There is an adage that reads "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity... but don´t rule out malice." This is known as Heinlein´s or Hanlon´s Razor (there is only a slight difference between the two). Unfortunately many people only go by the first part of Heinlein´s Razor, leaving out the "but don´t rule out malice" part. People using this heuristic decision-making shortcut often think that even though some things that people do seem very suspect, and even though mental red flags are going up and instinctive alarms are sounding
Should be a Must Read. But it requires reading the whole thing. The last paragraph really sums it up and describes someone we have come to know well. Him and Alinsky, who preached that gradual change would not work. A total teardown of our institutions had to be achieved first so that revolution could take place.
There is malice and then there is sheer evil. That´s the road we have progressed on from 2008 to 2012. Malice was obvious from 2008, but effort was made to cover or mask evil. Now that pretense is being dropped. What 2016 will bring, god only knows.
Having and pursuing an ideological agenda is neither malice nor evil. It very well could be stupidity.
Pursuing an ideological agenda against the will of the people, using every means and effort to manipulate, lie and coerce certainly is evil.
The Dim agenda is simple. We know what is best and you will like it. We will stop at nothing to achieve it. The GOP agenda is to try and stop the Dims without stooping to their level of malevolence and malfeasance.
A noble objective if the voters vote. The problem in America is that many of the people who can stop this nonsense are sitting on the sidelines because the solutions are not perfect. Good is NOT the enemy of perfect.
If and until the majority of Americans who disagree with the evil and malice of the Dims do not step forward and vote - this will continue until there is no way to change it.
All who can see what is going on needs to be recruiting others to the cause. Otherwise, the end result is inevitable.
From an article on Obama, the Democrats and Alinsky that was published in May, 2008:
In the Alinsky model, “organizing” is a euphemism for “revolution”—a wholesale revolution whose ultimate objective is the systematic acquisition of power by a purportedly oppressed segment of the population, and the radical transformation of America’s social and economic structure. The goal is to foment enough public discontent, moral confusion, and outright chaos to spark the social upheaval that Marx, Engels, and Lenin predicted—a revolution whose foot soldiers view the status quo as fatally flawed and wholly unworthy of salvation. Thus, the theory goes, the people will settle for nothing less than that status quo’s complete collapse—to be followed by the erection of an entirely new and different system upon its ruins. Toward that end, they will be apt to follow the lead of charismatic radical organizers who project an aura of confidence and vision, and who profess to clearly understand what types of societal “changes” are needed.
Here, let me make it utterly simple by posing "Planetgeo´s Razor": If the decision was made by a leftist/progressive, it is by definition with malice and with the intent to weaken and diminish the United States and those who strive to enrich and strengthen it.
Near the end of the article when he talks about women being able to serve in all areas of the military, he uses the term "required". Is this a fact? It´s now "required"? Because I was under the impression that these areas were now simply "open" whereas women had previously been barred from those roles.
My thought has always been that women should be able to serve in any capacity they can qualify for. I know the social aspects are a challenge and I understand that. But if someone can physically do the job and has the temerity to tackle it, I call that person an asset to be used in the cause.
Considering neither males nor females are safe from rapists and torturers within our current enemy corps, even that has been equalized.
The dangerous part of this adage is that, to the Left, what they´re doing is not malicious. On the contrary--they believe what they´re doing is for our own good. Of course, they will couch their language in good-feeling platitudes (e.g. "we need to ban assault weapons for the sake of our children", "who doesn´t want to save our environment", "there´s a scientific consensus", "we need to protect our mothers´ and daughters´ health", etc.) They also understand that if they came out and said precisely what they are for (e.g. higher taxes for all, abortion-on-demand, the banning of all firearms, etc.), no one would purchase what they´re selling. So they have to lie. Their lies are intentional, and to us, they are malicious. But to the Left, their lies are for our own good.
Traditional American values based on capitalism and Judeo Christian principles have done more to improve the state of man than any other system EVER. Communism / Socialism / Marxism, or whatever you want to call it is inherently EVIL. This was common knowledge 50 years ago. The left is simply doing the work of the devil. Nothing more, nothing less.
For the leftists who are in power, I don´t believe that they believe they are doing anything for the good of anyone but themselves. For them, it´s all about power and control and who cares about the consequences.
As to tearing down our institutions, as of now most of those institutions are overrun with leftist power mongers. Maybe the revolution that the left anticipates will not be what actually happens. It´s long past time for them to reap the whirlwind.
