A short video from Minnesota (which has been pulled from YouTube since the writing of this article) spotlights shameful behavior by elected Democrats, supposedly interested in conducting a “national conversation on guns.” At a meeting, two firearms experts came forward to speak, bringing with them two common Ruger 10/22 rifles that had been cleared by security. The purpose of their presentation was to explain how the gun-control laws currently being proposed would outlaw only a gun’s cosmetic features while not affecting the functionality of the firearms(Snip) In the video, DFL legislators simply arise and exit without explanation.
Comments: "Don´t confuse us with the facts" about the weapons they aim to outlaw.
The Ruger 10/22 is one of the most popular semi-auto rifles in the country, and (other than at very close range) one of the least dangerous firearms out there. In fact, I´m sure the pistols worn by police/security at this hearing are far more powerful and lethal.
It just demonstrates further - as the story is entitles - the Leftists aren´t interested in a "convesation," they are solely interested in dictation, deeming who is and who isn´t worthy of Second Amendment protected rights.
They´re doing the same thing in Colorado. I went to a hearing in Denver, at the state capitol, on Wednesday where they were holding initial hearings on two gun control measures. The speakers advocating the legislation were outnumbered by opponents by six to one. The bills were voted out of committee along party lines - 7 Democraps to 4 Republicans. The same thing happened the day before with two other bills - opponents outnumbered supporters nine to one, but the Democraps voted the bills out of committee along party lines again.
I have hopes that most of these bills, should they become law, will eventually be found unconstitutional - but for now, the Democraps have a majority and are determined to push ahead with their aganda, no matter what. Their minds are made up, and they don´t want to be confused by the facts.
This is what happens when communists get elected. They push their totalitarian ideology down everyones throats without regard to the constitution or the people they enslave. The tree of liberty acts like it is getting thirsty.
For the two states cited my question is how Democrats get elected? Other than stuffing the ballot box, that is. And do those states reqire a govt photo ID or they accept anyone who can stagger/walk in?
Also scary, the dem governor is trying to pressure local ammo mfg Federal Cartridge. They are threatened with losing state contracts if they don´t get on board with "reasonable gun control". They also have a whole bevy of other proposed laws, none of which would do anything to reduce violence but would make it harder for law abiding people. They are throwing everything at us, hoping some of it will stick.
DFL like all leftist are cowards, they shoot from the tall grass or better yet let other people take all the risks. They create nothing, their only ability is to destroy. You can fight or be a slave, I honestly don´t believe there is an alternative. God bless those with the courage to stand and fight.
PIERMONT, N.Y. — The driver of a speedboat carrying a bride-to-be and five others that crashed on New York´s Hudson River late Friday night has been charged with vehicular manslaughter. Rockland County Sheriff´s Department Chief William Barbera said Saturday 35-year-old Jojo John of Nyack was also charged with vehicular assault. Barbera says John may have operating the boat while intoxicated.
Trayvon Martin’s father, Tracy Martin, will appear on Capitol Hill on Wednesday afternoon to offer remarks to a hearing of a newly formed caucus. The Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys will hold its first hearing starting at 3 p.m., during which Tracy Martin will offer opening remarks, according to a release from caucus co-chairs Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) and Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.). The title of the hearing is “The Status of Black Males: Ensuring Our Boys Mature Into Strong Men.”
George Zimmerman, who has not been seen publicly since his acquittal in the murder of Trayvon Martin earlier this month, surfaced last week to rescue an unidentified family trapped in an overturned vehicle on a Florida highway, police said Monday.(Snip)The sheriff´s office said there were four occupants inside -- two parents and two children. There were no reports of injuries. The deputy responding to the crash said that when he arrived, two men -- one of whom was Zimmerman -- had already gotten the family out of the overturned vehicle.
DOWNINGTOWN, Pa.-- Police in Chester County, Pennsylvania are investigating an act of vandalism with racial overtones, possibly connected to the fallout from the verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial. (Snip)You can clearly see the words "Kill Zimmerman" painted in red paint on the front wall. The graffiti was discovered when firefighters arrived to extinguish a blaze around 11:20 p.m. Sunday. The fire was brought under control quickly and no one was hurt. Considering the graffiti, investigators immediately suspected the blaze was intentionally set.
