Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) asked NBC´s David Gregory a question Sunday that should be asked of virtually every media member in this country. During a heated exchange about the attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, last year, McCain said to his Meet the Press host, "Do you care whether four Americans died?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):DAVID GREGORY, HOST: The president said this week on the issue of Benghazi, "You guys are running out of things to ask about." So let me ask you, at the end of the day here on Benghazi, if the worst thing
No, he doesn´t care. he would only care if this had happened in a R administration. This time, McCain done good. More and more people should turn the tables on Obama´s media and ASK THEM TO ANSWER QUESTIONS!
the left has a stock answer on Benghazi and that´s the 4000+ that died in Iraq and according to them we killed 100´s of thousands of civilians. So,why are we so concerned over 4 people.
Never mind that this was complete dereliction of duty and a massive cover up scheme that blew up in their faces. A fake illness and injury to Hillary to buy time.Petraeus ran out of town to keep his mouth shut.
I rarely have anything nice to say about Sen. McCain, so here is an exception thanks for taking it right to the phoney journalist who is really just a propagandist in the Geobbel´s style. McCain did not let him get a way with it. Thanks you Senator this happens as often as the Pope retiring and lightning hitting the Vatican.
McCain outlines numerous issues that we don´t have answers to, nor are any answers forthcoming, and Gregory still continues to ask "A cover up of what?"!!! NBC is just State Controlled Media and Gregory is just another little monkey dancing on the end of the Obamboozler´s string!
"Do you not care about four dead Americans?. Or are you so bent upon saving Obama embarrassment that you will invite me on your show in an attempt to further brunt those who want answers? It is tragic that we have a media that refuse to help us honor these dead Americans by at the very least knowing the full story as to why it happened. (Take off mic and walk off the set).
that is what must begin to happen to these cretins. But don´t expect anyone but Cruse to do it.
After the Benghazi attack, Susan Rice was specifically asked to appear on ´´Meet the Press´´ in order to lie that it was caused by an anti-Islamist video.
And for years, John McCain has been specifically asked to appear on ´´Meet the Press´´ in order to undermine the Republican party.
´´Meet the Press´´ has been nothing if not consistent in its support for the Democrats.
But if John McCain has decided to no longer fulfill his anti-Republican mission on Sunday talkshows, which Republican will be left to do so? Lindsay Graham? But Senator Grahamnesty is up for re-election next year and probably doesn´t want to be the Dick Lugar of 2014.
So, ´´Meet the Press´´ has a job opening for a disloyal Republican, and let´s hope no one will agree to fill it.
Say what you will, but Senator McCain AND Senator Lindsay Graham have done a very good job (lately) of calling out obama and his obama-worshipping-knee-pad-wearing-press, not that it matters to some who are heck-bent on bashing them. Thank you, John McCain!
Why should the LeftMedia care about the murders of 4 Americans? Now if it were 4 homosexuals denied the "right" to marry, or 4 third-trimester Women seeking last minute abortions, or 4 gay troop leaders rejected by the Boy Scouts, or 4 Black people somehow "dissed" by whites, Or 4 illegal aliens denied the right to vote--then the LeftMedia would be all over it.
# 16 Amen. Senators McCain and Graham have been on point on Benghazi ( and Hagel and gun control ) for weeks. Limbaugh and the other far right wing talkers continue to ignore the great job these two have done . Because it doesn´t fit the phony narrative that they have established. For some inexplicable reason, some self appointed Tea Party honchos continue to slam Graham and vow to primary him. If past is prologue, we can watch that seat go the Akin way.
Like several others here, I too cannot understand why our side is still trying to crucify Graham. I´ve listened to him many times in recent weeks, and he is almost alone in taking the Regime to the woodshed, and remaining persistent about it. Conservatives truly are a circular firing squad.
The reason so many of us are hard on McCain and Graham is because we know they will cave. They start out strong but eventually they back down. Asking hard questions is not enough. Get back to me when they demand answers and get them. Evidently the price of American lives is cheap if we can let Obama and this administration get away with the failure to come to the aid of their fellow countrymen when they are begging for help. Will we fiercely advocate on their behalf or just move on as this administration advises.
Thank you Senator McCain. The only trouble with his cover up theory is this administration doesn´t really have to bother. The Gregory press corps will never report the truth on Benghazi so why even bother covering up? All they have to do is stonewall their way through a few hearings and demonize anyone who wants answers.
Oh, and wait for a Republican to take a drink of water during a speech. Gregory´s news company will air THAT 155 times LOL. Useful idiots.
Good for McCain for asking Gregory this question; however, McCain must not care all that much either since he won´t block an incompetent like Hagel from becoming Secretary of Defense. You can´t have it both ways, John. Do you honestly think Hagel is going to buck King Barry if another Benghazi happens and the Muslim BroHoods want to take over?
Of course Gregory doesn´t care. Gregory is memorable for his arrogance, rudeness and overweening conceit when he was a member of the White House Press Corps during the Bush administration. Surely we all can remember this self-important clown barking at Bush like a high school bully barking at a freshman.