I think that I would have to agree with the author. There is just far too much happening in this country to attribute it to bad luck or stupidity. It has to be planned. And the major problem is, that the siren song of marxism, socialism, or whatever ism you chose to call it, is very appealing to those on the low rungs of the socio-economic ladder. They all want the government to take care of them at the expense of "the rich". And they don´t have any knowledge of the horrendous failures of all of these isms throught history. And yet the will vote for them every time.
The beauty of the article is that the reader is making a mental list of all the demonstrations of malice that have been witnessed in the last 6 years. Then the choice of women being required to be represented in all combat roles is such a perfect example because there has been zero grass roots agitation for this. An earlier example in exactly the same vein is bringing back the draft. I think of these folks as ´fellow travelers´ associate them in my mind with the walking dude from Stephen King´s The Stand.
Every past attempt to make this communistic ideology work was beneficial only to the very top tier, until the whole thing grew so top heavy it collapsed. Sad to say, it was the millions who lost their liberty, possessions and lives who paid the price. But in the case of America, it is becoming clearer that those pushing us over this cliff will also pay an awful price, as there are puppet masters behind the curtain, on the world stage who will throw the complicit in with the downtrodden.
The standard-bearer of the movement hell-bent on taking over everything we Americans have held dear for well over two centuries is His Glib Nibs, BHO. Over the past four years, it’s become frighteningly obvious that what they worship more than anything at all is power. Power at ANY cost! Nothing trumps it. They will do anything to achieve it and likewise to retain it. Furthermore, they count on a broad cross-section of our citizenry to be and remain ignorant of what is taking place in what is still our nation. That the preponderance of our media is in lockstep with them renders a no-contest outcome virtually assured. When was the last time we heard “journalists” assertively query, and follow-up with more queries, Obama or his cohorts as to the purpose of the purchase of a billion or more bullets? Are there that many skeet flying around loose? Beware! Malice in Blunderland is running rampant!

Was 0´s decision to retire for the evening that the Benghazi attacks were occurring malicious, stupid or both? I doubt that there was an absence of malice. After all, it was just four more white guys dying, as many more had already done in Afghanistan. Even the Navy SEAL who killed Bin Laden and has a list of service related disablities has been hung out to dry.
Excellent and stunning article - an article that leads the reader step by step to a logical and alarming conclusion - an article to be saved and pondered again and again. Thank you for making it a ´Must Read´.
After four years of "ineptness", "inexperience", "mistakes", " mis-statements", "incompetence", "naivety", etc....people should come to the realization that the odds of such a pattern are not random happenstance. It is by design. Either that or the Obamboozler is the most unlucky person in the Universe!
Many people seem to agree that Ozero is a Socialist or a Marxist communist. Consider that he is only using that ideology to further his real agenda .. Islamization of the U.S.A. With his assistance, the Muslim Brotherhood has made great strides in the world; and the number of mosques in our country has doubled during his first term.
New York ethics regulators have opened a new investigation into the State Assembly after learning that Assembly Democrats withheld documents that were subpoenaed as part of a recent sexual harassment inquiry, according to people with knowledge of the investigation. The new inquiry began after The New York Times revealed last month that a top Assembly lawyer had kept quiet allegations of sexual harassment made against Assemblyman Micah Z. Kellner, a Manhattan Democrat and current City Council candidate, in 2009. The lawyer, Bill Collins, was dismissed amid the revelations. The records related to the Kellner allegations were not turned over
NEW YORK — Cosmo Allegretti, who created and voiced puppet characters like Grandfather Clock and Dancing Bear on the children´s television show "Captain Kangaroo," has died. He was 86. Allegretti, who had homes in Hampton Bays, N.Y., and New River, Ariz., died of emphysema on July 26 in Arizona, his attorney and friend John Munzel said Wednesday. Allegretti had been a puppeteer but was working as a set painter in the early days of "Captain Kangaroo." He volunteered to make a replacement when the show was dissatisfied with a puppet created by a professional. He gave life
When it comes to late-night comedy shows, President Obama is a prolific guest, but taxpayers might not be laughing along with him. Mr. Obama’s televised chat Tuesday on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno in Los Angeles was his 10th appearance on a TV talk show while in office, outpacing all presidents and hosts since the days of John F. Kennedy and Jack Paar in the early 1960s. The goal of these appearances is partly to boost the president’s image and partly to promote his agenda, and taxpayers foot the bill for Mr. Obama’s high-cost travel on Air Force One.
The recent security threat emanating from Yemen has complicated President Obama’s latest push to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, reviving doubts among conservative lawmakers about whether it is safe to return Yemeni detainees to their turbulent home country. More than half of the 166 prisoners being held in Guantanamo are from Yemen, and the transfer of many of them is essential to Obama’s long-promised goal of closing the detention center. But the recent threat involving al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, as the terrorist group’s Yemen-based branch is known, underlines the national security and political obstacles ahead.