R&B star Akon has suggested that African-Americans living in the US should move back to Africa following George Zimmerman´s acquittal in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin. The Smack That hitmaker, who was born in Senegal, west Africa, took to his Instagram page after the trial (Snip) Posting a screen grab of the live broadcast of the trial he wrote: "Every African-American in the United States needs to move their money, family, knowledge back to Africa were you will be treated like the royalty you are. "You don´t deserve this treatment. This is not your country."
TAMPA, FL - Only three demonstrators showed up at a Justice for Trayvon Martin rally organized by the New Black Panther party near a Tampa courthouse Monday. The representatives with the New Black Panthers told us they scheduled a gathering in front of the George Edgecomb Courthouse on Twiggs Street to bring attention to the broken judicial system and to demand justice for Trayvon Martin. The activists said they felt the trial was about more than a neighborhood watch volunteer and an unarmed teenager. It was a tragic narrative on racial equality under the law, they mentioned.
The Justice Department was running into immediate hurdles Monday in its investigation of possible civil rights violations by George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin -- namely, that after examining the case for more than a year, the evidence has not changed. Though the department announced after Zimmerman´s acquittal that it would consider a possible federal case, previously filed FBI documents show agents have not turned up any accounts that Zimmerman, before the February 2012 shooting, exhibited racial bias. Sanford police detective Chris Serino also told FBI agents last year that he considered Zimmerman
A citywide tactical alert was called off Monday following a day of protests in the wake of the not-guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial.(Snip)About 80 protesters chanting "No justice, no peace" gathered in front of the CNN building on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood shortly after midnight Monday, as police declared an unlawful assembly.
This week, instead of attacking a Hispanic senator, Marco Rubio, I will defend a Hispanic citizen, George Zimmerman, on trial for the murder of Trayvon Martin. (Zimmerman would make a better senator.)It’s becoming painfully obvious why no charges were brought against Zimmerman in this case — until Al Sharpton got involved. All the eyewitness accounts, testimony, ballistics and forensics keep backing up Zimmerman. We should send a big, fat bill for the whole thing to Sharpton, courtesy of MSNBC. With the prosecution’s witnesses making the defense’s case, the inquisitors’ last stand is to claim that, if the races were reversed,
This is another Syrian “who bombed it” mystery. What is not disputed is that a major Syrian arms depot in the town of Latakia in the Alawite region was destroyed (h/t Israel Matzav, also here). The Syrian rebels says Israel destroyed a large weapons depot which stored components of the Russian S300 air defense system, via Israel Hayom: "The Free Syrian Army claimed Monday that the Israel Air Force had destroyed a warehouse holding Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missiles east of the city of Homs in western Syria. The rebels’ claim has not been corroborated by any other independent source.
The complaints swirling around Jacksonville’s chief medical examiner range from poor leadership to unusual practices, such as washing her feet in the autopsy sink and touching cadavers with her bare hands. Valerie Rao’s performance has come under heightened city scrutiny, leading the Mayor’s Office to request a state investigation in March. The state declined, so the city has continued exploring other solutions, including privatization of the Medical Examiner’s Office. Rao’s work in other cities has been criticized for at least a decade.
A prominent Democratic congressman who has been tapped to lead a major federal agency proposed tariff waivers worth millions for a textile company whose lobbying firm donated thousands to his campaign. The revelations could fuel criticism of a program that some say amounts to a back-door means to secure federal earmarks and encourages companies that use imported products to curry favor with key lawmakers. The political action committee of Baltimore-based lobbying firm Venable LLP made a pair of thousand-dollar contributions to the reelection campaign of Rep. Mel Watt (D., N.C.)
WASHINGTON — U.S. officials insisted Tuesday that extraordinary security measures for nearly two dozen diplomatic posts were to thwart an “immediate, specific threat,” a claim questioned by counterterrorism experts, who note that the alert covers an incongruous set of nations from the Middle East to an island off the southern coast of Africa. Analysts don’t dispute the Obama administration’s narrative that it’s gleaned intelligence on a plot involving al Qaida’s most active affiliate, the Yemen-based Arabian Peninsula branch. That would explain why most U.S. posts in the Persian Gulf are on lockdown, including the U.
