Why does passage of time while you are waiting for your questions to be answered affect the qualifications of the candidate? IMHO, if he won´t answer questions from Congress before he starts the job, he certainly won´t answer questions after he has it.

I heard Graham´s remarks. He said he asked Hagel whether he said something Graham considered a deal breaker. Graham said that Haagel didn´t remember saying it and said he was sure he would not haave said such a thing. Graham said, basically, he would take Hagel´s word, (as a gentleman) and would, therefore, have to vote for him.

@22, we here in SC have been working to replace Miss Lindsey since the midst of his first term. The problem is not that more conservative candidates cannot be found. Am I misunderstanding what "end bid to block" means? I thought they were just ending the filibuster and allowing his nomination to come to a vote. I assume they will vote no. That doesn´t mean he won´t still be confirmed.

I´ve had it with RINOs. I changed my registration to independent because of the Grahams and the McCains in the Senate and the House. Each time I receive a letter asking for RNC national, state or local $ I toss in the garbage can. From now on I only will support the legislators who stick to their principles and have the courage to say no to bad selections or laws.
I´ve written to RNC and it falls on deaf ears.I seriously believe they have not read letters because there wasn´t any form of money in it. The RNC and its cohort in the senate and house will not recognize me and I no longer recognize them.

Please forgive the second post, but to answer #41: Yes, this action is to bring the nomination to a vote, but as we saw with the Kerry SOS confirmation only a few "Republicans" will vote no. You can count on McPain and Graham to vote yes.

So, having staked out so-called principled positions on this issue, Senator Graham from Bend-Over, South Carolina, and John McCain, the nincompope, have decided to withdraw their objections to a self-evidently unqualified candidate?

It was important to Obama to ensure that a REPUBLICAN cuts defense. Finding a Republican idiot was just icing on the cake. Here´s the play: Make the Senate Republicans question Hagel and thereby force them to demonstrate just how stupid a Senate Republican is. Then rely on McCain and Graham to prove it by voting to allow a Republican they have deemed unqualified into office, making them look simultaneously unprincipled, obstructive, and double dutch stupid.

What a crew! What a coup! How much more are we all supposed to take? Are there any GOP politicians left who actually understand politics and know how to win?