The US state department has told citizens and non-emergency government staff to leave Yemen "immediately" due to security threats. It comes after the sudden closure of 20 US embassies and consulates on Sunday. This was prompted by intercepted conversations between two senior al-Qaeda figures, including top leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, US media said. Meanwhile the UK Foreign office says it has withdrawn embassy staff from Yemen and advises against all travel there. The US earlier said the closures in North Africa and the Middle East were "out of an abundance of caution".
Last week I put up a brief post on how the current terror warning that has seen the U.S. close most of its embassies in the Middle East–based on “chatter”–is peculiar, if not worse. Every watcher of The Sopranos or The Wire knows that the bad guys are not dumb, and know that we’ll be listening to any conventional communication, which is why I suggested this whole thing might well be Al Qaeda disinformation. Intelligence ninja Angelo Codevilla dilates the matter splendidly: The embassy shutdowns and the traveler warnings resulted from intercepts
While conservatives and liberals consider the political leanings of Washington Post buyer and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in an attempt to divine how his politics will affect those of the historic institution, the truth appears to be far simpler: the Post is now Bezos’ latest political tool in a crony capitalist effort to work with the Obama administration. How else to explain President Obama puzzling decision last week to roll out his corporate tax plan at an Amazon.com fulfillment center? Bezos spent $250 million of his own money to purchase the Post, which is bleeding money at an incredible
Some years ago, I heard this story: one of my partners, who at the time was a young associate, got a phone call from a former college fraternity brother. The bro said that he was starting a company that would sell books on the internet, and would my partner-to-be like to invest? Sorry, he responded: I would like to, but I am only a lawyer and don’t have any money. The fraternity brother, of course, was Jeff Bezos, and the company was Amazon. Amazon went on to become the world’s largest non-profit–tens of billions of dollars in annual sales, still
Even as the White House insisted that the U.S. has made great strides in the war against terrorism under President Obama, the president’s spokesman acknowledged Monday that officials cannot rule out the possibility that the latest terrorist plot apparently discussed between top al Qaeda operatives could jeopardize the U.S. homeland. Fresh details emerged about the nature of the threat that will keep U.S. embassies in 19 Middle Eastern and African cities closed for the rest of the week, as U.S. and allied security officials continued to grapple with a threat that all sides in Washington agreed was the most
Intelligence regarding al Qaeda plans to attack U.S. embassies, officials, and interests last Sunday was known for months by U.S. intelligence agencies but was used only recently to trigger the closure of embassies and issuance of public warnings of impending attacks. Al Qaeda “chatter” about coming terrorist operations, mainly against 22 U.S. embassies and consulates, and threats to attack or bomb officials in the Middle East and elsewhere was widely reported in classified intelligence reports over several months. The report said an attack was planned for Sunday, although no attack was carried out.
THE STATE Department has shuttered 19 embassies for a week, fearing terrorist attacks. Hundreds of prisoners, including senior al-Qaeda operatives, have busted loose in prison breaks in Iraq, Libya and Pakistan. At Bagram air base in Afghanistan, The Post’s Kevin Sieff reports, U.S. forces are holding 67 non-Afghan prisoners, many of whom can’t be tried in court but are too dangerous to release. Meanwhile President Obama says he wants to “refine and ultimately repeal” the mandate Congress has given him to fight the war on terror. What’s going on here?
The Muslim Brotherhood announced that it held a meeting with an American delegation on Saturday, including the U.S. ambassador reviled among the Tamarod movement for cozying up with the Islamists. “At the invitation of the Assistant Secretary of State William Burns, and in the presence of the U.S. Ambassador in Egypt and the European Union special representative Bernardino León, a meeting with the Anti-Coup, Pro-Democracy National Alliance was held in the Four Seasons Hotel, Cairo, at 11AM on Saturday, August 3, 2013,” Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood said on its official website. “We strongly reject foreign interference in Egypt’s internal affairs, and
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie holds a narrow lead among Republicans for the party’s 2016 presidential nomination, but even more GOP voters say he’s the candidate they least want to see nominated. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that Christie earns 21% support when Republican voters are asked whom they would vote for if the party’s primary in their state were held today. Florida Senator Marco Rubio runs a close second with 18% of the GOP vote, followed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at 16% and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul with 15% of the vote.
