I got into the article before I realized it was MoDo, but - I do agree with her this time, on both movies. I liked both movies but to have them labeled as history does everyone a disservice.

The sad thing is that most people who go see ´historical´ movies think what is depicted is really true history. History lessons via movies - we have been doing it since the first silent films. Always double check - I recall seeing Braveheart & being wowed. I read up on the history a few days later - the timeline was so totally screwed up I chalked the movie up to Fiction Fantasy.

No one knows ´fabrication´ like the NYT.

and yet Dowd has no problem at all with her flesh and blood president lying his tukus off every day of the week, endangering the USA with every action he takes, every word he utters. He´s reading from a script, too, but this real life, real time DSASTER.

Maybe they should be labeled historical fiction. That implies some of it is true but a lot might be made up. A lot of historical novels have a chapter at the end of the book which explains the truth and the made up. Maybe movies need to run such info at the beginning and the end of a movie. In other words watcher beware.

They´re movies, not documentaries.

Hollywood doesn´t go out of the way to make that clear, #9. As a worst case example,´Fahrenheit 911´ got an Oscar for Best Documentary.

Why should fabrication bother MoDo ? She writes for a publication that does so regularly. She supports a party & preezy who thrives on it. Whats the problem ?
