Johannesburg - Local reports stated police believe he may have used the bat to attack girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp before shooting her dead on St Valentine´s Day morning, according to a local report. Detectives are working on two other theories concerning the bat: that it was either used to break down the door of the bathroom where she hid, or that she used it to defend herself against Mr Pistorius, South Africa´s City Press reported. One bullet cartridge was found in the champion sprinter´s bedroom and police are looking at whether

Yesterday in an interview with Fox News host and my squash partner, Bill O´Reilly, President Obama slapped Fox News for covering stuff like the IRS and ObamaCare.(Snip)Now, blaming Fox News for Obama´s scandals is like blaming rubble for an earthquake. FNC did not create ObamaCare or target enemies for IRS investigations. His people inflicted that pain. FNC just asked about the bruising. But to use a football metaphor, once again, FNC is that sole remaining cheerleader who won´t end up under the bleachers with the star QB. Sorry, O. We aren´t like all those other MSM floozies. Police are still looking for a female person of interest in the case. Donald Johnson is married to the victim´s niece and says Carrol Jordan did not deserve what happened to him last Monday afternoon. By now you´ve all seen the communal commodes. But in addition to the privacy issues, a Twitter post shows Sochi bathroom goers may have a whole other set of rules to contend with while doing their business. This weekend, Canadian snowboarder Sebastien Toutant tweeted a photo from the bowels of a Sochi restroom. The six-paneled placard illustrated five bathroom don´ts in addition to the proper throne-sitting do. Fishing, of course, is out. Bowing to the porcelain gods is verboten. If the bowl squat is your jam, then you´re out of luck. The last square, however, is somewhat of a mystery.

Replacing the Keystone XL pipeline with oil-laden freight trains from Canada may result in an average of six additional rail-related deaths per year, according to a U.S. State Department report that is adding to pressure for President Barack Obama to approve the line. The long-awaited study, released on Friday, focused on the environmental impact of TransCanada´s $5.4 billion pipeline, but also spent several pages analyzing the potential human impact of various ways to transport oil, using historical injury and fatality statistics for railways and oil pipelines.

Former CIA Director Mike Morell may have altered the Benghazi talking points to benefit the Obama administration during the 2012 election, Catherine Herridge of Fox News reports. On September 15 one day before Susan Rice made her infamous appearances on various Sunday shows, according to the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report Morell received an email from the CIA station chief in Libya indicating the Benghazi attacks were “not/not an escalation of protests.” The report does not indicate when Morell read the email, but that same day Morell cut the word “Islamic” from the talking points and left the word “demonstration.”

SAN FRANCISCO — Amazon investors might have finally heard the news they have been waiting for: The retailer is raising shipping fees. Amazon has 237 million active customers but as a general rule makes almost no profit. Thursday’s announcement that the company was considering raising prices by as much as 50 percent on its $79 Prime shipping program could mean $500 million for its skimpy bottom line. “This is the first time we’ve ever seen Amazon flex its muscles in terms of pricing,” said Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffray. “It’s hugely significant.”

The ring was headed by a middle-aged madam named Hyun Ok Yoonung, a 41-year-old Korean immigrant who officials said is something of a legend in the flesh-peddling business. Gradual exposure to peanut protein powder over six months helped more than half of kids with peanut allergies learn to tolerate the equivalent of about 10 peanuts per day, according to the results of a new clinical trial. The Phase 2 trial also found that the overwhelming majority of kids who tested the experimental therapy were able to eat the equivalent of about five peanuts each day without having an allergic reaction. This led to significant improvements in the quality of life for the families of these children, according to a report published Thursday by the Lancet. Experts estimate that 15

[Breaking news update at 4:00 p.m. ET] An Italian appeals court convicted former exchange student Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito on murder charges Thursday night. Prosecutors said the couple had killed Meredith Kercher in 2007. They were convicted two years later of murder, but those charges were overturned on appeal in 2011. It is unlikely Knox, who lives in Seattle, Washington, will return to Italy to serve additional prison time because U.S. law dictates that a person cannot be tried twice on the same charge, a legal expert tells CNN.

Obama MyRA proposal unlikely

Los Angeles Times, by Walter Hamilton    Original Article

President Obama´s plan to tackle the U.S. retirement crisis is ambitious and well-intentioned but unlikely to have much of an effect, experts say. In his State of the Union address, Obama proposed a new type of retirement account for the 4 in 10 Americans who don´t have access to 401(k) plans at their jobs. The accounts, dubbed MyRA, would offer guaranteed investment returns, no fees and tax-free profits. But Obama´s proposal rests on a pair of uncertain assumptions: that employers would be willing to offer the accounts and that financially stretched low-income workers would agree to participate in them.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing. (SNIP) The new law will free people, young and old, to pursue careers or retirement without having to worry about health coverage.

The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, became law almost four years ago. It became operational last Oct. 1. Yesterday, Feb. 4, 2014, the ACA may well have been dealt its death blow. The Congressional Budget Office released a major study of the government’s budget and its effect on the overall economy over the next 10 years. In dull bureaucratic language, it delivers a devastating analysis of the inefficiencies, ineffectualities and problematic social costs of ObamaCare. The one-two punch: Virtually as many Americans will lack health coverage in 10 years as before the law was passed — but 2 million fewer

President Obama, outlining his push Tuesday to bring high-speed Internet access to more U.S. schools, said Americans should demand the same level of technology in learning facilities as they do in coffee shops. “In a country where we expect free Wi-Fi with our coffee, we should definitely demand it in our schools,” Obama said in Adelphi, Md., highlighting $750 million in new commitments from private companies to put digital learning labs in schools. Under his plan, the Federal Communications Commission will also spend $2 billion to connect 20 million students to wireless technologies.

I don´t believe Woody Allen is a child molester. But when I read Dylan Farrow´s letter in The New York Times accusing her adoptive father of sexual abuse, I didn´t think she was making it up. I believe it´s a scenario she´s come to believe after it was implanted in her impressionistic head as a kid.
