but RINOs, they maybe able te extort some cash from Rove´s group to stay out of it?

Don´t trust any of the hucksters that are gong to come along, based on Rove´s (and the GOP´s) determination to move the party to the left. They are just as crooked, don´t give two squats about this country, (just money), and will waste our time in taking BACK the country.

What #1 said. In the past, the demonrats were the targets being challenged by members of the GOP... now not so much... IMHO, there is nothing to celebrate about "groups" "clashing" against fellow Republicans who are ALL trying to get Republicans Elected, rather than dems. Good grief!

#4. Your comment goes to the heart of the matter. The fight ain´t between R´s; it´s between those who are principled conservatives
first and insist the GOP stand for something; and those R hustlers like Rove whose laser like focus is on ´winning´ for no particular purpose. You´re smart enough to understand this.

How patronizing, #6.

I don´t have to guess who gets to decide which are the acceptable candidates. I believe I will decide for myself and my decision will not be based on which PAC sent money.

Oscar Pistorius murder charge:
Reeva Steenkamp’s iPad ‘intrinsic

Telegraph [UK], by Aislinn Laing

Police in South Africa are treating the iPad of slain model Reeva Steenkamp as “an intrinsic part” of their investigation amid reports that a late-night message from a rugby player might have sparked a row with boyfriend Oscar Pistorius that led to her death. The iPad was reportedly found on the bedroom floor of Mr Pistorius’ home after Miss Steenkamp was shot dead in the early hours of Thursday morning. Francois Hougaard, the South African national team rugby player at the centre of the rumours, who was friends with both Mr Pistorius, 26, and Miss Steenkamp,

#7. Wasn´t patronizing Malia at all, just stating something that should be obvious. Sure, the choice of candidate is one´s own and always has been. That´s hardly the point. For far to long the voters have chosen between Tweedledum and Tweedledee and the result is self-evident; nothing changes. Surely you must have noticed by now?

Better for Americans for Prosperity to put their resources toward a new party. The GOP elites will wag their fingers with dire warnings of Democrat dominance - but they ignore that a new party without the "party of the rich" albatross would also draw from the Democrats. The two-party big-tent status quo simply no longer works. There´s a middle-class vacuum to be filled. The ideal multi-party system is where no party, including the Democrat party, commands an absolute majority. Then "compromise" must occur on a candidate-by-candidate and issue-by-issue basis, not once every four years. Electoral and legislative success would depend on coalitions of the various parties. The NY Conservative party (which endorses conservative GOP candidates and issues) is a template.

Fascinating.
I was very open about supporting Romney/Ryan and I am still dismayed that America seems intent upon voting its own self-destruction. Now it appears Republicans are following suit.
As of this moment, I have no dog in this hunt. I thought we would all hang together or hang separately. Perhaps it doesn´t matter. I am pretty well convinced America is a left of center country these days. Knock yourselves out and wake me when the grown-ups return (if there are any left).

We nominated a presidential candidate whose PAC was run by a Rove protege and that PAC concentrated its efforts in late 2011 and the primary season on silencing good candidates and muting substantive discussions. Negative ops and planted stories-- a scorched earth policy which won a nomination and coordinated a loss of almost unbelievable proportion against a very defeatable candidate. Now it is claimed that all good candidates are welcome, but that somehow group think focusing on principles and ideologies is somehow patronizing and counterproductive, er, um, unless Karl Rove and his are deciding who the good candidates are, and which ones ought to be weeded out.

Apparently it all depends on whose ox is being gored.

Is there anyone remaining with an IQ above room temperature who actually believes that the Republican Party believes in limited government, as defined by the U.S. constitution? If so, they have either been hibernating or have been in complete self-denial. Every election cycle the Republican Party counts on its “conservative base” to dutifully turn out and mark their ballot for whatever candidate has been selected by the GOP leadership. We are told ad infinitum that doing so will keep the Democrat liberal demons from furthering their agenda. The inside-the-beltway establishment has been chanting this mantra for years

People continually complain that with the different faces who have disgraced the Offices of the President and Vice President, the one hundred (100) seats within the Senate and the four hundred thirty-five (435) seats within the House of Representatives, nothing improves for the masses, only for those who are elected and special interests. This is frustrating and we need to assess why, so we can change this ‘continuing resolution’. It appears that the GOP and the Democrat Party have merged.

For the past several years, congressional Republicans have focused relentlessly on a single message: Washington — led by President Obama — is spending too much money, and it needs to stop. But according to new Washington Post-ABC News polling, that laser-like focus isn’t helping Republicans win the argument over federal spending — with 67 percent of those tested disapproving of the “way Republicans in Congress are handling federal spending.”

Demographics are destiny. Nothing else makes history. When the changes ahead are shipped into denial is when chaos and disaster ensue. And the potential disasters America faces today do not come from global warming, nuclear weapons, the Russians, the hippies or the rednecks. They come from the economic division of America between the red states, which are rising in capital and prosperity, and the left and right coasts, which are receding in economic power. Demographer Joel Kotkin well outlines the transition in a Wall Street Journal essay yesterday title, “America’s Red State Growth Corridors.”

Today, White House Spokesman Jay Carney asked during a press briefing what Congressman Mike Pompeo, R-Kansas, would say to defense workers facing furlough because of the President’s sequester plan. Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) has been front and center during the latter days of the sequestration showdown, which is good, because he literally wrote the book on government waste. He produces a new edition of his “Wastebook” every year, chronicling the most absurd abuses of taxpayer money. It is wise for Republicans to bring up these horror stories when Obama is racing around the country and insisting that a 2.3 percent reduction in the rate of government growth means we can’t have firefighters or border security. Coburn’s Wastebook should be every American’s indispensable manual

I’m told we’re living in a Moderate Moment. After Mitt Romney lost the election, moderate Republicans started emerging from every corner of the country, from Northwest Washington, D.C. to Arlington, Virginia. It was time, they declared, for calm voices to prevail in the Republican Party. The Tea Party, the right-wing, the “Conservative Entertainment Complex” — all this must be cast overboard for the GOP to win again. The latest iteration of this came in Wednesday’s Washington Post from columnist Kathleen Parker:

Earlier today we posited that Congressional Republicans held a losing political hand when it came to a showdown over the $1.2 trillion in automatic spending cuts — aka the sequester — set to automatically kick in on March 1. We got a fair number of responses from Republicans who argued with the premise –insisting that under our logic the GOP should simply capitulate to Obama on all matters due to the fact that the president is the more popular figure with the public at the moment. I am writing this newsletter in a very direct, no baloney, effort to get across how much trouble we Republicans are in and how real the internal party fight is going to be. I strongly support RNC Chairman Reince Priebus’ effort to think through the lessons of 2012 and develop a better path for the Republican Party. However there are going to be some very powerful opponents to any serious rethinking of Republican doctrines and strategies. It is appalling how little some Republican consultants have learned from the 2012 defeat. It is even more disturbing how arrogant their plans for the future are.
