Obama Treats Himself to
Boys´ Weekend in Florida

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.— Faced with a lonely weekend of rattling around the White House without his wife and daughters, President Barack Obama arranged a golf outing with some buddies. In Florida.(Snip) It´s a weekend with the boys, presidential style. Eyebrows might have been raised at the thought of the president, any president, high-tailing it out of Washington, without his family, for some "me time" hundreds of miles away from the Oval Office. First lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha are on an annual, President´s Day weekend ski vacation out West. As it turns out,

Can anybody imagine the chattering class if Bush and his wife took separate vacations? Oh what a bad example that would set for married couples and families.

The golf is probably just an excuse to meet with donors, planners and schemers on Obama´s next step to destroy the country.

When did black people take an interest in skiing anyway?

"As it turns out, a president going on vacation alone isn´t all that uncommon."

And the examples are...Truman, whose wife didn´t even live in DC most of the time; FDR, and we know why he was jaunting off without Eleanor; and Bill Clinton, likewise.

Same also goes for their 3-week vacays in Hawaii at Christmas? Same also goes for (fill in the blank)? Can Easter, Arbor Day, Mother´s Day, Flag Day, etc. be far behind?

Last week’s deadly shooting at Fort Hood has spurred renewed calls to allow military personnel to carry weapons on bases, but Sen. Tim Kaine argues politicians ought to stay out of the issue. “I trust the military leadership on this. I don’t live on a military base, and I don’t serve in the military,” the Virginia Democrat said on “Fox News Sunday.” “For those of us in Congress to say ‘here’s what they should do,’ I worry that it would be a little political rather than really about safety or security.” In the aftermath of last Wednesday’s shooting — which

Lawmakers on Sunday quickly rejected a Republican proposal that would allow military personnel to carry concealed weapons on bases — raised just days after the horrific Fort Hood base shooting that left four soldiers dead. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Mike McCaul raised the controversial idea on “Fox News Sunday,” explaining that soldiers shouldn’t be defenseless on their own bases. “We should be looking at the idea of senior leadership at these bases, give them the ability to carry a weapon,” the Texas Republican said. “They defend us overseas and defend our freedom abroad, so the idea that

President Obama is imposing his policies directly on federal contractors. This week, he will sign an executive order that would prohibit federal contractors from retaliating against employees who discuss their pay with each other. The prohibition on the wage "gag rules" is similar to language in a Senate bill aimed at closing a pay gap between men and women. That legislation is scheduled for a vote this week, though it is not likely to pass. In addition, Obama on Tuesday will direct the Labor Department to adopt regulations requiring federal contractors to provide compensation data based on sex and race.

WASHINGTON - At the prodding of business organizations, House Republicans quietly secured a recent change in President Barack Obama´s health law to expand coverage choices, a striking, one-of-a-kind departure from dozens of high-decibel attempts to repeal or dismember it. Democrats describe the change involving small-business coverage options as a straightforward improvement of the type they are eager to make, and Obama signed it into law. Republicans are loath to agree, given the strong sentiment among the rank and file that the only fix the law deserves is a burial. "Maybe you say it helps (Obamacare), but it really helps

The British historian Lord Acton reminds us that “power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” That quote from a letter he wrote in 1887 was as true then as it does today. In light of Benghazi, Fast and Furious, or IRS probes of conservative groups in the midst of a presidential reelection, one might conclude that I’m referring to the corruption of government officials. Perhaps. The real and absolute corruption I refer to is the power of the mainstream media to decide what it believes to be news while further exercising their power to ignore stories that don’t
