The only red tape Obama cuts is at the new opening of a golf course. He´s the most callous man to ever hold the office. He looks at people as units and statistics,not people.
Obama didn´t signup to be an administrator of the government but simply expand it with no oversight or accountability. I don´t care how bad Brownie was,he doesn´t compare to that fat loser running FEMA now.

Third world countries always have problems dealing with natural emergencies and under the obama admin that is what our country is becoming. Look at who he is appointing to leadership positions.(kerry, hagel, brennan) to name a few. He is decimating the military command also.

Well, we didn´t get the real story about katrina because of a partisan press, I guess we will hear little or nothing about the Sandy fiasco for the same reason.

Any self respecting human would have been yelling about this from the roof tops. Not the Government hacks! All this comes out now?

President George W. Bush was attacked by the media, mercilessly, for Katrina.
Yet the current president may have been reelected because he was praised by Governor Fat Bast*rd of NJ, for the president´s handling of Sandy.
And the more we look at Sandy, the more it looks as if this president handled things much worse that the previous (and last in a line of heterosexual) president handled Katrina.
Ain´t that ironic?

Since the lib belief is that it ´doesn´t matter how they died´, why would anyone expect decent behavior from any of these people?

Once again we are reminded of the ineptness of government. It will never work as there is no incentive for it to work- we spend billions on these government agencies and nothing functions properly. Why? There is no motive (profit) to insure that all parties get and give according to agreement. When one fails on their part they are fired or sued or held responsible. Government- not so much. Unlikely anyone will lose a job or get sued for providing defective parts or service.

Kathleen Blanco, governor, was responsible for the mess with Katrina. Bush called her more than once offering help before it hit. She refused. Didn´t want the feds taking over and all that. A lot happened in La that never made the big news but it was nothing like the MSM reported.

This Sandy mess, I was shocked to learn there are people still without utilities. Why is this?

It will get much, much worse folks. The gentrified, professional turf protecting bureaucracy in our national government guarantees that nothing important or worthwhile will be accomplished, never mind responding appropriately to national disasters. In fact, it seems odd to me that disasters in other parts of the world get immediate and appropriate response that is far better organized and carried out than what our domestic eunuchs in government service can provide.

What really tears it is the constant whining and complaining of the professional government hack over why they cannot accomplish their "mission" due to lack of this, that, and the other. This is further proof that bureaucracies exist simply to perpetuate their own fiefdoms through blizzards of worthless paperwork and pointless conferences that are really taxpayer funded vacations.

At this rate Rome will have company very soon.

While not plan ever is perfect in execution, FEMA´s response to hurricane Sandy is yet another small piece in the puzzle that depicts the USA´s transformation into a Third World state.

The Federal government would screw up a one car funeral. Incompetent from top to bottom. Every one of them is living in some version of Happy Valley where there´s no need to work hard...on the contrary, just show up and collect the check.

But I still blame Bush beause he should have been right out front, producing the emails, letters offering help and Blanco´s & Nagins´s rejections, on the news, every night, refuting all the lies. But what did Bush and the pubbies do? Stuck their thumbs up their hind ends and said, ´´La la la la la la la.´´ The propaganda ´corpse´ was allowed to frame the discussion and firmly planted the picture in the public psyché that conservatives were heartless, greedy cretins. And now we have the demonic dreck regime governing our country.

Sorry to be unfeeling, but a lot of these "victims" got exactly what they have been voting for -- in spades -- namely, socialism. They believe the government should run everything, and so the government has been doing, in its own inimitable way. As for the workers, as government employees, they must realize that this is the way things "run" in any Soviet Socialist Republic. Stiffen your spines, Comrades! It´s only going to get worse.

after katrina, FEMA got a 22% jump in funding. that has continued since even increased year over year. Then, a full seven years after Katrina, we have a FEMA even more inept than before. What exactly do we have it for? Is it so hard to anticipate having thousands and thousands of generators ready to go? Just that would make a difference. Then emergency plans to keep the generators fueled. These are no brainers. oh, what´s the use?

A large scale disaster is like a 3 ring circus. To be successful, they must arrive on site, erect the tents, stage the show, fold the tents and then get to the next venue. Each locale must have its own plan with logistics of how to get the circus into, erected, and then out of the site.

In the case of hurricanes, the City and State must know where the low spots are, where the tides and winds are likely to do the most damage, and the routes and aid stations that can be used by relief workers bringing aid to the victims.

It is FEMA´s responsibility to bring emergency food, water, power and shelter until regular order can be restored. The biggest foul up was that FEMA discovered they didn´t have any water until the day of the storm. They didn´t get it ordered until a couple of days after the storm, and delivered it to NJ. Apparently FEMA, New York, New Jersey, and NYC never had any emergency planning sessions. If I were the voters, I´d fire them all.

But so what, Obama is working on his backswing in Florida and he does have a new cool new IPhone 5 he is a great President.

In the democrat, liberal Fantasyland, as backed by the lap dog media, a timely photo op equals an effective governmental response. Chris Christie´s tongue licking of Barry Davis (BO) in the first days post-Sandy are all the more obscene in light of the government´s incoherence and failure since that day. We all knew Barry is not qualified to run a lemonade stand, but we must thank Barry for alerting us that the Suck-Up Christie is equally a charlatan...

Well the Democrats are getting a taste of their own medicine, O´ is starting to throw his own under the bus.

I can´t help but think of how the media crucified Bush for Katrina. Obama gets a free pass as always. It ain´t right but it is what it is.

There´s not much mention in the press that many people in Staten Island, and parts of Long Island, are living in tents or in unheated, no power homes with no plumbing. Or are camped out on a relative´s couch waiting for their insurance money to come through. And FEMA won´t pay until the insurance claim is cleared.

As #6 said, with Christie´s help, Obama will skate free of blame.

#17, Staten Island is the one borough of NYC that reliably votes Republican. I wonder if that´s why help is so slow in coming from Obama´s FEMA?