Barack Obama delivered one gaffe after another in his August 6 interview with Jay Leno, but the networks that usually mock every mistake or slip of the tongue made by Republicans ignored the President´s verbal mishaps. ABC´s Good Morning America, CBS´s This Morning and NBC´s Today show, on Wednesday morning, all bypassed the chance to criticize Obama for: downplaying the threat of terrorism; falsely claiming Vladimir Putin once ran the KGB; placing the Atlantic coast cities of Savannah, Charleston and Jacksonville on the Gulf of Mexico; confusing the Winter Olympics with the Summer Olympics. First up, on the
WASHINGTON — U.S. officials insisted Tuesday that extraordinary security measures for nearly two dozen diplomatic posts were to thwart an “immediate, specific threat,” a claim questioned by counterterrorism experts, who note that the alert covers an incongruous set of nations from the Middle East to an island off the southern coast of Africa. Analysts don’t dispute the Obama administration’s narrative that it’s gleaned intelligence on a plot involving al Qaida’s most active affiliate, the Yemen-based Arabian Peninsula branch. That would explain why most U.S. posts in the Persian Gulf are on lockdown, including the U.
Critics of the president are convinced that Barack Obama will do lasting damage to the U.S. I doubt it. Obama came to power in the third year of large Democratic congressional majorities. In his first referendum, he lost the House and he may soon lose the Senate; in other words, there followed a somewhat normal reaction against a majority party. Obama’s popularity rating is well below 50%, despite an obsequious media and a brilliantly negative billion-dollar campaign that long ago turned Mitt Romney into a veritable elevator-using, equestrian-marrying, canine-hating monster. In the second term, there is little
Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney jumped into the debate over the GOP’s future Tuesday night, warning congressional Republicans against forcing a government shutdown in their quest to stop President Barack Obama’s signature health care law. Romney addressed more than 200 donors on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee at a fundraiser for the New Hampshire Republican Party, staged just four miles from the vacation home where he has spent much of the summer with his family. The event was closed to the media, but his office released his prepared remarks.
Last month we learned that Megyn Kelly was leaving her daytime anchor gig to take over a Fox News primetime slot. According to an “exclusive” Drudge Report flash this afternoon, that time slot will be 9 p.m. ET. “Superstar newswoman Megyn Kelly has landed the 9 PM slot, top sources reveal,” the Drudge Report wrote. “The shock announcement is set for later this month.” Fox’s 9 p.m. hour is currently helmed by Sean Hannity, leading to speculation over whether he could be out of a primetime gig. There are many possible outcomes from this lineup change,
The U.S. State Department issued a global alert about the terrorist threat allegedly posed by Al-Qaeda in Yemen. The USA announced the closure of its missions in the Middle East and Africa, and their example was followed by France, Britain, and Germany. However, this was only an attempt to justify the activities of the National Security Agency.Last Saturday, right after alerting of the terror threat civilians and BOLO complex ("be on the lookout") that includes law enforcement and federal officials, President Barack Obama went to play golf, and then celebrated his birthday at the presidential retreat at Camp David.
Ending a war is a good thing. Killing civilians a bad thing. Deliberately targeting civilians is murder, and is never morally licit, even in pursuit of a good thing such as ending a war. The tens of thousands of Japanese non-combatants we killed 68 years ago this week with two nuclear bombs were not “collateral damage” of military strikes. They were the intended targets. We hoped that mass murder would bring the Japanese emperor to surrender. It worked, and American and Japanese soldiers’ lives were probably saved by it —
Over the last week, there has been a lot of buzz about a supposed CIA angle to the Benghazi story. Specifically, it has been alleged that a substantial number of CIA employees were on the ground in Benghazi, carrying out a mission that involved rounding up Libyan weapons and transferring them to rebels in Syria. Further, it has been reported that the CIA has leaned on its employees not to cooperate with Congressional investigations or the media, and it has been suggested that the CIA’s role in Benghazi may be related to the al Qaeda
In a rare diplomatic snub, President Obama is canceling plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow next month. The decision reflects both U.S. anger over Russia´s harboring of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden and growing frustration within the Obama administration over what it sees as Moscow´s stubbornness on other key issues, including missile defense and human rights. Obama will still attend the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, but a top White House official said the president had no plans to hold one-on-one talks with Putin while there.
In a move some claim is tantamount to social engineering, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is imposing a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America’s neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory. The policy is called, "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing." It will require HUD to gather data on segregation and discrimination in every single neighborhood and try to remedy it. HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan unveiled the federal rule at the NAACP convention in July. "Unfortunately, in too many of our hardest hit communities, no matter how hard
President Obama is slated to deliver a speech later this month commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington in which Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Obama will deliver his speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial — the same place where King spoke 50 years ago. The Let Freedom Ring ceremony will be held Aug. 28. "It’s obviously a historic, seminal event in the country. It’s part of my generation’s formative memory and it’s a good time for us to do some reflection,"
