| On Friday’s night broadcast of his radio show, Mark Levin speculated that the federal government is stockpiling ammunition to ensure the rule of law in the event of a total societal and economic collapse. On Feb. 8, Investor’s Business Daily editorial writer Andrew Malcolm penned a piece about the Department of Homeland Security amassing what he called “sufficient firepower to shoot every American about five times –including illegal immigrants,” or more than 1.6 billion bullets. “I’m going to tell you what I think is going on,” Levin said. “I don’t think insurrection. Law enforcement and national security agencies

Comments: Is Mark Levin dabbling in coo-coo land, or are we on the verge of something serious?
Only reason I say maybe is because he supposedly worked in a cabinet department, albeit back in the 1980s.

They love to send us into conspiracy theories.
If in fact they are buying ammo it´s so there is less on the open market for legal gun owners to purchase.
Perhaps levin needs to come up for some fresh air rather than stew in his underground bunker

According to the comments following the article, Mark Levin is not the only person that believes this. I believe Hussein is doing his utmost to foment a revolution. His only goal in life is to be a communist/muslim dictator of the US.

And what would be their rationale for limiting availability of ammunition to the general public? Both roads lead to the same place.
Not mentioned in the article is that the ammunition in question is hollowpoint, banned for military use and foolishly expensive to use for training purposes.

Keep in mind that Homeland Security, NOAA, EPA, IRS, Dept of Education and others are purchasing hollow point bullets. Not regular bullets for target practicing but bullets to stop a person on just one shot. Most of these Government agencies are only to operate in the US. So if they can only operate here and they have, one shot, one kill bullets, why do they have them. There´s a great article on survivalbasictraining.com that answers the ´why´.

Why would the Social Security dept. need hollow point rounds? Levin makes good points. We all saw how the passengers on the Carnival ship acted when food became scarce. Now, picture your town, your city..unions all on strike, no food being delivered, or perhaps the grids being disabled..or a dirty bomb in NYC. I know damn well the first thing they will do will be to seal the bridges and tunnels. HOW will the people act in 5 days when they can´t get out?

Another thought...the gov´t has always been a good place to buy up "surplus" ammo. Maybe they´re going to do some trading. Especially for branches that run out of budget monies, they unload some of their "extra" ammo. Just athought.

Levin is half right. They´re buying guns and ammo to pass out to Obama´s private army to keep us in line should we object to becoming serfs.

I see lots of disparaging remarks about the point being made by Levin, but in none of those criticisms are there any explanations as to WHY the government is doing what they´re doing.
It was nearly a year ago (9 months?) that we´d read that the federal government was buying up millions and millions of rounds of ammunition. At that time, it was the same: hollow points. Not the cheaper, ´hardball´ stuff, but hollow points.
Numerous Ldotters indicated that caution was due. They were roundly and openly jeered right here on L.com. And now, here we are again, some 9 months later, and again, the government is placing orders for millions and millions of rounds of ammunition. And again, there are some Ldotters who express a wary and cautionary eye towards the government. And again, there are Ldotters who openly jeer those that have these views.
And yet, still no explanation as to why. Why so much ammunition? Why hollow points? Why can´t the average consumers to to any of their usual retail store outlets and find any ammunition? Failing that, why are the usual online suppliers completely sold out - at ANY cost? Why? And not only "why?" but WHEN was the last time this was the case? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? There is a reason for everything.

I think Obama has a flood of executive orders coming down the pike and he´s not taking any chances on the possible reactions. These loons have a plan to write a new constitution.A new bill of rights.A guarantee to a house, healthcare living wage and any other goody you can think of. How they plan to pay for such idiocy is beyond me. It´s also beyond me that other countries would sit by if Obama declared a civil war on his own people.
If this is a muslim takeover,it wouldn´t surprise me. Just look at how Obama is setting Israel up for the kill.
I´m also concerned about this cyber security bill. What if Obama declared a national security threat and shut all the banks down.

Some of you seem to have forgotten that Obama said, "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded."
What does that sound like to you? And yes, I know ´FactCheck.org´ claims he was talking about just expanding the Peace Corps or some such rubbish but... I...don´t...think....so.

As for the ammo, if a gazillion hollow points are prohibited for the military, how about that domestic security force? I wouldn´t count on our military drawing down on American citizens, the new guys will in a heartbeat.

Anyone who is not worried about this is not paying attention. I don´t think Obama is smart enough to force a situation that these would be good for, but I bet his owners are.
On the plus side, when this insanity is over they might hit the surplus market cheap so I can go back to shooting beer cans.

I´m not the conspiracy theory type but I think everyone should be on alert. If you have studied any history you should know that advanced civilizations eventually collapse, and the end is not pretty. In the past 100 years so-called ´progressive´ Europe has descended into two savage wars, the last of which wiped out nearly 50 million people. Enjoy the lifestyle that you currently have, but just be aware that it could disappear rather quickly - at gunpoint.