I´m with #12. Benghazi happened September 11, 2012. We´re 5 months on and no one is watching David Gregory. On the other hand, the Senate is supposed to providing Advice and Consent on the Hagel and Brennan nominations. Both have decided the questioning has gone on long enough even though the questions haven´t been answered. And both have taken swipes at Ted Cruz who is trying to do his job.
WE all know that 4 Americans were sacrificed and essentially jettisoned from any meaning by the Regime...The unanswered questions are: A.) what has happened to the Thirty-one people who have been hidden by the Regime... B.)Folks who could answer the questions about what really happened in Benghazi? 1.)They could come forward and tell America the truth. 2.) Are they still alive, or were they sacrificed to the Big Ego in the WH?
QUESTIONS Without AANSWERS! Thanks to the Urinalists of the Press Corpse.
Some twit from the White House was on Fox News this morning and stated that the White House was engaged all evening with what was going on the Libya. He also stated, with a straight face, that it was because of the leadership of obama. He said all this with a straight. They must take the masses as a bunch of idiots. There are so many layers to this.
People are hard on Graham and McCain because they deserve it. They have undercut Republicans at every turn.
Has McCain done a good job on Benghazi? Well, I suppose. But the only reason he was even invited on the show is because he´s once again undercutting Republicans on the Hagel issue. Which is a very important issue. Will he undercut on the vile Brennan as well? If he operates true to form he will.
The reason many on “our side” continue to complain about McCain and Graham is not because they sometimes rouse themselves to stand on conservative issues, but because they never back up the rhetoric with meaningful votes. Example: the Hagel confirmation.
Their pattern is to make some noise on the “news” shows, but then they always vote “yes” on the progressive agenda every time. They never play hardball when it really matters. Where are the rest of the GOP senators? They’re in hiding as McCain and Graham, the designated hitters, lob out a few pop flies to give the crowd a chance to cheer, but in the end they will throw the game.
Go ahead and cheer for the pop flies, those of us who expect, at least, a double-hit are leaving the stadium.
If ONLY McCain could make a clear, articulate argument instead of stammering and stuttering so darn much it diminishes any cognizant point he might accidently make! He is terminally pathetic in any debate. When he and others had the opportunity, to nail Hillary on Benghazi, they were too busy grandstanding and stammering to go for the throat, ask the right questions, and get to the bottom of this event. I wish Trey Gaudy could get Obama, Hillary, Panetta & Susan Rice in a hot room for a good old fashioned interrogation. I think he could get to the bottom of Benghazi and he doesn´t stammer and stutter in McCain´s mealy-mouthed way.
I´m not exactly brimming over with respect and admiration for the people who are criticizing McCain and Graham these days, to put it politely - even if the senators are performing less than perfectly. At least they´re trying.
WASHINGTON — President Obama and congressional Democrats, seizing on the good news of an improving health care website and rising enrollments, on Wednesday highlighted parts of the law that are popular with the public and reminded Americans, and the law’s opponents, of what would be lost if the Affordable Care Act were repealed. As part of that political counteroffensive, which began this week, Democratic congresswomen challenged Republicans to present an alternative that would provide free preventive health services for the 105 million Americans who have already received them under the law. At the same time, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
Fox & Friends host Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticized President Barack Obama’s recent speech about income inequality, arguing that Obama was unwisely attempting to change the subject from the Affordable Care Act in a way that highlighted the growing inequality under his own presidency. “Obamacare isn’t working, so the president goes to his old faithful ‘class warfare argument,’” Hasselbeck said. “He’s saying he wants to take out inequality and his policies from the beginning have been to equalize.” But, she continued, “the top 1%—their income rose by 31.4% between 2009 and 2012. Income for everyone else, you know how much that grew?
