Seniors lean Republican, young people
more Democratic, right? Not so much

Guardian [UK], by Harry J Enten

Original Article

Republicans have a problem with young people 18-29. Democrats have a problem with seniors over 65. The story taken from this dichotomy is popular and simple enough: Republicans are the party of crusty old folks who are going to die, and Democrats are the party of the youth, who will lead a continued resurgence into office. I´m not so sure about this story; (snip) Indeed, if you came of age during the Franklin D Roosevelt administration, you are more Democratic than the nation as a whole. If you could first vote during the administrations of Ronald Reagan or George HW Bush,

Comments:
My first vote was for Nixon over Humphrey, even though I´m a Minnesotan. I was influenced by my parents and even remember as a kid in 1960 chanting, "Nixon, Nixon, he´s our man! Kennedy belongs in the garbage can!" My parents´ first vote was for Ike. My grandfather never trusted FDR; believed that his closed coffin meant that he had actually gone over to join Hitler. For all I know, Grandpa probably voted his first time for Hoover. Fascinating theory here.

To me,the key factor is the level of left wing indoctrination you went through in school.

It´s really amazing to me reading liberal´s comments on anything such as sports. It´s as though one person is posting under 1000´s of different names. You don´t see any signs of logic or outside the box thinking at all. They just figure out a different way to say the same thing.

They´re always in attack mode if you question one of their icons like Obama or Lebron James.

But anyway, you´re going against a tide of herd mentality people which is the real problem, not so much age.

To a certain extent I disagree with the promise of the article - it is not so much age but lack of brain power that causes certain ejits to be socialists.

I turned 18 under FDR and I have been a lifelong Republican. It was a lonely time for a lot of years. But, realistically, how many people my age are still alive? Not enough to count for anything, good or bad.

´60th vote´ for Obamacare?

So who did cast the critical 60th vote for the Affordable Care Act, a?k?a “Obamacare”? Facing a new election year, the GOP has an answer ready to go: U.S. Sen. Al Franken, the Minnesota Democrat whose 2008 recount victory over Republican Norm Coleman helped alter the balance of power in national politics. (snip) But in a body of 100 senators, Franken is hardly the only contender for the distinction. Not to mention that in the end, the essential finishing touches of the health care law passed the Senate — thanks to some tricky legislative maneuvering — with a mere 56 votes,

Washington — Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson is steaming mad about Obamacare, and he’s decided to sue the Obama administration on one of the only grounds he can — its treatment of members of Congress and their staffers. The Oshkosh Republican is a plaintiff in a lawsuit to be filed Monday accusing the administration of giving them special treatment that places a harmful burden on Johnson and other members of Congress. Under the health care law, members of Congress and their employees were kicked off their federal health plan and forced to buy insurance through an Obamacare exchange. Honolulu -- President Obama departed his native Hawaii Saturday to return to Washington, but his wife, Michelle, is staying behind for a few extra days to celebrate her 50th birthday with friends. As part of her birthday gift from her husband, the first lady plans to remain in this tropical paradise a little longer to hang out with friends in advance of her birthday on Jan. 17, according to a statement from the White House. It was the 2013 Politifact "Lie of the Year," our president´s now infamous line: "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it." Now all Americans are realizing what Catholics have known from the beginning: President Barack Obama is a master of deception. Lest people forget, passage of the Affordable Care Act happened in part because Obama struck a deal with a single Catholic holdout: Bart Stupak, D-Michigan. Stupak agreed to vote for the bill in exchange for an executive order protecting conscience rights and preserving the Hyde Amendment´s ban on the use of federal funds for abortion.

Washington – U.S. President Barack Obama might wish he could take back 2013, although it’s doubtful he could change anything. He began the year promising to transform America into a more economically egalitarian and socially conscious society. He ended it with apologies and empty words. A modest gun control law, tax reform, immigration reform, a budget, all failed in 2013. (Snip) The most telling indication of Obama’s failure is the national income gap. A study by Berkeley economist Emmanuel Saez shows that since the 2008 recession incomes of the top 1 per cent grew 31 per cent while the other 99 per

When President Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Denis McDonough, approached John Podesta a few weeks ago about taking over the high-aggravation job of White House counselor, the biggest concern wasn’t that he would say no. After all, he had already done so twice before. Obama’s team was more worried that Podesta would say no and that word of his rejection would leak, making the White House look feckless and desperate at the end of Obama’s brutal fifth year in office. So, the circle of people in the know was kept to a small handful; it was so closely held that

Drought can have a serious economic and social impact and is thought to have cost Europe over €100billion (or £83billion) in the past three decades alone.