It wouldn´t be the first time the people have defied the oppresso...oops! Government. A 1 million strong armed private army be no match for 50 million armed citizens. I don´t think our military would side with this administration in such a scenario.

I´ve been told, as of last Thursday evening, the ammunition is being melted down.
The reason is to keep it from getting into American gun owner´s hands. It´s not sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting to be used against us. It´s being melted down. They don´t need it in order to control us. They´ll use other measures for that.
But they have to make sure we can´t get it. That means it has to be destroyed.
Buy what you can while you still can.

I don´t understand why the government doesn´t have to account for what they are doing with this ammo, or what it is planned to do with this ammo. It´s our money. I think to say its for training is an explanation that requires documentation and real faces attached to the documents.
Above someone noted that if Stinky the Gunrunner runs guns, he also runs ammo. Probably a good deal of this is going to the Middle East and especially to Syria.

It sounds to me as if ALIbama is preparing to arm his civilian national security force. If my memory is not completely gone I remember that the Germans called them the gestapo.
All of this will be in place when he riles up we Americans and they take to the streets. When this happens he will declare Martial Law (as predicted by a lot of us on these pages) and it will be a total take over by this evil man.
There is no other plausible reason for homeland security to be purchasing all of the weapons and ammunition. It is time for someone to bring this to the congress and demand that an explanation be given.

Sorry, Mark, I disagree. Obama knows he cannot outlaw guns or pass huge taxes on ammo. But he can create an artificial shortage by massive government purchases (After all, there is no budget on expenditures to worry about), thereby driving up prices.
This is the sneaky, socialist way towards gun control.

They pile on certain articles, and try to sound reasonable, although it usually comes out sounding garbled due to their Lefty illogical thinking.
Mr. o. has been working toward complete economic collapse since day 1 under the command of George Soros. That´s why the W.H. has a new Bunker, they fortified the vp house, and now they are working on a 2nd Oval Office with a secret entrance and exit.
The Left has always pushed for total control of citizens and population reduction. This is a two-fer for them.

Time to inject a little history. In Vietnam, the ammo to kill ratio was somewhere around 50,000 rounds per kill (or 30,000 rounds, if you take another guess). Given that level of suppression fire, 1.6 billion rounds would equal 32,000 kills.
That would not even wipe out Galveston (47,700 population).

Levin has not talked about this until the past few days; the information has been out there.
It would be useful -- and instructive -- to know how much ammunition the Federal Government has purchased over a period of time (more than the last four years) in order to determine whether these recent transactions are over the top or normal. Is the Federal Government preparing for civil unrest, or is it controlling the supply? If this Administration is purchasing a much larger supply than in the past, I would wager that they are anticipating and/or preparing for civil unrest on a large scale (based on many factors), AND they are also controlling the supply.

Levin is citing an Investors Business Daily article, so I don´t think he´s "off". I wonder if those criticizing him actually listened to the audio link in the article.
“I’m going to tell you what I think is going on. I don’t think domestic insurrection. Law enforcement and national security agencies, they play out multiple scenarios. … I’ll tell you what I think they’re simulating: the collapse of our financial system, the collapse of our society and the potential for widespread violence, looting, killing in the streets, because that’s what happens when an economy collapses.
“I suspect that just in case our fiscal situation, our monetary situation, collapses, and following it the civil society collapses, that is the rule of law, they want to be prepared,” Levin said. “I know why the government’s arming up: It’s not because there’s going to be an insurrection; it’s because our society is unraveling.”
Sounds perfectly plausible to me.

# 15 had the quote, go back and read it. Millions of rounds of hollow point? Just last week I read that Homeland Security was buying thousands of fully automatic "assault rifles." Even if those guns and ammo are for "training purposes" what are they training for? All the alphabet agencies (IRS, HS, Agriculture, ATF, DEA, etc.) are building their own private little armies.
I thought the Posse Comitatas law was to protect us from our own army. It sure looks to me like the Obamites are up to something involving automatic weapons and lethal ammunition.

Levin is a brilliant man and not "coo-coo" by any means. Did you know that the government ran a practice scenario as if the Tea Party took over a city taking into account that the police and sheriffs would be sympathetic to the TP´s cause? They worked out the whole game plan to ensure they were able to stop the insurgence and bring "order" back to the city. Why would they do such a study if they weren´t planning on taking more of our freedoms? And again, what is up with all those "FEMA" compounds that are guarded to keep people in? Add this to the "peacetime" martial law orders, the ammo, the drones, the attempts to crack down more on guns and invalidate the 2nd amendment, the 500 vans Obama bought that can see and hear into people´s homes, the laws allowing cops to bug and GPS your car w/out consent or knowlege, black boxes for cars, etc... Is it really so farfetched? Not to mention what the leftists have been doing for almost 50 years...taking over schools, media, Hollywood, institutions, etc.