WASHINGTON – The U.S. economy grew at a 3.6 percent annual rate from July through September, the fastest since early 2012. But nearly half the growth came from a buildup in business stockpiles, a trend that could reverse in the current quarter and hold back growth. The Commerce Department´s second estimate of third-quarter growth was much higher than the initial 2.8 percent rate reported last month. And it was well above the 2.5 percent growth rate for the April-June quarter. But almost the entire third-quarter revision came from a big jump in stockpiles. Consumer spending, the lifeblood of the economy,
[Video] REP. BOB GOODLATTE (R-VA): Professor Turley, the constitution, the system of separated powers is not simply about stopping one branch of government from usurping another. It´s about protecting the liberty of Americans from the dangers of concentrated government power. How does the president´s unilateral modification of act of Congress affect both the balance of power between the political branches and the liberty interests of the American people? JONATHAN TURLEY: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The danger is quite severe. The problem with what the president is doing is that he´s not simply posing a danger to the constitutional system. He´s
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell pushed back against President Barack Obama’s claim that Republicans have no alternative to his failing healthcare law, telling Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren “this is a president that has a difficult time telling the truth.” The Republican leader sat down with Van Susteren to dispute Obama’s accusation that Republicans were merely obstructionists with no plan of their own: VAN SUSTEREN: The president spoke yesterday and he had a lot of harsh words, but one of the thing he said is that the GOP has no plans in reference to healthcare. He also said that you
VIENNA/MEXICO CITY- Mexican police have found dangerous radioactive medical material stolen by thieves that the United Nations said could provide an ingredient for a "dirty bomb," the country´s national nuclear safety commission CNSNS said on Wednesday. The truck was found on Wednesday close to where it was stolen outside Mexico City. The thieves removed the radioactive material from a protective case, exposing them to dangerous levels of radiation then dumped it less than a mile away. The truck was stolen on Monday while it was taking cobalt-60 from a hospital in the northern city of Tijuana to a radioactive waste-storage
After a near week-and-a-half “vacation” from being on-air, MSNBC’s Martin Bashir resigned Wednesday afternoon in light of comments he made about someone defecating in Sarah Palin‘s mouth. As Mediaite readers are likely well aware, I’ve gone after Bashir’s show multiple times, not for partisan reasons (I occasionally agree with the host) but because I believe his show represented the very worst aspects of cable news today. There are plenty of nasty, counterproductive hosts and pundit on Fox and CNN as well, but Bashir’s show somehow managed to combine all those negatives into one giant mess. And so, with that, I
President Barack Obama will sit for an interview with Hardball host Chris Matthews Thursday evening, the first time the MSNBC host has spoken one-on-one to the president since April 2008. On Morning Joe Thursday morning, Matthews wondered if Obama’s recent actions, perhaps including his arrival on Hardball, was due to a need to shore up his base after a disastrous rollout of his signature legislation. “I don’t usually need them,” Matthews said of high-profile guests. “I enjoy just duking it out with politicians at a distance. I don’t need to beg them to come on my show. But I always
WASHINGTON — President Obama has never visited the rugged mountains of Chechnya, but if he digs into one of the novels he bought last weekend, “A Constellation of Vital Phenomena,” he will be transported to a land of unremitting violence and tragedy, where the innocent are caught up in war as often as the guilty. Perhaps Mr. Obama is seeking a deeper understanding of the roots of the ethnic bloodletting after Chechnya vaulted back to the front pages this year with the Boston Marathon bombings. Or perhaps he is thinking about his troubled relationship with Russia. Either way, the novel
A top lawyer at the Internal Revenue Service told congressmen quizzing him over the tea party targeting scandal ´I don´t recall´ a ´staggering 80 times in fill or partial response to the committees questions´, a letter revealed today. The letter was sent to Chief counsel William Wilkins by two powerful House Republicans who gave him until December 10 to ´amend´ his statements. The stinging letter from House Oversight Committee chair Rep. Darrell Issa and regulatory subcommittee chair Rep. Jim Jordan, read: ´Your memory consistently failed when you were asked about information you shared with the Treasury Department´, adding his testimony
The headline of the Boston Globe story reads, "Judge says Obama´s uncle can stay in US." Although the uncle in question, Onyango Obama (Onyango going forward), is the second illegal alien in the Obama family to get his green card, there is a more interesting story buried in the text than the likely political favoritism shown these law-breaking Obama kin. Onyango claimed that Obama lived with him for three weeks at his Cambridge apartment when he attended Harvard Law School. A friend of Onyango´s verified the claim. Last year, however, the White House claimed that Barack Obama had never met
Late last month Washington Post media reporter Erik Wemple pretty much caught Politico reporter Mike Allen in what is known as "payola" or "pay-for-play" or, if you want to be generous, "native advertising." Either way, Wemple made a very convincing case that in his widely disseminated Politico Playbook email newsletter, Allen is allegedly giving paying advertisers the additional bonus of positive coverage and publicity boosts disguised as news. If true, this would of course be highly unethical. New York Magazine´s Jonathan Chait believes Wemple´s report should have been a "career-ending revelation" for Allen. Andrew Sullivan described it as "whoredom."
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
MSNBC has announced that Chris Matthews, Barack Obama´s most excitable fan, will be interviewing the President on Thursday´s Hardball. Fawning over the liberal politician is incredibly common among journalists, but Matthews has taken it to a whole new level. According to the network host, Obama is a "perfect," "cool," brilliant figure who is comparable to Jesus, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. The verbose Matthews has no filter when it comes to the Democrat, even once bizarrely blurting out that an Obama speech made him "forget" that the commander in chief "was black." To prepare you for the likely love-fest
Continued global warming poses a risk of rapid, drastic changes in some human and natural systems, a scientific panel warned Tuesday, citing the possible collapse of polar sea ice, the potential for a mass extinction of plant and animal life and the threat of immense dead zones in the ocean. At the same time, some worst-case fears about climate change that have entered the popular imagination can be ruled out as unlikely, at least over the next century, the panel found. These include a sudden belch of methane from the ocean or the Arctic that would fry the planet, as
MSNBC´s Chris Matthews will interview President Barack Obama this Thursday, the network announced Tuesday. The interview is part of Matthews´ "Hardball College Tour," and will take place at American University in Washington, D.C. According to a news release from MSNBC, Matthews, along with university students, will "discuss a variety of topics with the president including voter suppression, healthcare, the decline of confidence in the government and the overall political dysfunction in Washington." On Monday our colleagues Carrie Budoff Brown and Jonathan Allen reported that the White House is launching a coordinated campaign to return attention to why the Affordable Care Act