The truth about Benghazi, the Associated Press/James Rosen monitoring, the IRS corruption, the NSA octopus, and Fast and Furious is still not exactly known. Almost a year after the attacks on our Benghazi facilities, we are only now learning details of CIA gun-running, military stand-down orders, aliases of those involved who are still hard to locate, massaged talking points, and the weird jailing of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. We still do not quite know why Eric Holder’s Justice Department went after the Associated Press or Fox News’s James Rosen — given that members of the administration were themselves illegally leaking
He thought he was a woman trapped in a man’s body — but it turns out he’s “just another boring straight guy.” ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn. But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don. “I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing
WASHINGTON — Former Massachusetts lawmaker Barney Frank revealed that he doesn’t believe in God. During Friday’s appearance on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher,” Frank, who championed the decriminalization of pot while serving in the House of Representatives, admitted to smoking marijuana and being an atheist. “You were in a fairly safe district. You were not one of those congress people who would have to worry about every little thing,” Maher said to Frank. “You could come on this show and sit next to a pot-smoking atheist and it wouldn’t bother you.”
Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney jumped into the debate over the GOP’s future Tuesday night, warning congressional Republicans against forcing a government shutdown in their quest to stop President Barack Obama’s signature health care law. Romney addressed more than 200 donors on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee at a fundraiser for the New Hampshire Republican Party, staged just four miles from the vacation home where he has spent much of the summer with his family. The event was closed to the media, but his office released his prepared remarks.
In a rare diplomatic snub, President Obama is canceling plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow next month. The decision reflects both U.S. anger over Russia´s harboring of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden and growing frustration within the Obama administration over what it sees as Moscow´s stubbornness on other key issues, including missile defense and human rights. Obama will still attend the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, but a top White House official said the president had no plans to hold one-on-one talks with Putin while there.
Washington--As hundreds of commuters emerged from Amtrak and commuter trains at Union Station on a recent morning, an armed squad of men and women dressed in bulletproof vests made their way through the crowds. The squad was not with the Washington police department or Amtrak’s police force, but was one of the Transportation Security Administration’s Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response squads — VIPR teams for short — assigned to perform random security sweeps to prevent terrorist attacks at transportation hubs across the United States.(Snip)With little fanfare, the agency best known for airport screenings has vastly expanded its reach
A poll released Friday by Public Policy Polling found that Alaska voters would pick former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the state´s former Republican governor, Sarah Palin, if the two women were to face off in the 2016 presidential election. Clinton led with 49 percent in the hypothetical match-up, with Palin at 40 percent, a nine-point gap. As of July 3, Republicans comprised 27 percent of the state´s registered voters and Democrats made up just 14 percent. The last time Alaskans opted for the Democrats´ presidential candidate was in 1964. Clinton trails five other hypothetical GOP candidates –
The U.S. State Department issued a global alert about the terrorist threat allegedly posed by Al-Qaeda in Yemen. The USA announced the closure of its missions in the Middle East and Africa, and their example was followed by France, Britain, and Germany. However, this was only an attempt to justify the activities of the National Security Agency.Last Saturday, right after alerting of the terror threat civilians and BOLO complex ("be on the lookout") that includes law enforcement and federal officials, President Barack Obama went to play golf, and then celebrated his birthday at the presidential retreat at Camp David.
In an interview for The Guardian Weekend magazine, actor Matt Damon recently weighed in with his thoughts on how President Barack Obama has handled the scandals that have engulfed his administration since the spring. Damon, a vocal supporter of the president since his 2008 campaign for national office, said that Obama is overcompensating for his lack of military background with his tough response to controversies like how the government is responding to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. The actor said that Obama is allowing himself to “get bullied” and is acting as though is “manhood”
Over the last week, there has been a lot of buzz about a supposed CIA angle to the Benghazi story. Specifically, it has been alleged that a substantial number of CIA employees were on the ground in Benghazi, carrying out a mission that involved rounding up Libyan weapons and transferring them to rebels in Syria. Further, it has been reported that the CIA has leaned on its employees not to cooperate with Congressional investigations or the media, and it has been suggested that the CIA’s role in Benghazi may be related to the al Qaeda
The Pentagon has placed its elite cadre of special operations teams on full alert to launch preemptive attacks against suspected al Qaeda targets across the globe, according to reports. The American special forces teams have spent the past week waiting for U.S. military and intelligence officials to confirm the whereabouts of the terror cell plotting to attack U.S. diplomatic outposts in the Mideast and North Africa. Unnamed sources told CNN on Monday that the teams were poised to carry out the preemptive strikes, but declined to comment on where the U.S. forces were located or which potential