Mark Levin said:
. . . I know why the government is arming up. It’s not because there’s going to be an insurrection. It’s because our society is unraveling.”
Mark, will you consider connecting a missing dot or two:
It is Obama and his puppeteers WHO have been unraveling our society. It is they who have been purposefully destructing our economy.
Obama and his puppeteers have been systematically devitalizing our military. By tilting the rules of engagement to favor his radical Muslim brethren, by lying in bed with Morsi while striving against Netanyahu, by reducing our arms, by depleting our nuclear strength, the putative Commander-in-Chief has rendered us virtually DEFENSELESS against attack on our soil, against attack on Libyan soil . . .
By pitting black against white, left against right, atheist against Christian, lasciviousness against morality . . . American against American . . . Obama has been knowingly and maliciously inciting civil war.
Now, Mark Levin, please think about these two dots:
What do you get when you connect Obama’s DRONES killing American citizens on American soil to the regime’s billions of rounds of hollow point ammo?

As long as we´re injecting a little history, #40, we should keep in mind that a major use of ammunition in Viet Nam was ´recon by fire´. We used to fire full-auto indiscriminately at places where the VC or NVA might be hiding. We´d fire into tree lines or any such places an enemy might be trying to hide.
So don´t confuse the ratio of total number of rounds used to make a kill. Once we had located the enemy, it took far fewer rounds to put them down.
It seems much less likely that any sort of pistol ammunition would or could be used for the same purpose.

On his radio show this week, conservative talker Mark Levin said that Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, who on Tuesday claimed that opponents of same-sex marriage do nothing but “thump the Bible,” should stop degrading his audience. “Thump the Bible?” Levin asked. “Have I thumped the Bible once in an hour and a half on the air today? … Why are you putting down your audience? I thought you stood for the folks. And you sound like [President Barack] Obama, with the ‘clinging to their guns and religion’ line. You should show respect to your audience.”

On his Friday podcast, comedian and top-rated Carolla Digital podcaster Adam Carolla delivered a stern rebuke to all the “hypocritical p*****” out there, in reaction to a March 5 story from Huffington Post-San Francisco’s Robin Wilkey that portrayed his exchange earlier this month with Democratic California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom as racist. “The Huffington Post has come out with a story that says ‘Adam Carolla to Gavin Newsom: ‘What’s wrong with blacks and Latinos?’’” Carolla said. “That’s not what I said to Gavin Newsom. I didn’t bring up blacks and Latinos. He brought up blacks and

As Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s filibuster of the nomination of John Brennan to be CIA director wound late into the night, he got the support of one unlikely media personality: Comedy Central “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart. “Holy Howard Roark’s ghost — it looks like we got us a good old fashion actual talkie filibuster,” Stewart said. “The kind our grandparents tried to tell us about but never got through, because we were too busy playing jacks and tiddlywinks with our friends waiting for our turn to freebase in the shed. Ah, the ‘70s or ‘50s

During his Friday podcast, comedian Adam Carolla skewered California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom for not having a clear answer about why poverty strikes African-Americans and Hispanics in such high numbers. Newsom was a guest on Carolla’s show to promote his book “Citizenville,” which he co-authored with Lisa Dickey. But the Democratic politician invited an attack when he made said both African-American and Hispanics struggle with being prepared for financial hardship. “Think about it — half of African-Americans in the state of California, roughly half of Latino families have no access to a checking account or an ATM

On Thursday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer said President Barack Obama went too far when he publicly explained the consequences of the looming sequestration deadline. “Well, they know that they really overshot it,” Krauthammer said. “It was the president himself. He could have had surrogates out there. But you know, the only thing left out of his litany of catastrophe is pestilence, earthquake, brimstone and plague. I mean it’s actually hilarious he goes through all of this. … I think the Republicans have to be armed.

On Thursday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott decision to expand Medicaid and establish state exchanges as called for by Obamacare can be perceived as an “honorable” endeavor. Scott, a fierce critic of Obamacare, helped lead the charge agains the health care law in the courts. “[I] think as a Republican conservative, who opposed Obamacare, taking it as a governor — I think you can act honorably either way,” Krauthammer said. “You can oppose it and have opposed it all the way

The United States Department of Agriculture has been working to dispel immigrants’ concerns that getting on Food Stamps will harm their chances of becoming U.S. citizens. The USDA addresses those fears in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp, brochures it distributes to Mexican consulates as part of its “partnership” with the Mexican government “to help educate eligible Mexican nationals living in the United States about available nutrition assistance.” In one portion of the brochure, USDA’s text asks, “If I get on SNAP benefits, will I be a “public charge?’”

Washington Post columnist and Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer on Tuesday criticized President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address as unrealistic and egocentric, arguing that the president made clear he is more concerned about his own image than the realities of governance. Specifically, Krauthammer suggested Obama’s call for legislative transparency was mere lip service that might even backfire on the Democratic Party. “One of the things that these red-state Democrats who are going to go up for re-election in the next year are scared to death about is precisely having to vote,”

"I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.
